Sullivan Barrera was led to believe the job was his, but Andre Ward insists he has yet to decide whom he will face on March 26.
What can be said with great certainty is that Marco Antonio Periban is no longer in the running for the assignment, having removed himself from the mix in favor of remaining at super middleweight.

When Ward beats Kovalev, not everybody will be shocked.
It will not be this huge upset, like some of you guys think.
I would just about bet my life that Ward will be the betting favorite with the bookies when those odds open.
Sleeping on someone you DON'T know, is somewhat understandable, although naive..... but sleeping on someone you do know?
There is a different word for that.
So despite not having a significant win since the super 6 which was 5-6yrs ago, Ward is considered pfp#1 based on something Abel Sanchez said? Gotcha! :fing02:
Look, he very well may be pfp#1 when it all plays out but he hasn't shown us anything in 5yrs!
Hold on !!
Who is " us " ?
You, and your Golovkin-fan buddies ?
That list is not yours, it belongs to BS, via Cliff Rold.
P4P is completely subjective, and that is Rold's opinion.
A far more important question for you to ask is..... why do I see things so differently compared to experienced/knowledgable insiders?
Ward is there because he is OBVIOUSLY very close to being the very best fighter on the planet.
The word OBVIOUS, is bolded for a reason. Why is it obvious to Rold, and me, but not to you?
And on the subject of " shown us anything "..... when has Golovkin ever beaten a world-class opponent?
At least we know Ward can, Golovkin just makes excuses not to fight.
Pfp status isn't something that carries with you until you lose despite being inactive and fighting C-level opposition for the past 5yrs.
P4P " status ", is completely theoretical, and means absolutely nothing.
That would be a great thing to do if money just grew on trees.
u wanna know why money doesnt grow on trees?? bc they didnt do it and now al haymon is finding away to make them regret it..even if he is failing he's taking the spotlight from them..
`122lb division is not an expensive division..small guys dont get as much..
these are fights they could have made that are world class
iono vs rigo
choco vs rigo
donaire 2
frampton
quiig
lomo
walters
now look at ggg's list: canelo...ok thats it
ppl aint getting fired from there for no reason..their own bs isnt even blessed by the top of the company..but some fan like u want to argue it..
im sure the top dog is ask "where is my next floyd mayweather type fighter"
i only see rigo ask for big fights..hbo should have made them..he hasnt had any big fight that u can say was bad..and he put on a show with amagasa..hbo missed out on that fight
put him in there with ppl who deserve to be in there and watch him flourish or fail..they decided not too..
That would be a great thing to do if money just grew on trees.
Floyd has gotten boo'd at times, but he also made up for it. When Floyd fought anyone who was unwilling to engage, what did Floyd always do? He would engage by walking them down. When someone refuses to engage Rigo, what does he do? nothing.
Floyd also created plenty of drama outside the ring, he was a great salesman. In the ring he was beautiful to watch. The perfection of his gift of gab made up for times when there was not much action. Rigo looks the exact same every fight. We all know what we are getting.
If you want to succeed in this game, to become a star, you need to have an IT factor.

um floyd was boo'd..but u see his numbers..u understand that doniare did his highest numbers wtih rigo..when uput on top fight u get top numbers..hbo knows that...instead they let go of a style that has done 2 million on their network for a style that just did 97k...
that is the truth...rigo will have the last laugh in he stays in shape

Little does Tiliheels know that GGG had to prove his worth to HBO for multiple fights before he even got a decent payday. Rigo on the other hand was getting paid more and getting constant boos and low ratings except for the Donaire fight. The guy thinks it is HBO or Showtime who make the stars and that the fighters have nothing to do with it. Arum tried with Rigo to up his game, Rigo did not listen. HBO tried, Rigo did not listen. In the end all he became was an expense. So they dumped him.
Lots of time then goes past and someone finally picked Rigo up (rocnation) and what does Rigo do? He stinks out the joint in response.
Couldn't have said it better.
The networks and your promoter can only do but so much. You as the fighter have to actually go out there and create buzz and make yourself marketable. Rig has had plenty of opportunities and time after time failed to cash in on those opportunities.

What good is the crap he talks if nobody understands his language!? Secondly, HBO pushes whomever they see is bringing in viewers, sponsors and filling arenas. Or at least has the potential too. Remember when Rigo headlined a card with Gabe Rosado on the undercard? Do you also remember how viewership dropped off by more than half once Rigo's fight started? Look, the guy is a great talent but he's too conservative a fighter. He doesn't go for the kill even when he has his opponent/s outclassed. This is the fight game. Not capoeira.
Do you think its just some sort of conspiracy that GGG is more in demand than Rigo? Remember when Pac burst on to the scene? Larry Merchant couldn't even pronounce his name right. What happened? Pac dominated his opponent who was the reigning champ by the way and drew interest from fans. Every outing after that he came in the ring to lay it all on the line and grew more and more popular win or lose. There was no initial "push" by HBO. All HBO did was what any other corporation would do and that is continue to give the consumer more of what they want and make $$$ in return! Rigo is a bad investment in the eyes of HBO. If he wasn't they would have given him a contract.
pac is not a good example for ggg ..he is a better on for rigo..pac had a 3 legends to fight...ggg has yet to fight one..rigo has fought 1 and has about 5 other worldclass guys around him he is willing to fight...ggg has 1 worldclass guy around him and he's not witlling to go to 168
bascially all u said is pac was finally pushed...and rigo was jut pushed away..
but please understand floyd has done 2 million buys on that network..1.5. 1.3..and 1.2 on hbo fightin the same exact way...they hvae to be the biggest dumbie in the world to let that dominance go...and they did..are they dumb or prejudice??
meanwhile mr high demand just did 97k...

lol mike and tiger pushed "through any bounds"..and that is a BS comparison..mj and tiger have did too many things not to be noticed...ggg beat geale and he's an apple signee?? sttop it dude
im sorry i dont see anytnig special in ggg when he cant even put words together..bc he laughs?? no its bc of an hbo push and bc they know canelo close to him..its an attempt to build a super fight that is not competitive.
rigo after leaving had 2 consecutive stoppages...round 1 ko..then a fight whre he was knocked down twice..and dropped the other guy once..and then finished him with a potato on his face....FAN FRIENDLY U SAY?
hbo didnt put up the money for him but they did for the white guy that is a simple fact...if u think rigo doesnt have personality u are dumb as it gets..he talks crap great and is energetic when doing it
push through any bounds except ward...REMEMBER THAT

" Andre Ward is P4P #1 "
~ Abel Sanchez
You clueless casual fans need to do some research.
EVERY trainer says Ward > Golovkin, bar none !!
Oh, except Sanchez, who says that Ward is the best fighter on the planet :lol1:
Ward hasn't lost a fight since he was 12, it's funny you think he forgot how?
:lol1:

Sure HBO does. They found an exciting busy champion. Their push though is only within their own boundaries. It is a lot easier to push a guy who is fan friendly vs a guy who is not. Lets say I wanted to build a boxing related website, and I pushed Rigo heavily on it along with GGG. One of them is going to get the hits and one of them is not. That is fact. Rigo is simply not fan friendly. So after a while what would I do? I would pump out more articles on GGG to sustain readers. You would do the same thing. Anyone who wants to maintain readership or viewership would do the same. It is just how it is.
The problem with so many is because GGG is getting pushed, they think it is about race. I remember times when I could not watch a tv show without seeing Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods in them. It is about likability and it does not involve skin color to 99%. The 1% will find an issue because of their own insecurities. You don't see Kovalev out there getting commercials do you? It is because he is not nearly as marketable as GGG.

Please explain how beating a fighter who hasn't had a significant win since 2011 makes you the "hottest guy in boxing!?"

... trolling on the "GGG duck" issue is outdated already... the "anti-Irish racism" is now drawing the headlines on Boxingscene...
Nah, we still remember the " GGG duck " :lol1:
Ward had a great run in the last 4 years.
A timeline.
2012 One fight in Oakland.
Defeats a drained Zombie Dawson at his backyard, who got knocked out by Adonis Duckinson a fight later and kept on losing to Tommy Karpency.
2013 Ducked a GGG fight at 168. Fought one time in Oakland.
HBO had a meeting with Ward and GGG and GGG agreed to fight Ward 168, after GGG blasted out Macklin in 3 rounds, but Ward passed on the fight and opted to fight Edwin Rodriguez instead. GGG then fought Curtis Stevens.
Ward defeats Edwin Rodriguez in his backyard by decision in an uneventful fight.
2014 Ward spent his time suing dead-ill Goossen in court.
2015 One fight in Oakland and more negativity.
Ward dragged fat and unmotivated 168lb Paul Smith to Light Heavyweight who was on a 2 fight losing streak against Abraham. The guy didnt even make weight and just took the fight for a payday.
Gets several chosen opponents rejected by the NSAC because of extreme mismatch potential. For example Rohan Murdock, a novice australian supermiddleweight who Ward wanted to drag to 175.
Later this year pulls out of the Cotto Canelo PPV because of a little knee swelling. Yeah..
2016 not looking much better
Sent a contract to another fringe Supermiddle to fight him at 175, who only won 3 out of his last 7 fights in Marco Antonio Periban, a guy that already lost to J'leon Love.. Amazing.
Keeps tweeting about how its a blessing to give to other people and at the same time lowballs the first solid contender that he would fight in several years in Sullivan Barrera.
To be continued.
Just to add context, coz you fanboy queers aren't very good at that.....
..... for that exact same period of time, Golovkin has stated that he can beat "anyone from 154-168"..... so, how many times did he attempt to live up to his HYPE by fighting outside his weight class, like he said..... ?
Oh right, NONE..... NADDA.... ZIP..... ZEROOOOOOOOOO !!
FACT:.....
IF Ward beats Kova, he eclipses Hypekins entire career in ONE FIGHT !
:lol1: :lol1:
i dopnt look at pics..i seen his comment and he's either a fake or brainwashed..how is it a not a sweepstakes if u are making your highest purse of 200k and getting a shot at a p4p king at his weakest point?
but you clowns dont critically think when it is someone u hate
ggg doe :luvbed::luvbed:
That's not a fact, that's just your opinion, and it has no basis in reality.
Beating Ward would not make Barrera "the Man".
He would still be exactly what he is right now - mandatory challenger to Sergey Kovalev. If he moved on from Ward to beat kovalev, that might do the trick.
Nah, thats just your fanboy spin.
If Barrera beats Ward he will be favored over Kovalev.
