I think there is a bunch of things you can legit discuss negatively about Haymon & some nitpicky things you can dislike about him, but I don't think one of them is he doesn't give a f#ck about the boxers he works with. Haymon tried to use Maidana as a sacrificial lamb. When Maidana was coming off a loss to Alexander, his trainer had died right before he fought Alexander, he wasn't training anymore and he said he was going to retire. Maidana's team begged him to fight 1 more fight and it could even be a tune-up. Maidana accepted and Haymon agreed to give him a tune-up. Haymon tried to sneak Thurman in there as a "tune-up" against a mentally broken Maidana. That's some ****ed up ****. He was trying to get Maidana to lose to Thurman to catapult Thurman's career. Now everyone thinks Maidana ducked Thurman because he didn't accept the backstabbing on Haymon's part. Contursi was angry at Haymon for that and said he refused to have Maidana be a stepping-stone for anybody. I wouldn't allow that ******* at my wedding, but then again he probably helped him get the Mayweather fight.

If he ain't feeling it anymore it is time to hang'em up. Hopefully he can find a nice second career that will bring him joy and keep him close to his family.

Good luck Chino - Lots of great fights you can engage in if the itch comes back - Chino vs Cotto, Canelo, DSG, Thurman He probably doesn't have it in him to train necessary for those fights - which I understand, so probably best if he stays retired. Live long and prosper Chino

Wouldn't be the biggest surprise, but a shame as there's some fun fights he could of had at WW (that said, i'm not sure he would make WW anymore).

Unless he has smartly invested his money, he will be back. Just give it a few years to blow his money away....

Smart kid, made some money that should last him a very long time if he's wise! Good brawler with not enough skills when he stepped up so why go on and take abuse. He could probably be on local shows to pick up the pennies but he doesn't want to kill himself making weight and getting punched. Stay home, grow old and relax he did very well for himself. I'd like to see him come back and fight Khan as long as he's anywhere near what he was in the past couple of years under Garcia. That version of Maidana under Garcia would fold Khan like a chair. Khan is becoming easier and easier to hit, and he was never that elusive anyway. He was getting shaken by Algieri a couple of times. If that was a 147 version of Maidana, Khan would be getting carried out of the ring by his dad and Hunter.

Sad news. His body is probably not ready to even make LHW.

Props to Chino, he gave Floyd a close run first time out and the closest Floyd fight in recent times, potentially Floyd's toughest fight in 7-8 years. That in itself is an achievement. He made Pacquiao look like a straight up b1tch with the way he fought, cried and complained afterwards instead of taking his loss with dignity as Chino did. Chino would never come out with shyt like salt water either ffs Good post. I actually would have liked to see Chino fight Pacquiao, just to see him knee that crybaby Pac in the balls.

I think he had a lot of untapped talent, prior to getting with Garcia. We were just starting to see him at the peak of his powers... Sentiment agreed upon I agree.. He could have really shook up things and smashed Thurman, khan in a rematch, and possibly Porter or Garcia when he moves up. He could have got himself another title at 147-154, for sure. If that is his choice though, I have no choice but to respect it. There is a 154 lbs title run left to be achieved by Maidana, in fact he can go back at 147lbs and absolutely pummel Brook in to stoppage. A fight with Bradley for his WBO version, even a Khan rematch. It sucks because he has options, but again if your heart isn't in it then, so be it.
