GBP/Oscar doesn't want their cash cow fighting GGG right now. Understandable.
If he fights anyone else at 160, it'll look bad.
If he gets stripped or drops the 160 belt, it'll look bad.
If he fights another catchweight fight vs. another 154 fighter, it'll look bad.
Only one solution.
Fight Pacquiao at 155 Catchweight.
You can't blame him for the catchweight. It's for Pac. Pac is small.
You can't blame him for not fighting Golovkin. Pac is a bigger star, it's a bigger fight, it's more money.
WBC can then strip him of the belt and Golovkin gets his belt.
Canelo saves face and makes more money.
I don't want to see Pacquiao fighting a guy 25 pounds heavier on fight night.
We don't need any more ATGs (like Roy) getting killed in the ring. Let the man take his easy fight and retire peacefully.

I can't believe the Bears lost to the freakin redskins! AARRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
another very small and way past prime completely shot fighter for canelo. when will this canelo guy step up and fight a REAL big threat??????????????????
To be fair he fought Lara, a high-risk/low-reward opponent if there ever was one.
I guess the danger with Golovkin is not so much with him beating you, but with him demolishing you and knocking you out. How you lose matters a lot in boxing and always has.
I agree with that. If he cares so much about looking bad, then he has no options at all because none of them will suffice for everyone, even if he fought GGG at 160 someone would have something to say. Even if he fights Pac, he's fighting an old small man whose 3-3 in his last six fights and hasn't had a knockout in 7 years. But he's a big enough star right now and young enough to the point where he can afford to do a variety of different things.
Canelo's fans would be the only ones complaining if he fought GGG at 160 is my guess

Great analysis. He needs to fight PAC at a catch weight. Big money fight!
PAC might win, or get stopped.
You're right. To vacate it, he'd be at a huge loss considering realistically he probably can't make 154 much longer. Thus he'd be moving up to 160 inevitably.
Pacquiao fight seems interesting. Have a hard time seeing Pacquiao losing unless he is on the downhill from last May. Pacquiao probably would not fight above 147 again let alone at a 155 catch weight. But who can turn down that kind of doe. Plus you know good and well Freddie would want nothing more than to get revenge against Canelo.
Canelo should just keep both belts and if he is serious about being a 154lber than..idk...maybe make the f*ckin weight for once. Would have no problem him fighting someone else 154 for his next fight. Just so as long he fights GGG at some point next year.
I guarantee you Canelo will just pull a Cotto and f*ck around with catch weights, handicapping guys he fights at middleweight that aren't named Golovkin. Even though him not opting to respond to Golovkin calling him out is p*ssy sh*t to us hardcore fans, the mindless casuals will still tune in to see Canelo because he is the lineal champ at 160 now. His fan base and ppv would probably remain close to the same, probably less though because I mean come on, who draws more numbers at 160 then Cotto or Golovkin?
***** ass War canelo! ignored me like a pussie he is HAHAHAA Mexicans are our kids

I'm betting he got the GGG negotiations delayed till next week so he can send an offer to the Quillin/Jacobs winner tomorrow.
LOL that would cause an uproar
close?
draw?
robbery?
:lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
Juan Manuel Marquez scored it a draw and he's Mexican. Oh but I guess Marquez doesn't know what he's talking about, he doesn't know anything about boxing right?

A lot of people thought it was close, plenty of articles from various people scoring a draw or saying Cotto got robbed on the cards. There's enough controversy to sell a rematch.
How would they lose money by putting on a rematch...?

most everybody's opinion.
just because it wasn't a blowout like the cards said, doesn't mean it was close.
if they sell half as much, they'd lose money.

Those are your opinions, not everybody's.
If the fight sells half as much as the first did (it probably would), it will still be a big success and one of the biggest fights in the year.
