For me is between Pac, Hagler or sweet pea. but if i have too pick from those three i choose pac, i might be a bit bias because pac and one other guy are my teen idols but he also get my vote because of his signature lethal straight left-hand. i just think pac is more southpaw than the other two i also think if pac was orthodox boxer he wont reach the level of succes he's in rightnow.
so what's your opinion?? and let's hope this thread does not turn out as another pissing contest between pac and the other guy
I can't believe how many people on here think Pacquiao is better than Hagler. It's astounding how little the majority of posters on this site actually know about boxing.
It Is beyond astounding. Mayweather nor Pacquiao hold a candle to Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and Duran.
]You act like people picking Pacquiao or Hagler but it's mainly Pacquiao that hurts your feelings, above Whitaker is a bad thing. It's not. All 3 were southpaw, Pacquiao and Whitaker more so and all three had tremendous careers, some of the greatest runs ever but in the opinions of some, Hagler or Pac may be ranked higher.
That doesn't mean Whitaker was bad, it just means he wasn't as good as the others in the opinions of some. It's not personal.
None of this "hurts"my feelings at all lol. But what irritates me is when people like you talk about past fighters when it's clear you know absolutely nothing about any of the other two fighters mentioned with Pacquiao.
To me that makes anything you say on the topic meaningless.

Prime Pacquiao beats the living shyt out of prime Whitaker.
Not saying Manny could'nt win, but Sweet Pea never got his ass handed to him until he was way past it and coked up.
I never listed him as one of Pac's best wins, if you read the brackets, I said I could have but I'm restricting it strictly to great fighters but that Pacquiao does have a deep resume beyond simply the elite.
It's not that difficult to understand, here, let me help you:
"(That's not to mention Bradley and where he may end up in the future or guys like Ledwabo or Hatton)"
Do you understand what that means?
I just realised there's no point in discussing boxing with you as your only a fan of a certain somebody. I should have realised earlier. :usa2:
I didn't mention McGirt until my follow-up posts. Didn't have to. Like it or not, McGirt was a top p4p'er when Pea fought him. And he wasn't moving up or recently moved up. No amount of whining will change that.
You mentioned Ledwaba, is he great? You're a riot.

so why'd you mention mcgirt? I said I'm only mentioning Pac and Haglers UNANIMOUSLY regarded great opponents, which is why I skipped on Hatton for example or Margarito.
You still haven't given any legitimate reason as to why Whitaker should be ranked above either guy. Resume doesn't cut it with Pac, but if that's your only criteria then fine. I listed my reasons, you should try to list yours.

Just by reading the comments it's obvious there are a lot of people in here who have no idea about Pernell Whitaker, his career, his opponents, or the timing in which he fought them. Rafael Pineda for example was considered a very dangerous opponent at 140.
It's irritating watching people pretend they know what they're talking about.

What I said is what I wrote. Stick to that and you'll be fine.

Church at the last sentence. How do you mention greatest southpaws and overlook the greatest of the modern era?
So Chavez yes. Nelson over almost everyone else. Let's keep going. McGirt was a top 5 p4p in his natural division when Pea fought him. Vasquez was a division up, in his natural division when Pea fought him. And Vasquez had killed Winky Wright. Let's keep going.
You're telling me McGirt a great opponent? Seriously? No.
Lol I mean...over Whitaker? Seriously?
