Supposedly Segura's team called off his fight against Luis Concepcion, which was scheduled for December 17th. Supposedly Segura's team was offered a potential clash with the PFP kingpin himself. Seeing as how it would be held at flyweight (instead of super fly) and the exposure it would bring along with it, Segura's team opted to sit out from his scheduled fight against El Nica in hopes of landing the fight with Roman.
If things go according to plan, the fight would most likely go down in February or March of 2016. This would be the second time around Segura is mentioned as Roman's potential dance partner in the last year.
Having accomplished nothing since his loss to Estrada in September of 2014, I see no reason as to why Segura would even be held as a potential opponent for The PFP King himself. Not only that but the fact that he may very well get "Khan'd" by Roman and ultimately give up on a potential barn burner for the fans and a title shot against El Nica, this may very well be a questionable decision on behalf of Segura and his team.
Thoughts on the potential match up? Personally, I see no point in it.

Yeah, he should probably just retire instead of fighting great champions and still top ranked guys like Viloria and Segura, while waiting for the negotiations to fight Estrada etc again.
I mean, if you're got to take stay busy fights while management and promoters work out the bigger fights over time, why would you ever fight top ranked, former P4P level champions?
Should just give it in...the ****ing bum.
Glad you agree with me...green k sent.
Why not throw a few dollars at nietes to move up or tete to move down. The guys a skeleton I'm sure he could shed the three pounds. It's not like these guys are expensive. This fight is just terrible. HBO has had really terrible match ups for almost a full year.
Nietes a slow mover... and even he doesn't see it happening till 2016 late, even he wants a 112 warm up, then decide if he wants to vacate or fight Fuentes again. probably enjoying being the only Filipino champ.... i mean before Paco gifted a belt to this Friday
Another pointless fight for Gonzalez. Too many potential great fight that can be made for him to keep fighting Gallitos leftovers.
Ruenroeng and Estrada are the only flyweights the "p4p king" should be considering for 2016.

At the end of the day, I want to see the unification rematch against Estrada. The style matchup is just divinely inspired. And like Gonzalez was, Estrada is underrated plus a pleasure to watch. That has to happen this year.
I was looking forward to Segura/Concepcion, would much rather see that. Can't Roman stay busy against McWilliams instead?
kiaba, you have no idea how much I was looking forward to Concepcion vs Segura. Considering their skill level and their similar placement in the sport, I saw it as a fairly even shootout between two former lower weight sharks. Also, this would be Segura's second time around sitting out in hopes of landing a payday with Roman, I swear his situation reminds me of Khan's :lol1: .
Oh well, if he does get played for a second time it would serve him right. They did Concepcion dirty by pulling out of the fight in such short time. Luckily (or unfortunately, depending on how you see it) we might get Marquez vs Concepcion III out of this whole ordeal.
Better be a fake out. I was gonna rip WBC for not even following their own rules, but when I read it myself, there was a ridiculous rule that stated to stay in the top 15 rankings/maintain, they just have to fight another member in the top 15 every 18 months.....You can literally fight once every year and a half to maintain your WBC rankings.... not even win
Segura's last win at 112 was in 2013....but since his last fight against a top 112 was in 2014, 15 months ago, he's still eligible to keep his #6 ranking.
Yea, if this happens, I'm not gonna bother... horrible fight, not justifiable and nobody should watch it
He really should be fighting McWilliams who gave amnat all he could handle. That's a good fight and would be a quality victory over a young strong guy. Beating the hell out of guys who are out of their depth is pointless., he did that all of last year.Actually Mcwilliams beat Ruenrong even drop him once, but totally robbery, they don't even want a rematch.
See, I don't judge based on network or TV platform. I can pick out exceptions from each. Simply calling out those who wanna pretend we didn't see dozens of good fights this year from the PBC platform. Plus, I want to see Roman in better fights. Been hyping him up on here when threads about him got three responses. So this is definitely disappointing.
Same here, I know he's capable of putting a beating on better quality guys. Overall though, while there have been some good fights on both platforms, the majority of the events are uninspiring. Boxing has always been like that but this past year has had a plethora of mismatches of pointless fights. Pretty much every HBO fight has been star versus brutal knockout victim.
They both put on pretty **** fights. Both are indefensible.

People sh*t on PBC to cover up the fact that HBO feeds their guys (GGG, Crawford) soft touches and now they're doing the same with my boy Roman.

you obviously dont know **** about boxing, hence why you have a red bar means everyone who crossed your path took the time out their day to leave you a negative rep because you dont know shit about boxing.
YDKSAB
You are just Hating on Chocolatito because he beats every Mexican they put in from on him, and because Chocolatito is Rank much higher than Canelo, but face it fanboy, Chocolatito is the boxer everybody wishes they were, Chocolatito is better than Canelo in every possible way. :boxing:

In a perfect world it would be amnat then estrada....not segura
Chocolatito should fight Estrada/Ruenrong or the Arroyo brothers.

This will be a weak card with Golovkin/Johnson and Gonzales/Segura probably in San Antonio (or somewhere in the Texas triangle). It'd be nice if HBO added Estrada to the undercard to start the buildup.
As for Ruenroeng, I bet they're saving him for Gonzalez's Japan fight that he owes Mr. Honda. Gonzales/Ruenroeng was originally scheduled in Japan on a Wednesday.
