ANOTHER boxer/trainer who feels Andre Ward is the P4P King since Floyd retired....NOBODY gives a f*ck about him being inactive due to promotional and legal problems....Floyd took 2 yrs off, came back and was STILL P4P King....Ward was number two and with Floyd retiring, he becomes number one by default....simple!! :boxing:
a lot of people just had wlad as the p4p #1 fighter even though he is a basic fighter with very little boxing skill. sometimes people confuse cheating tactics with actual boxing. it can be frustrating. ward is no different. if he had great skills he wouldn't have to cheat consistently. you don't see guys like kovalev or gonzalez grabbing and headbutting constantly in order to win. they can use just their skills to win. also ward hasn't done anything relevant in 4 years but people simply don't care. they would still have him #1 in 10 years if he kept fighting bums. he has the "style' that they like
I just think boxers and trainers have more of an appreciation of Ward's skill than fans and writers.
You mean people that actually do it have more of an appreciation than people who only talk about it? Shocking.

Hey bro how come you don't have gg anywhere in your top 10 p4p
Lol @ the idea of Dre competing at Cruiser. He'd be KO'd in a bad way against any decent cruiser. Kovalev, Stevenson and Beterbiev all have a great shot at stopping Dre also. Why are you listing fighters 2 weight classes below his current weight? Does stretching the range make it look better? Add GGG to the list also. Dre isn't top dawg, and if he actually manages to get in the ring with Kovalev, the great urban hope gets krushed and y'alls coveted P4P ranking will forever be diminished.

For all the folks who doubt that Andre Ward is p4p king, here's a simple test:
From 160-200, name the fighters that you honestly believe beat Andre Ward if you had to bet the mortgage/rent payment on it.
You also can't be pound for pound for what you've never done.
Your Mosley analogy is just stupid. Really stupid. There are no similarities between Mosley's situation and Ward's.
How is it any different? Both were P4P fighters at one point. One about 3 years ago, the other about 5-6.
What is the cutoff point to where you've done nothing in that time but still considered p4p? must be about 4 years i'm guessing.
You can't be p4p because of what you did years ago.
Are we going to put Mosley in the top 10 because he was there about 5 years ago and just won a fight? not at all, so why shouldn't that logic apply to Ward?
He's fought twice in 3 years against D-level fighters and has no fights lined up either.
It's not like we even know if he's as good as he was. How could we know? he doesn't fight much and when he does he fights poor competition. He's been very inactive and also coming up 32, it's not old of course, but he's not getting any younger and has huge spells of inactivity. It's only going to have a negative effect.
I don't care how skilled you are or were in theory, if you're not putting it to practice in the ring then against good fighters then you don't belong on the list.
You also can't be pound for pound for what you've never done.

No doubt they do.
But I gotta say, there's a big difference between Floyd taking 2 years off between Hatton and JMM versus taking 2 years off between Edwin Rodriguez and Paul Smith. Ward's last good win was 3 or arguably 4 years ago.
I appreciate his skills, I truly do, but dislike his personality and inactivity.
I don't have Ward #1 because of inactivity. I was just making an observation. And it makes sense because a lot of these guys know each other from the amateurs so trainers knew these guys and they knew each other when they were young kids on the come up. Participated in the same tournaments, went to the same camps, trained at the same gyms, etc.
