He's retired so move on!! :D On second thoughts, when grandpa hears about what happened it might physically affect him to a dangerous degree, in terms of the stress and shock, so could be best to hold back. It is the most public duck in boxing history so it's a major thing to drop on someone without some sort of delicate forewarning, although you could sue Floyd for a few milly if there's any adverse reaction to the news?

Ask him the greatest fighters back in the days, pre-Ali if possible. Any horrible decisions he remembers. Also any big upsets he can recall.

Thanks for remembering to make this thread and ask him about it! I was there for that convo and was hoping to hear his thoughts. Interesting stuff. No prob i still have a bit more to write . When he talks about certain fighters and some of the stuff he saw backstage at some of the old tijuana fights. Couple weeks ago a thread was started about how boxing would be viewed by people who watched boxing in the 40s. I mentioned i would talk to my grandpa and a couple of guys where interested and have been meaning to make a thread. And maybe ask him some questions of my own and maybe a couple you guys might have. Ive tried to start this thread a couple times but never find the time long enough to write it on my phone so im starting it and will update this thread if there is enough intrest. Disclaimer:a lil bit about my Grandfather he is a 91 year old macho mexican with early stages of alzheimers and alot of stuff won't be too clear but from talking to him boxing is still mostly there. He has been to numerous world title fights and boxed as an amateur for a bit and i believe boxes a few pro fights. So now that i started this i will update it with some stuff i asked him earlier as my phone is 2% . Ok back and running. Ok so i spoke to the ol man last week and will call him again saturday. I asked about what he thought of between fighters of today and in the early ages and who where better. His answer Same **** diff era. Elite boxers will always stand out for either being fast stronger or powerfull. that boxers today have the advantage to squeeze down 2-3 weightclasses and fight guys who cant cut as much. Did you prefer the same day weigh ins and less classes? He noted weight classes today are about done right but some fighters take advantage of the system. The system was made to make fights at an even playing field . Back then weigh ins were all over the place guys would fight at middlleweight weigh 160 and their opponent would be 164 or 157 and anywere in between . What do you the see the same between boxing today and 50-60 years ago? Coruption. Was his answer and just said its been as much part of boxing as the ring. Whats different ?
