As you can see on my sig, Elroy1 said something absolutely absurd. I totally disagree with that notion. But I want to know what everyone else thinks about this.
If anything Duran is better at every aspect of Boxing than Manny pacquiao, except when it comes to speed.
Haha. Very true. They wouldn't be able to land on George anyway. It wouldn't go far. I think Arreola's nose splits in the opening minute and Peter goes down in a round or two. No one could take Big George's power.
Ernie Shavers also knocks them both out with Jabs
It was either Elroy or that one poster who always dissed Duran
naw son i didnt have anything to do with that
you sure? maybe someone will post that ****
Yeah, can't see Peter or Arreola doing much in that era. Those guys would tear them up, barring a lucky punch. They're good heavyweights, but far from great.
George foreman knocks out both of those fighters with Jabs
most of armstrong's WW fights weren't against guys anywhere near the size of leonard, hearns, barkley, benitez, etc. lots of them were in the low 140's or even high 130's. i'd have to think about the biggest man he beat. it might be ceferino garcia, a 5'6" middleweight from the Philippines who weighed under the jr MW limit.
duran beat iran barkley, who was an absolutely enormous at MW.
he didn't give up the kind of size druan did, if you've seen the films of armstrong's fights. he was also at or below the 126 lb limit very few times in his career, even when he was the champion at the weight. he'd tune up well above the weight, and
Duran was one of if not the bravest man ever put gloves on. mickey walker another guy. Duran was a little guy NEVER USED PED's fought the toughest biggest ww's jm's and mw's. fought hagler who did not even mess up Durans hair when no one would go near hagler. fought iran barkley who was a LH. no one will ever match him
what about Henry Armstrong. He weight climbed with no prob and defined swarming

i remember a sig with a quote that said something like, baldomir was a carbon copy of duran :lol1:

I remember a quote, think it was from Larry who said that whitaker was not a good heavyweight or some **** like that.
naw son i didnt have anything to do with that
What a load of bollocks. Their respective fighting styles are nothing alike
Duran was an infighting specialist, when was the last time Pac fought on the inside?
this just isn't true! not at 147 and above, anyway! i will agree that he was primarily a life taker at 135. he had a freakish chin and power at the weight.
duran fought bigger men for much of the latter part of his career when he was making the most money and was a household name for beating ray leonard.
he could fight inside, but he wasn't depending on getting inside and grinding bigger men down. that's not a style that lends itself to climbing weights. duran is one of the best weight climbers ever! how's he an infighting specialist at WW and above?
duran was a very well rounded fighter. he was slippery, powerful, and had a great chin. when he moved from 135 his style changed drastically. he could do what he wanted against a lot of different fighters. he used boxing skills and professionalism to beat ray leonard in the first fight. he punched with barkley.
Pacquiao is the better natural athlete in my opinion, sharper natural reflexes, speed and power but Duran was the better educated boxer. There's not a huge difference between them and fighting anywhere between 135-147 would have produced all time classics but I feel Duran from 135-147, aged from 26-30/1 was unstoppable. By unstoppable, I mean in the physical sense. No one was going to put him away. Pacquiao not so much so I feel that Duran could have broken him down h2h but it's a tough call.
So, Duran the slightly better educated boxer. Pacquiao the slightly more naturally gifted.
Did you just say Manny had more power than Duran.
