according to Dan, a verbal agreement is in place for a 3 fight deal. Ward will fight 2 slobs and then Kovalev next fall on PPV. So far, Nevada has approved only 1 of the opponents that were submitted for the Cotto undercard, that being Cedric Agnew.
The proposed opponents that were already turned down by the NSAC were:
Rohan Murdoch
Samuel Clarkson
others still under consideration are:
Blake Caparello
Alexander Brand
Schiller Hypolitte
Its just like that guy from Roc said. Andre is only going to fight the best.
Ward is so important and popular that even Ward threads turn into GGG threads.
It seems like with the hoax offer Ward sent to K2 he already knew he cant make 168 anymore, otherwise he would have tried to negotiate when K2 opened the talks about a fight and not when GGG was already signed for Lemieux and Cotto/Canelo afterwards.
Kind of hilarious that people here have no common sense and act like Ward wanted to fight GGG.
Its not about the world revolving around Ward, its about the reality of the situation.
Its like GGG fans post the raw truth about the situation when it suits them but when Ward comes up as a possible fight given the situation, then you guys start saying "well lets wait".
There is just no incentive for either to fight GGG right now.
Come on, One Punch. you already see canelo/cotto winner ducking GGG for another year at least. That is plenty of time to fight Ward and then decided to go back to MW or stay at 168 if he wins.
Im going to try and type this a different way, since the other 47 times I've said it seem to have gone over your head. Or maybe you should read it realllllllllly slow, and maybe it will sink in.
If Im GGG, I would not give up my mandatory position to the Cotto-Canelo winner (as well as maybe my other MW titles) because of a "50-50 next year" offer from Ward. I would wait and see how the Canelo-Cotto thing plays out, regardless of my OPINION as to what I think the winner may or may not do. I would let it play out. Period. End of story.
Im not sure how to make that any more clear.
well who is he going to fight? why is it ok for ggg and kovalev to fight these type of fighters but not ward? i dont get it the guy is going to fight krusher dude is huge compared to ward and all u guys want to do is *****. give me a ****ing break seriously.
I have been saying this for a while now outside of Hopkins and recently Pascal Kovalev's resume has been tune up after tune up
GGG has more fights as a pro than Ward yet not one elite name on his entire resume. The double standards are rediculous ..
No risk? Ward disagrees. He has said that he would not move up and then go down. He would only move up when his body was ready. Thats what he said. I dont know why you think GGG is a different beast.
Ok so GGG can stay at 168 instead of going back down if he chooses.
He likely isn't getting the fights he wants. If you are ok with him getting easy win after easy win, fine.
Why you and other GGG fans have the bar so low for him? Put it at the same height you put it for Floyd. See if he can go over it rather than making it low and watch him crawl under it.

All these other fighters cotto, canelo, ggg, i mean the list goes on and on wont move up and fight the best then u get ward who is going to fight krusher and u guys stil find things to complain about. i dont get it at all the guy is obviously going to use these 2 fights to get ready for kovalev. who is kovalev fighting next pascal? why pascal he looked like garbage his last fight he has no chance at all to beat krusher why is no one mad about that? pascal is a name thats it nothing else i mean seriously u get a fighter willing to do what all these other fighters are to scared to do ggg canelo u name it and u guys talk ****. if thats not modern boxing fans in a nutshell i dont know what is
wrong. If he agreed to do the Ward fight, the cotto-canelo winner would rightfully claim that he was "unavailable" and they would be able to fight whomever they wanted next.
Also, by not defending not only the WBC interim belt, but the IBF and WBA as well, its likely that by the fall of 2016 GGG would have been stripped of some, if not all, of those belts.
As much as Ward would like to believe it, unfortunately the whole world does not stop just for him.

but he isn't walking away from the mando position. If he did, then when he returns he'd get it back in the first fight. SO there is absolutely no risk to his status at 160 should he fight Ward at 168.
The cotto/canelo thing has played out-its just GGG diehards that somehow think the WBC is going to force Canelo or Cotto to fight him this year or early next.
No risk? Ward disagrees. He has said that he would not move up and then go down. He would only move up when his body was ready. Thats what he said. I dont know why you think GGG is a different beast.
But is he still hungry? And how much has he lost during this time off? I'm not convinced but we'll see.
Good question. And has the injury slowed him down?
On the hunger issue, well earlier there was no doubt in my mind, that Ward wanted to make a big historical impact on the sport. Hence him talking about winning hw fights etc. Now it could appear as if he is going more for the money than the glory. I suppose there is nothing wrong with that per se, but there might be a change. I suppose thats basically what you are implying?

Manny??? who said anything about Manny? Now you're being silly.
But to your other points, I'm not convinced that Ward "brings him more money" than those other bouts. Sure, the overall revenue would certainly be greater, but does that actually mean more money in GGG's pocket considering Ward would get 50-50?
Anyways, that part really doesnt matter that much. I just think it would be extremely foolish to walk away from the mando position at MW, for a "potential" fight next year against Ward.
We keep going over this. I get it. YOU would walk away from the mando position for a "possible" fight next year. I woudnt. I'd let the cotto-canelo thing play out first.
Its that simple. Why are we still debating this point?

Come on One Punch, its the 3rd most lucrative fight out there for GGG. The most lucrative would be Manny and then Canelo/cotto winner-fights we all know he isn't getting.
Ward will make him more than Lee, heiland, Johnson, even Lara.
You have a potential matchup between 2 of the best in the world. HBO is blocking it. GGG fans are cool with him fighting huge underdogs and encourage him to keep staying active.

I also believe he will not get that fight, as the Cotto-Canelo winner will likely vacate, rather then get their face pushed in. Thats just my opinion though. If I'm GGG, or managing his interests, I have to wait and see what happens, and how it plays out. I would not give up my position based on a "maybe" fight next year. Anything can happen between now and then. And its not like the Ward fight at this point would have been some mega-payday or anything. That fight will still be there down the road. And if it isnt, then so be it.
And worst case scenario if Cotto-Canelo winner vacates, then GGG becomes full champ, tries to get the Lee-Saunders winner to unify and become undisputed, and I guess do the mando with Johnson (which is not thrilling). GGG wil make good money on HBO in full arenas, and maybe in 6-12 months Canelo grows a pair.
If not, then GGG could look up to 168 at Dirrell, Degale, etc, and ultimately Ward....

Respectfully, this is hard to believe. You (and other GGG fans) already believe he is the best MW without unifying. SO why is unifying so important now, especially when you feel belts are not important.
Everyone acknowledged Canelo/Cotto were not likely not to fight GGG before the PPV fight. Now that is didn't do so well, all of us are more convinced GGG isn't going to get the fight he wants.
Knowing this, I think its better for his career and fans to see him fight Ward rather than another MW that is a huge underdog.

I'd like to see both of those fights, and Ward/Kov as well. I just am not of the belief that Wards "sometime next year" offer was in GGG's best interests. GGG has unifications on tap, and if I'm GGG, then even the possibility of getting the Cotto-Canelo winner is reason enough to pass on Wards so-called "offer"......

I refuse to Watch the fight again. :lol1:
Check out that round though. I remember how Kessler stiffened him up with a right and Ward retaliated with a butt (that barely missed).
As for the rest well there is always a chance. Some star-fighters do have a tendency to fight at the level of their opposition. I would never consider Ward in that category though. He seems way too professional and so does his team. Ward should krush these NeXT 2 Cans and then we can get the Kovalev fight. Thing is that I frankly don't see how these no-hopers in any way prepares him for the krusher. This might be a good decision business-wise, but career-wise I think it's foolish. My 2 c.

:lol1: I watched that fight again the other day. I don't remember the flying skull but Kessler came to fight that night. Ward just had a brilliant gameplan.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ward gets rocked by one of these no-hopers. I thought he looked mediocre against Paul Smith. Obviously rust is at play (and age) but still.
