Starts at the 4:30 mark. Says he reached out through Mario Arano and is waiting for the response. He says he's training with his sister, brother-in-law and close friends at the moment.
He is then asked if he is still working with Cuti Barrera and he says yes but starts talking about Mario Arano and Goldenboy and everyone else and how they've been good to him etc. Seems like he's looking for a change.
They ask him does he think he'd be able to train alongside Canelo and he replies that it would be awesome to do so :boxing:
This is gonna be good :cool2:
He's in a very similar position to Maidana back in 2012 now. He was getting thrashed by everyone but by 2014 he was pushing Floyd to the limit. Matthysse is more skilled than Maidana but he doesn't have the pressure fighter's mindset that made Maidana so effective.
He can still have another run but it's probably last chance saloon for him now. Like Maidana against Broner, next time Matthysse is in a big fight he has to win it.
Agreed. If he were to lose in a headlining card again he may have to give up on his lofty boxing aspirations.

I have always been a fan of Matthysse even if he let me down in the Postol loss. If he feared going blind that is a very understandable fear. Not much could be worse than going blind. I have seen Matthysse fight too many great fights not to remain a fan. Canelo is my top favorite along with GGG and it would be great for me to see Matthysse using Canelo's trainer.
A change would be good, he should have stopped Provodnikov early.
He didn't have the right strategy, that fight he made too hard.
He should stay at 140, either way.
U crazy, Provo has a chin forged by the vikings blacksmiths themselves. He took shots that even Garcia would've been brought down by because Lucas was landing at will in round 3 and 4. It would've been a bad idea to go to the body since Ruslan has short arms and is very dangerous in his range. The strategy was correct, just jab and keep him at bay. No need to do too much, the only thing I didn't like was his trainer not telling him to watch for that wide left hook he throws that almost got Lucas outta there.
I thought he should've changed trainers in the Judah fight, but hopefully it works out well for him; one of thoee fighters with a solid resume, decent fanbase and is good but hasn't won a championship.

If ya ask me Eddie is a hell of a trainer... seeing canelo improve so much with every fight. Proves it. Canelos boxing skills have improved so much over time. Chepo is the next great Mexican trainer
