Ali vs Frazier III
Both guys deserve huge credit for fighting in those conditions alone, but Frazier especially for continuing even when almost completely blind (swelling on one eye, almost blind in the other).
those two were close to death.
Name a particular fight where a boxer showed what he is made of. His character. His heart. His courage. His spirit.
Floyd when he went toe to toe with a monster in Maidana.
JDJ was easily out boxing Castro before Castro from out of no where got the stoppage in the 9th. It was 1994 FOTY
One of my personal favorites. Jdj was giving castro a beating on the ropes and i remember one of the guys calling the fight wondering if castro was playing possum
Pacquiao against margarito..
Those brutal liver punches from margarito should have made pacquiao to take a knee but pacquiao just shrugged it off and ignored the pain ,that fight made me realize that pac was really something else.
Only a true nuthugger would pick a fighter in a fight he dominated start to finish
Juan Manuel Marquez the first and the last fights with Pacquiao, I mean in their last fight he was really getting beaten up towards the end and his nose was bleeding like crazy, I think he couldn't breeze at all, but he still kept it together, timed Pacquiao and landed a tremendous shot.
Name a particular fight where a boxer showed what he is made of. His character. His heart. His courage. His spirit.
judah vs kosta, corrales vs castillo...
judah for still wanting to fight on after the chicken dance and corrales winning after the kds...
i can list more but the 2 up there first came to mind
Darren Barker getting up from that body shot by Geale.
He said he heard his deceased brother telling him to get up.
I never rated him much as a boxer but he showed true stones that night to win that belt.
Erik Morales vs Pacquiao 1/ 12th round. That's what boxing is all about. We need more like him.
Hollyfield vs Bowe 1- Bowe landed some shots that should have put Hollyfield out for good, but kept coming.
Gomez vs Pintor- no need to explain this one.
Carbajal vs Gonzales
Motales vs Maidana- way past his prime in a weight class he didn't belong in against one of the biggest punchers everyone talked as if Morales would get killed. Yet he fought with one eye & did enough to win in the eyes of many to include people who doubted him. Lost officially, but didn't matter after the way he performed
To many to mention fughters always show courage & heart just stepping in there. Those are just some that stand out.
Froch/Groves I
Froch went down from a shot that would have KO'd most fighters, took a vicious beating for most of the fight. Came back and managed to get the stoppage.
Stoppage was bull**** but the comeback was incredible. Same with his fight against Taylor but the KD against Taylor was not close to being as heavy as the one against Groves.
Pacquiao against margarito..
Those brutal liver punches from margarito should have made pacquiao to take a knee but pacquiao just shrugged it off and ignored the pain ,that fight made me realize that pac was really something else.
Recently
Berto/Soto Karass. He fought with a true shoulder injury for more than half the fight and almost pulled it off. That was pure heart :boxing::boxing:
