What where the key difference between fighting style ,entertainment,Quality,etc....who did you like better?
His style change up reminds me of Jordan in the 80's and Jordan in the 90's...less speed and jumping ability..but better post game and court awareness.. Great athletes adapt
In his case PED use gave him the endurance to keep hugging and running. But no more. Got caught already.

When he was the Pretty Boy, he fought at 130, 135 and 140. He had a different style because he was younger and had knockout power at those weights. By the time he because Money, he was older and slower and needed to adjust his style. Also, he was fighting bigger opponents that he couldn't knock around or knock out with ease the way he did at the lower weights.
The fact that he continue to achieve the success that he had well into his 30s when most fighters had retired or had simply become stepping stones for younger opponents says something about his skills and abilities.
He was definitely more exciting at the lower weights than he was at 147 and above. Then again, when he was the Pretty Boy, he never made more than $8 million in a fight.
I think both persona's served their purpose and proved that Mayweather, whether you like him or hate him, was the greatest self-promoter in the history of any sport.

Don't ever compare Mayweather to Jordan. That's an insult to Jordan.
it was his hands and the money pretty much. Floyd been fighting since he was knee high. a lot of young kids dont know to take care of their hands growing up. they like the ko and the aggression. the beat their hands in repeatedly and it can be costly. look at pbf early prof years and how hard he used to throw that overhand right on top of an opponents head. I honestly dont believe his hands ever got the care that they were supposed to and thus the breakage. That is the second biggest reason i think he retired the first time. To heal.
Money was in a position where a loss could set him bacc monetary wise and breaking your hands in a middle of a fight isnt a smart thing to do on your way to victory, ergo he went more defensive. You can also add to the fact of fighting bigger men.
It's funny that people bring up the Baldomir fight. People booed and walked out, yet it was just another step on Mayweather's path was to record breaking revenues in boxing.
A loss that night would have literally cost him 100s of millions. He wouldn't have received the De La Hoya fight and his marketability would have dropped considerably. With that in mind, only a jackass would avoid taking the safest route to victory.
Aggression... Nothing of it has to do with age, skill, style or anything of that nature realistically. He went from Pretty Boy to Money for one single reason; to reinvent himself. Pretty Boy was Top Ranks character: a aggressive fighter with the ability to use defensive off his offense... While Money was a defensive fighter using his offense off his defense.
Watch Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather is nothing like watching Money Mayweather. Mayweather was smart enough to know Boxing is not a forgiving sport to the aged... So he switched his style to make up for this fact... Although not really changing his style but his direction/approach to the sport. Although critisized for his approach, many of the greats were too also scrutinized for their approach/style to the sport.
how about baldomir? the fight everyone boo'd and walked out of
1 fight out of over 30?? and that was his 2nd fight at ww(his 4th division) against a guy who has a 18 pound weight advantage..
Pretty Boy Floyd had Roger as his trainer...that's the biggest difference! Floyd's last fight with Roger was Cotto and that was the most offensive fight Floyd had in my opinion since changing over to money.
Floyd had overly defensive performances before the cotto fight.
