I was watching this fight, and Cotto was landing some punches, but HBO commentary ignored it while highlighting everything Canelo did. Even when the punches landed on Cotto's gloves, they still acted like it hit. Of course the between rounds replay was showcasing Canelo's punches. I mean, if I'm wrong tell me I'm lying. Those in between replays they were almost all Canelo, right? I'm not lying right? I get it, they're trying to make Canelo the new face of boxing. But they did Cotto wrong last night.

Hbo is turning on freddie roach fights it seems.
I notice when canelo threw a three punch combo that hit nothing but air lampley and roy jones acted like it landed, everytime cotto threw and landed javs or punches they emphasized how the shots were not hurting canelo, this is weird because floyd mayweather landed even weaker shots on canelo but still won the fight, cotto landed hard ****s but they underminded it by saying canelo took them easy. no way that fight was 119-109 for canelo, its weird because they screwed cotto on the cards for the floyd fight, floyd still won but he won by a wide margin when many times floyd just stood and got hit in the ropes.
The problem is so many of you are looking for any reason to critique the event, that you spend time focusing on who is saying what. We don't even listen to the commentary, we watch the fight. Perhaps if you guys did actually watch the fight, you'd notice Cotto landed very few meaningful punches. Or did you expect the booth to say, "Oh wow Jim, look at that! Thats the fifth soft jab in row that Cotto has thrown, AND HE FINALLLY LANDS ONE!!!"
Just as in the first Margarito fight, Cotto tried to be fancy. No hooks, no uppercuts. Just alot of movement that isn't fooling anyone because you're flicking a jab out there.
FOH.

Cotto can easily go fight on Showtime..... HBO knows whats up.

You shouldn't be surprised by this. HBO commentators have always been biased towards the house fighter. Jim Lampley was damn near in tears when he mentioned that Marquez KO'd Pacquaio.

Canelo won on my card but yes, HBO really is must not listen commentary at this point. Really makes no point. They don't even call the fight. Just take turns sucking d1ck of the fighters.
Sadly this is the truth. Even Roy Jones was horrible and I usually like his commentating.
Same. I think Roy is part of the script now and doesn't seem to be the independent voice he once was. Though I had Canelo winning, it was a struggle to score fairly because of how biased the commentary and audience were. At times I wondered what the hell was going on because they were blatantly ignoring so much of what Cotto was doing.
My wife got confused because she thought Cotto was winning but kept hearing them talk up Canelo. At one point she thought she was getting their names wrong.
Canelo studied a lot of Chavez's fights and really wanted to make an effort to go to the body and I think that's what lead to the knockout in the 12th round.
if im not mistaken lampley and rjj did call the shots cotto was landing too. Canelo was just landing the cleaner more powerful shots, cant blame them for doing what they get paid to do. Its the cotto fans who are having a difficult time accepting canelo was just the better man yesterday night.
We are not talking about eye catching moments, we are talking about the fact that Cotto did land some punches that either Roy,Max & Ledderman either were all wet over Canelo, or they just were completely terriblr bias broadcasters. Canelo did win the fight, but do we really need broadcasters like that? All i'm saying call the fight right. If so & so landed a shot say it, don't start telling me what he should be doing etc....
His punches had no snap on them. and he landed less. Also why would they show highlights of Cotto in between rounds when Canelo was the one landing all the clean punches? :dunno: Should HBO give an indication to the viewers that Cotto was winning rounds? Because he wasnt.
Cotto landed like 3 or 4 clean eye-catching punches the entire fight lol :lol1:

He landed very very few meaningful punches, none had ANY real damage on the ginger
Whats more, the one sequence Cotto unleashed a combo Canelo went full Chavez sr and spectacularly blocked or avoided everyone
Too big, too young, too responsible for Cotto. No shame in that
I'm pretty good at noticing how many punches are landed per round and,I can safely say than Miguel Cotto did not land a single punch over the course of that fight. I actually used to work for Compubox.
i believe you
Oh...I ...understand...you forgot to take your medicine...

Why didn't HBO showcase Cotto's landed punches? | BoxingScene Community
