The whole point of my post is to show there isn't as much as a talent gap in the HW division as people make it seem. Wilder-Povetkin-Fury are all near the same caliber, there is no dominant force, the HW division is filled with a ton of very mediocre fighters at best, and a ton of crappy fighters below them.
It also shows the double standards people have, imagine if Wilder was getting dropped by Cunningham, Pajkic, etc. imagine if Wilder was struggling to beat Huck getting rocked numerous times in the process or had a close fight with Chagaev. What do you think the reaction would be on this forum?
My reaction would be, well at least he wasn't knocked down by Harold Sconiers.
spinning it the way you want to. blinkers bud. blinkers.
1. a close fight is now apparantly going life and death. riight.
You obviously didn't watch the fight, Huck-Povetkin were practically evenly matched, it was a war with Povetkin just barely edging it. Huck even rocked Povetkin a few times. This is a damn CW we're talking about, not even the best fighter in his division, and it was his 1st fight as a HW!
2. brutally knocking someone dead, is apparantly struggling
Again, you didn't watch the fight. Takam was out boxing Povetkin early, the fight was close up until the KO. Povetkin is a very 1 dimensional boxer that relies solely on his power.
3. perez didnt train...for the biggest fight of his entire career...based on ? nothing. based on your blinkers.
Perez put on 9lbs of pure fat within 3 months, that's an average weight gain of 3lbs a month. A professional athlete cannot put on that type of weight in that short period unless they're slacking. Perez came in out of shape and cold, and got caught. Wilder would've achieved the same result as Povetkin.
5. you forgot to mention wilder being rocked BY A HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER LMAO
He was BARELY rocked by a clean shot to the chin, again their feet getting tangled up made it look worse than it actually was. Molina hits hard, he almost KO'd Arreola before charging in recklessly and getting caught.
This is a HW fighter we're talking about 24 wins 18 KO's, he's not a cruiser like Huck or Cunningham.
4. this whole post (which is total drivel) is based on you think one of povetkins previous opponents is worse than one of wilder's opponents.

Wilder dominated Stiverne-Scott-Duhapaus-Molina etc. these fights were not close. They all took severe beatings (aside of Scott, temple shot put him down), just to land their punches. People are jumping on Wilder for any little thing.
I like Wilder a lot, I think hes a good fighter and is good for boxing. I think what most people dont like about him is the trend that Haymon fighters have had lately and thats get 1 good win than fight no hopers after.
Exactly!!! I was going to post the same thing. It's a disgusting trend but it seems to be the business model that they think will work.
People are biased, if you look at the HW division objectively you'll see the truth.
-Tyson Fury, HW Champion of the world. Dropped by a blown up feather fisted cruiser, Cunningham, dropped by Pajkic, rocked by Abell, Chisora, etc.
If that was Wilder getting rocked and dropped by those types of fighters I can just imagine the hate he'd get.
-Povetkin, went life and death with blown up protected (now exposed) CW Marco Huck, struggled against Chagaev, struggled against Takam, but everyone's on his sack because he KO'd Perez who didn't even train properly for the fight.
Both Fury and Jennings did levels better against Wlad than the 1 dimensional Povetkin, he got blown out of the water.
These are considered the very elite of the division lol.
Wilder has completely dominated his competition. Duahapaus is better than Wach and nobody gives Wilder credit for it.

People want to see him face better competition. Besides Bermaine his opponents haven't been great.
I'm a Wilder fan though and I'm ready to see him face Povetkin in 2016 and prove haters wrong.
Bomb Squad!!!:boxing:
Wilder is the real deal.
It's just like Canelo though: people are JUST NOW finally accepting that Canelo is a good fighter because GBP brought him along slow at first and fans had grown accustomed to talking **** about him.
Wilder started late and has been learning on the job, but dude is the real deal. Before, people said he'd never fight Stiverne, that Stiverne would kill him, blah blah blah. Now they say the same thing with Povetkin, and Wilder's going to shut him out. And then it will be the same **** with the next guy.
The last time he was put on his ass he was barely 2 years into his pro career after a handful of amateur fights, he's not the same fighter at all. Fury got dropped 2 years ago against a cruiser lol.
The only fighter that has really hurt him recently was Molina, however everybody ignores how their feet got tangled up making it look worse than it actually was. Molina isn't exactly feather fisted either, he nearly KO'd Arreola in round 1 before getting caught himself.
Stiverne was a top 5 HW and one of the hardest hitters in the division, Wilder dominated him with a broken hand, which of course, everybody ignores. But if that was another fighter, they'd be a warrior lmao
Duhapaus>Wach, again, Wilder gets no credit for this victory, people act like Duahapaus was a complete bum when he's proven to be better than Wach.
Nobody even wants to give Wilder credit for beating Scott a top 10 HW, he lost out on MILLIONS, people have yet to explain how he's benefited from "taking a dive"
Wow.
Still not convinced, but your logic makes me more convinced than I was.
War Deontay. :boxing:
im sold.
dude has power and can box
bronze medal not for nothing either
why is no one sold on wilder?
Because in here youre a hypejob until you beat someone they like
because he is fighting high school teachers and cab drivers and he looks like total schit, he has limited skills, a glass chin and windmills his punches
it's totally ridiculous to say he's heavyweight champ.

Cunningham and Chisora are better than anyone Wilder has faced in his entire career, and Fury beat Wlad Klitschko to win his titles. Wilder beat Stiverne, probably the poorest HW title holder since John Ruiz.
Erm, do you really want to go there with some of the fighters who've hurt Wilder?

Joseph Parker has completely dominated his competition as well. Doesn't really say much, does it?

In the early part of Wilder's career, a narrative developed in the boxing establishment that Wilder was terrible, a fraud, and would get brutally KO'd by the first decent fighter he faced. Since most people are sheep, many boxing fans have bought into the narrative and it stuck.
The boxing establishment loves stiffs like David Price, it has no time for people like Wilder, who came up on his own and started late. Like any other entrenched power structure, it can't handle it when it's not the one making all the decisions. It's the same reason they can't stand Haymon.
Wilder is easily a top 4 HW in the world and quite possibly No 1. People make much of his resume but Fury's best win pre-Wlad was Del Boy Chisora, who is a mediocre past-it headcase, and his next opponent is Jennings' best win. There is simply no reason to be so hateful to Wilder at this point..
He an obnoxious fool with a big mouth. Not content being a cherry picking paper champ, he has the gall to try to want everyone to believe he's the number one guy in the division without having the stones to back it up. He's deluded and arrogant and quite possibly a huge fraud. There's nothing that complex about people's disdain for him.
It's definitely the level of competition that keeps people from buying in just yet. I think he's probably the heavyweight with the most entertaining style to watch though. He's a great inside fighter, which is unexpected considering his length. Plus he's got tremendous power. He does swing a bit wide and maybe have a questionable chin, but vulnerability doesn't make for bad tv now, does it? He's probably my favorite Haymon fighter.
