Roman Gonzalez hype job?

Just watch how Juan Francisco Estrada clowns Roman Gonzalez in the first few minutes of this video. The whole fight was like that. Gonzalez is an excellent fighter, but Estrada is on another level.

No. He's a proper quality fighter and deserves every ounce of praise he's getting. Absolutely phenomenal skill set. Hype jobs are people being praised far above their ability levels and quality of opposition, and being pushed into opportunities they're unworthy of getting. Obvious examples would be Adrien Broner and Andre Berto, guys who were obviously very flawed and putting in poor performances that continually exposed their weaknesses yet were still heavily promoted and given a level of network-backed respect not commensurate with their generally perceived worth among the boxing public at large. It's very difficult to look at Gonzalez and notice any sorts of flaws at all. Nor has anyone come along to really challenge him in any way, despite him having taken on a pretty high standard of opposition.

His opponents faced are undoubtedly being overrated to suit the criteria to rating him as number 1 P4P, lighter divisions definitely have talent but less risk and nobody in his current division has the power he does. Estrada and Viloria are being rated above the likes of Martin Murray? I don't care what you say but I know that's absolute B.S. Like Brush said he needs to move up 2/3lbs and go over to Japan he is right you know they do have a lot of talented boxers down at those weights which Roman has fought little of. Viloria and Estrada actually beat world class guys and not just fight a few like Murray Both them dudes are two weight title holders and won exciting fights as well Murray??? :sad6:

Yeah I think so too, he got hurt by that good body punch Viloria landed I mean its not like Viloria has tremendous power. Part of me is unsure on whether Gonzalez stood there to be hit early on because he didn't fear his power or was it really a case of Viloria knowing what he was doing. Japan has the biggest hotbed of talent no one bothers to look at. Roman need to get his balls up, and stop ducking inoue.

Roman Gonzalez is a great fighter and is ridiculous to say he is a hype job. But he is no way the P4P #1. Ward, Rigo, Wlad and Kovalev are clearly the top 4

This is crazy, going from underrated and no one but some of us watching his fights here staying up till 4am, to now some saying he's overrated. People were staying up at 4am to watch GGG don't kid yourself, this Gonzalez kid has fought on the undercard twice of GGG mainevent it will likely happen several more times to try and promote his name. Simple fact is people hardly know sh1t about him and they're just looking at oh look 44-0 lets just blindly follow with Ring Magazine and say he is P4P 1.

tbh I think Inoue is hyped.

He unlike most other guys he's done everything he possibly could at his weight division, his division is clear there isn't anything left except maybe an Estrada rematch but even at that... Besides the weight divisions above him aren't a massive gain in weight so what is the problem, we're not talking about 8 or 16 lbs here instead we're talking about him adding 2/3lbs plus I heard someone say he goes to about 135lbs that small gain is absolutely nothing to him. Weight jumps in smaller weight classes are just as difficult as the 8 pounds or so at higher weight classes. There are smaller jumps because the lower the weight, the more that small difference means. The higher in weight you get the less that difference means. There's a much more noticeable difference between a 120 pound guy and a 100 pound guy than there is between a 180 pound guy and a 200 pound guy.
