I think Golovkin definitely knows who he is. I think he was slightly star struck, and he's definitely not gonna confront him over political issues. But IMO it was a mistake from Golovkin's team to even let it look as if Golovkin supports him. Although.. what could they have done? One of the richest, most powerful men in the US asks to see your fighter. You're on the spot. Saying "no" would have been making a statement as well. I don't approve of the meeting, but I don't think there's much they could have done - they took the less of two evils choice.

majority of Mexicans in the USA have a relative who is an illegal so for them it won't matter you are attacking close to home. Even if GGG is naive to it, you would think someone amongst his team knows its bad PR to have this kind of thing happen, not just about Trump but anything or anyone to do with politics because you're always going to alienate some people. The problem there is that even if they denied Trump or any other political guy of any belief access, the media would then create a story like "GGG snubs trump" - and even then you're going to alienate some other people because Trump has his followers and it looks like you're aligning yourself somewhere else by default, even if you're impartial or don't even care about politics. The best thing is to avoid it at all costs without it looking like you're aligning yourself with anyone. Unless of course you are aligning yourself with someone, then do whatever you believe and speak your mind.
