I don't personally watch the pathetic show, "The Fight Game With Jim Lampley" but I hear members of the "panel" have been taking shots at Andre Ward, both subtle and direct jabs. Keep in mind, the panel mainly consists of Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, and I guess they have Michelle Beadle from ESPN (who knows nothing about boxing) on the panel now too. These are his HBO analyst "colleagues" who are downing him on their show on HBO.
Do you think the HBO executives green lighted this abuse as a warning sign to Ward? That perhaps they may fire him soon if he doesn't "please" them by taking whatever fights they want to force him upon?
This is the post I'm referring to, by the way;
Just watched the 'The Fight Game', the previous two episodes Lampley criticized Ward for being inactive and wanting to fight weak opposition, this episode Max criticized Ward for dropping out of the Brand fight after admitting he was back to full health weeks before the fight would've occurred.
I'm thinking Ward's days as a commentator at HBO are done. SOG's running out of people who'll put up with him.
They have somewhat of a responsibility to be objective while discussing the sport on the show. Nothing they've said about ward is untrue...not like they gotta bag lick the guy just cuz he's a colleague.
Who cares! HBO sucks. I mean either you know or not, or take boxings cliche outlet such as HBO boxing for granted, then you're missing out on Skysports, Box Azteca, or Showtime. Now PBC. I can settle for Marv Albert any day over Lampley. I hate that goon.
Yeah I know what you mean. I don't think HBO is doing Ward right by this though.
I hate Marv's raspy voice.
The only reason I'm tough on Andre is because I know his potential. He can go down with the all time greats like Steve Collins,Joe Calzaghe,and Nigel Benn. He needs to be pushed into fighting the top Russians in the sport. Those are the tough fights. Those are the real hittas. Not Paul Smith or Zac Dunn.
how are they taking shots at ward? buy saying he needs to get in the ring and fight. they kiss his ass more than any fighter in the game.... how many times do we hear that Ward in there minds is the fighters with best skill set in the world. dumbass thread.
How can anyone want to to hear Ward on there? He had to be the most boring analyst in boxing period. Here was a guy who said himself: "I don't want to say too much about a fighter who is a potential opponent" while he was actually supposed to be adding color commentary to a fight.
He simply does not have the personality to gather a listeners attention. He means well, but it could have been a super exciting fight, and he would still be all monotone.
Kellerman still says he's #1 pound for pound...that doesn't sound like he's taking a shot to me. Lampley obviously doesn't like him as a fighter though, but that's just one guy. Max and Bernard haven't taken any shots.
Yeah, because Kellerman should be talking about how Andre Wards last 4 years are the most brilliant boxing he's ever seen.
HBO, especially Kellerman, usually swing from Andre's nuts. I think they're just getting frustrated with his inactivity and weirdness. Which is understandable.
If Andre Ward fights twice this year and one of the fights is Kovalev, they will get right back on his nuts.

I hope so. He not a very good commentator anyway.
