I've got mixed feelings about him.
On the one hand it's easy to hate him for all the common reasons (delusional and arrogant persona, entitlement attitude, avoidance of real threats etc), but at the same time I have to admit I really enjoy watching him fight. He might be flawed, but that's what makes his fights such a rollercoaster ride. Even against lower level fighters like Molina he still has a chance to be hurt.
But more than that I just really like the energy he brings to the ring. The shucking and jiving, the wild bursts of aggression, the willingness to go for the KO even when miles ahead on the cards. Sure, he's not doing it against anyone really great, but at some point does that really matter? We know he's not the top dog in the division, so I say let him keep fighting on in his little bubble against the Duhaupas and Szpilkas of the world if he delivers the entertainment.
What say you? Is he good for the division or a blight on it?
Corny as hell, with little skill - what's not to love?
More likeable than your Stivernes and Arreolas, who make excuses at every turn while being extremely mediocre. That doesn't say much though. Says nothing really.
You cannot really 'hate' a guy you don't know in person. That kind of rhetoric is for children and fanboys, like the OP.
... which is obvious...
... the same goes for one who's "loving" a fighter -- because that one must a chick or a homo funboy.
What if he beats Fury?
If Wilder beats Fury then I'd hold my hands up and give him the praise he deserved.
Just like i would've done to Wladimir if he'd beaten Fury, and I'll do the same if he beats Fury in the rematch.
I don't know Walter Palmer personally (the guy who shot and killed Cecil the Lion) but i still hate him.
But back on topic, i don't hate Wilder, and if he steps up and beats a legit contender he'll probably make a fan out of me. I just dislike fighters who talk the talk, but don't back it up.

I think he's entertaining because you never know how he's going to perform....hoping Wilder and Fury somehow manage to face each other soon, their fight build up will be awesome.

You're a rather sad little soul, aren't you?
I used to think he was more or less the new version of Michael Grant but he surprised me with his performance against Stiverne, he looked very solid. There are still question marks because of his lack of good opponents but I now believe he's a lot better than people give him credit for.
I'm still not completely sold on him but Wilder with flaws and all makes him unpredictable and an exciting fighter, I get the feeling he can beat anyone but also lose to anyone. At the end of the day he's good for the HW divison.
Yeah, I think a lot more highly of him since the Stiverne fight, where he really showed a maturity I never thought he possessed. His blips against Molina and Duhapuas I put down more to lack of concentration, which seems to be a problem for him, much as it used to be for Fury, but I feel confident that he'll up his game the better the level of fighter he's facing. At a certain stage his flaws will be made to bite him in the ass, but I don't think the dangerous but rather limited Povetkin will be the one to capitalise on them.
Wilder makes promises he can't keep, he lies and cons a gullible American public, and doesn't deliver in the ring, in his last fight he went life and death with some French guy nobody had ever heard of. I admit that he's entertaining in a brawler sort of way.
Not sure about that last part. I think that's actually one of his strongest points.
I am only slightly against him at the moment but only because he has a belt. And entirely because he has been carefully matched outside of Stiverne who at that time very decent.
If he didn't have a belt I would be fine with him as it is good for there to be a brash, confident, top American heavy.
If he fights and beats Povetkin then he is superstar.
Still find it hard to figure out how good he is outside of having a bomb of a right hand but all top heavyweights can bang.
I think that's a bit harsh. Wilder might be a loudmouth and a braggart, but he fights often and tends to deliver exciting fights, albeit not against the greatest competition. He also seems quite tongue in cheek a lot of the time, which makes a lot of his comments easier to take, for me at least. Haye literally had nothing likeable about him whatsoever. He fought irregularly, made promises he never kept, lied and conned a gullible populace and didn't even deliver the goods in the ring half the time. Plus, he had an absolutely loathsome, up his own arse personality that wasn't the least bit entertaining. I'd take Wilder over Haye anytime.

He's a prick. Fed up of him talking like he's some kind of elite champion because he holds a paper belt.
His comments after Fury became the champ were ridiculous.
"I'm now the best HW in the world"
"My belt is worth more than Fury's other belts combined"
I understand that he's potentially trying to hype a future fight with Fury, but seeing as he's trying to get corpses like Adamek out of retirement to fight him, does anyone really believe that he'll get in the ring with a truly elite HW like Fury or Ortiz?
He reminds me of David Haye. His mouth writes cheques that he can't cash.

I used to be a Wilder hater but I've come to appreciate him. He stays active, doesn't get out of shape and is always ready to fight. We talk about his weak resume but he did win his belt in the ring. I thought Stiverne was gonna be to much for him. He needed those last two fights because he's still a project and needs rounds more than anything. He stepped it up with Glazkof, that didn't work but Szpilka isn't as bad as Molina and Duhaupas. He's willing to fight Povetkin and has said he'd travel to Russia to do it. I like the trash talk between him and Fury and they're actually good friends. His fights are exciting, that jump punch against Duhaupas was hilarious. I see a brutal KO in his future but it'll be fun to watch. Hopefully he gets past Szpilka and fights Povetkin.
There's definitely something to be said in this day and age for a fighter, especially a heavyweight, who just fights often and keeps in excellent shape. That's more than can be said for a lot of guys. His weak resume will hurt his overall legacy but I'm not sure we should be so worried about that at this stage. Boxing needs its entertainers as much as its top fighters and while Wilder is a danger to anyone in the division, I feel that he falls more comfortably into the former bracket.
I like him as a person seems like a cool cat and helping his daughter is awesome but enough with the garbage title defenses enough is enough. He is using excuses not to fight Ortiz,Povetkin and now Fury.
If your a world champion please fight other world champs, I'll give you one title defense in your hometown or gimme but after that step it up. Molina almost had him out of there for fvck sakes and the French Baqutte maker gave him hell. It's sad that he gave a title shot to a guy that got destroyed by a feather fisted heavyweight Brian Jennings just shows you what his management think of his talent.
I voted that I like him but wish he would fight better opposition. He has only fought a guy rated top ten is the world once when he won his title. His first two defenses were against guys boxrec ranked about 25th and his next defense is against a guy they rank 19th so that's a little better. I would like him to fight guys ranked in the top 10 in the world. That is what good champions should do. How about giving Ortiz a title shot? Ortiz certainly deserve a title shot.
