them being so called SPOILED BRATS is just your OPINION.....would you like it if Mikey and SOG came to your job and told your boss that you shouldn't get the money you believe you're worth?!?....you guys can't complain about these athletes trying to secure any dollar amount....it makes no sense
They aren't worth what they think they are though. They think they are huge superstars with a demand for them. Boxing is doing just fine without them though.
not sure about that. barrera's opposition has been unremarkable to say the least. murat was the best yet, but that stoppage was laughable. he's big and ferocious, but also slow, rather telegraphed and not that clever on his feet. i expect ward to tame him and win comfortably on the cards, but he will have to work for it, which is good
... and a poor jab too...
Barrera is better than Yunieski who was getting a lot of attention after the Pascal fight.

I didn't imply that Ward would literally have to fight out of the country, he had the option of fighting out his contract, instead he sued his promoter.
He signed a deal with Goosen and was being paid satisfactorily for it. He said his primary issue with Goosen was that Goosen wasn't sharing his promoter fee with Andre Ward's other promoter (the guy who bought out Roy Jones - but didn't do any actual promoting for Ward). Ward didn't want to pay the other promoter from his money, he wanted Goosen to share his side with this other guy and to also share his contact/connections too.
Ward was happy to fight Dawson & Pavlik, but later wanted that kind of money for Sartison and Truax and HBO said no, not Goosen.
It sounds like we agree on Ward's latest issue. He signs with RN in March '15 and still doesn't take fights to rebuild his image and make himself worth more.

If I never box another day in my life, I can't complain. God has been good to me. Boxing is what I do, it's not who I am.— Andre S.O.G. Ward (@andreward) October 2, 2014
Why dig up that old tweet? What point are you trying to make here?

I have no problem with what he said. He doesn't have a contract yet, big deal. When he gets one he'll sign it and it will be official. It better be Barrera though, anything less than that and he'll be laughed at more than he already is
Exactly!! If anything, fans disappointed in his post are just looking out for the guy. We wanna see him in a relevant fight. He said its not done but I hope it gets done. He better be hoping too.
Barrera is a really tough fight. I think that's why the contract isn't signed. He wants another Paul Smith type, a non-contender who sort of looks contenderish but doesn't have a chance against any semblance of a top tier fighter. Paul Smith is MW/SMW in size, maybe Ward can get Nathan Cleverly, someone coming up or blown up and old.
I don't think it's that. I still think the fight goes off. My frustration is I was under the impression that this was a done deal but now we're a little over 2 months away and no fight yet.
I used to like ward but have largely lost interest with all his prima donna crap of the last few years. I think it's his own fault for ridiculously hard line negotiating. Just get back in the ring dude!
Ward's management issues came after he unified the division and won the lineal title. Why would he go fight in Panama at that stage in his career when he was the man to beat in that division? He was worth a lot more at that stage i n his career. Those situations aren't remotely comparable.
From his perspective, he cleaned out his division and became the true champion. So now, he wants to be rewarded. That's all it is.
His issue is his he thinks he's worth more than he is and doesn't want the outside stuff that comes with being a boxing star: promoting yourself, staying in the public light, giving opponents their biggest paydays, etc.
It's hard to stay active in boxing given the amount of negotiating it takes to make a fight and getting opponents approved.
ward's management issues were brought on primarily by himself. goossen got him good paydays, fights at home in the SS. he had a good thing going. 2 million dollars for edwin rodriguez! somebody got in ward's ear and told him he should start holding out for ppv money before the time had come. you can look at kelly pavlik losing his mind, ward's shoulder injury prior to the pavlik cancellation, as reasons why he was inactive as well. those are legit. also add in the hand injury leading into the froch fight and the knee injury / swelling that sidelined him from the cotto - canelo undercard. still, you cannot discount that ward had a very favorable situation under goossen, and still held out / sued him. he even re-signed with the guy in '12! whose fault is that?
in reailty, the move to make was to keep active and on network TV thrice a year until mayweather retired. then you could start to make your movev toward PPV money. it's no coincidence that these guys are starting to headline PPV on their own and branch out into fights that go beyond HBO or showtime money now that floyd's gone, and manny is on his way out the door.
the advent of mayweather's retirement should ahve been the signal for ward and his team to start to hold out for PPV money. they screwed up, and it cost andre quite a few fights, and several million dollars.
Funny that they make BoxRec ratings credible all of the sudden. Sometimes you just have to load up the Chromecast and actually watch these dudes fight.
Barrera is a dangerous fight.

I never understood why idiots think that "go get some pussay nerd" is a great insult.
It's like saying "you're smarter than me, but I assume you never get laid". Which isn't really how the world works. Chicks love brains as well as the brawn.
Ward & Garcia aren't willing to fight unless they're overpaid for it.
Hey Fat-Javi, I thought you were done following my posts. It seems anytime I get into an argument with someone your quick to hump their leg.
 go get some pussay nerd
some media people jumped the gun
ward's fault :lol1:
you guys are scared of andre ward. that's what a "hater" is. you're afraid.
this is extremely dissapointing, but to frame this as some kind of an outlet for ward being a diva without knowing any facts is absolutely ridiculous.
i was excited for the fight. hadn't been excited for a ward fight since rodriguez, which was getting on years ago, now. i hope it pulls through. in time, andre ward won't be the fighter he was because of the inactivity. he'll get worse and worse. he may already be on the downside because of it. i didn't think his legs looked what they were when he fought mikkell kessler.

Interesting.
Some fans don't want to hold fighters accountable for their decisions. Ward messed up and there's nothing wrong with saying he did. He's s grown man who signed paperwork saying he'll fight X amount of fights for X amount of dollars and most expect that to be against satisfactory opponents.
