Say he comes back for # 50, fights GGG at 154 and beats him via a unanimous decision. Would this put Floyd at the very top in ATG ranking?
Original title should be, what would this victory do for Floyd's legacy. Sorry.
Floyd fought at Welterweight because it was more lucrative, but based on his walk around weight, he should have been fighting at Super Lighweight.
So the idea that he should have fought GGG is simply ludicrous. Boxing has weight classes for a reason. Why isn't anyone demanding that GGG fight Deontay Wilder?
Have seen it since 2005, no point in even thinking he would get any sort of credit, they would be like "Oh he would never fight him" then it's "He was forced to sign to fight him" then it's "he would get KO" then after the fight it would be "he ran all night" "that's why boxing is dying" "am off to MMA"
Sad, but true, i think most people would give him credit for that win though even if they didnt want to admit it.
The same people calling for the fight would be the first to discredit it after the fact. We've seen it so many times before.

It would be a remarkable victory that would place him in discussion fo the best ever.
id have him top 10 atg if he did it.
ggg is good and big, if he boxed circles around him like he did canelo, id be very suprised and have to put him top 10.
ggg said he would fight floyd at 154

Honestly nothing, tbh.
If Floyd were to fight Golovkin, and box him to a 12-0/11-1 victory, folks immediately look back to Golovkin's resume, and see that he's spent his ten-year career bum crushing, Golovkin's story gets re-told as the bum fighter who Floyd washed.
Very very little. Golovkin hasn't beat any top names besides Lemiuex and Lemieux is nothing special. And beating GGG at 154 would mean nothing since GGG isn't a true light middle weight. The people who want to see this fight are just the ones who want to see Floyd lose. If Floyd pulls it off people will just find another person he's supposedly ducking. Maybe Kovalev will be the new guy.
Floyd would be fighting the greatest of all time so it would be a huge fight for him but he needs to accept Golovkin's terms since Gennady is the A-Side. And that means, at Golovkin's desired weight and he would have to take less of the purse because Gennady like I said is considered as the greatest/most important fighter of all time.
People will find an excuse not to give him credit like always, in this case it's very easy, they're just gonna say GGG was drained, so it won't help his legacy just like beating Pacquiao and all the rest of them guys didn't in a lot of people's eyes.
