i am pretty upset/angry about HOW the fight played out. not so much result.
fan of andy lee here, but he really pissed me off.
first of all, neither guy looked like they wanted to be there, neither guy looked like they WANTED the DAMN TITLE....
SECOND, lee and his team, wtf are they thinking??? 6'3 with 191 reach and hes getting out jabbed at times. how many jabs did he throw all night?
OK, having a ****ty jab, thats alright.
BUT, being the CHAMP, getting knocked down TWICE in the third round, no sense of urgency????
now on to saunders, jk theres not much to say.
he is probably the least hungry and heartless contender ive seen lol..
edit:
AND saunders publicly implicitly admitted hes a coward and is gonna avoid other champs

Fight reminded me of Degale vs Dirrel. Both Degale and Dirrel got two early knock downs and basically fought to keep their lead and both fights were boring. Main difference being Degale atleast tried for the knockout the next round, while BJS was content with just that.
But than again Lee is a much more accomplish and dangerous fighter than Dirrel.
Nope it is how both guys tend to always fight.
Lee has always been a very inactive boring fighter reliant on one shot to bail his ordinary self out and BJS is just an amateurish jabber.
Went as expected really.
BJS is like a poor man's 2008 Amir Khan.
Isn't BJS now managed by Macklin's company MGM (Macklin's Gym Marbella)?
That would be basically fighting his manager, well not 100%, but part owner of the company who manages him.
Doesn't Warren manage and promote him? And he is part of the MGM gym for training?
Either way though, I forgot he was at MGM now lol Ah well. There's still Blackwell, Eubank and Ryder for him.
38? where did you get that from. He's 31.
Anyway, if i was a fan of Andy Lee then i might be a bit disappointed. Saunders did what he normally does, actually more because he put Lee down twice. Lee couldn't seem to get in the position to pull the trigger. Saunders is a tricky fighter and probably more difficult to fight than it looks. There was a few times Lee looked like he could have fired a left hand right down the pipe but he didn't. Maybe he was just too worried about being countered because he knew he could be hurt.
Anyway, Saunders deserved the win but he does seem to let fighters get back into the fight. He has the skills to control the fight but seems to let things slip, a bit like DeGale does sometimes. If Saunders can do what he does best for 12 rounds, he would be a hard fight for any MW apart from GGG.
The fight was so bad that I turned it off, and I am a huge Andy Lee fan. I just didn't care.
Comparing it to the Klitschko Fury fight is absurd: my heart was POUNDING during that fight, because Tyson was doing the unthinkable and lifting the unified HW titles off a 10 year champion. BJS was on the verge of beating a guy who lost to Bryan Vera.

well two lefties that are technical fighters Lee being 38 is bad news. they were shucking and jiving- fluking and juking- dinking and jinking. Lee had his feet spread wider then I ever saw
Lee couldn't set his feet against a defensively good fighter like Saunders.
But in terms of Saunders, yeah he looks a bit spineless but at least he is honest about it. He should just vacate the "world" title and rematch Eubank and Ryder and get some easy money versus Macklin or something.

The problem is neither guy is that good Lee was not considered the real champ just paper belt holder. Both guys get murdered by GGG, Canelo or Cotto. We saw the varsity at middleweight the last 2 months so of course it's a drop off in talent and skill watching the junior varsity of middleweight with Lee/Saunders.
The only thing that I could be pissed off with is the retard that had it 117-111, apart from that I don't think it was robbery I just clearly recognize that this fight was extremely close for me it's either a 1pt win for Lee or a draw or 1/2 pts win for BJS but to have it 4pts that just shows me that whoever that dumbass judge is that he doesn't know how to score a fight with his eyes.
The wide card was 115-111 right? Only a one round win to Saunders with the two KD's.
Nothing wrong with that imo
BJS manages range really well to avoid being jabbed making Lee miss by mm's, and it was a technical chess match apart from the one moment of an opening and that right hook off the duck looked slick as hell.
Thing is though, I wasn't too pleased to hear BJS say hes at least 18 months away from Golovkin, wtf! world champ now matey, don't win the belt if you dont want the expectation from people to show you're a champ and fight who is effectively 'the' man at MW. They're talking cotto but im not sure BJS boils down to 155? Cotto aint going to take the fight at MW limit suddenly now.
im starting to think contenders and undercards almost always show better fights 'cause theyre not afraid to give it their all with risks involved. and most of all, THEY WANT IT, AND THEY WANT IT BAD.
Two southpaw fighters often stylistically looks bad.
It was cautious but I enjoy watching BJS because he is so skilled.
A lot of what he does movement wise gets unnoticed, he has great timing and hand speed as well as a slick defence.
Fury vs Klitschko was a terrible fight for watching but this was just a lot more technical and cautious.
If I'd have bought a ticket, or a PPV, I'd be mad. But it's just a boring fight where the guy I was rooting for lost. It's not the end of the world.
You never know what's going to happen when 2 guys get in the ring, that's why we watch. Sadly, sometimes what happens is a boring ass fight.
