You have to give props where props is due. That's a long damn time.
Gonzalez somehow, with some win, has 15 months on the Ring's P4P list and is ranked #1. He beat out both Pacquiao and Mayweather on time taken to get to #1, with Pac 5 years and Mayweather 7 years. All because of course he passes the eye test and has 2 good wins. Meanwhile Pac had to beat 4 ATG's(MAB, Morales, JMM, DLH), through 7 weight classes before given #1(He did not pass the hipster eye test unfortunately).
Here's to EARNING your spot with actual wins, and not "The eye test", that was developed I don't know when. When the heck did this "It's not about resumes, it's the eye test" thing start? Was that an actual criteria always or is this just a hipster criteria?
frickin media hype. i used to like gonzalez but now he is just absolute pure media hype. he doesn't AT ALL deserve #1. it should be wlad!!!!!! what has roman done to deserve #1 over wlad???????? drained estrada??? overrated yaegashi??? niida whose heart was never in boxing to begin with????? hahahahahahaha give me a break.
roman hasn't beaten anyone near the level of even someone like povetkin. NOT ONE.
wlad should have been dq'd in that fight. 175 clinches? what a farce. would wlad be #1 with a dq loss on his record? no. wlad gets hype because fans and refs ignore his cheating and pretend he's a great boxer when he's not. he's a great cheater sure i agree there. even against a mid level contender like jennings he still clinched 100 times. he's just an awful cheat.
Put it like this: Even the posters defending his #1 spot don't even know why he is actually #1.
i don't have roman #1 but i listed the REASONS he got it.
im just wondering why Gonzales got the #1 spot? can someone tell me!?
Put it like this: Even the posters defending his #1 spot don't even know why he is actually #1.
Ask Left hook tua.
He'll write you a story about it
al haymon disguised himself as a serpent.
convinced wlad to eat the forbidden fruit.
wlad's punishment was his long hair was cut by hayden pinatierre taking his power, making him weak during jennings fight.
delahoya then sent dan rafael and doug fischer up a mountain to talk to arum.
arum talking thru a burning bush declared roman as his son born thru virgin birth and gave rafael and iole with a stone tablet with a list of10 fighters with roman as #1.
Where in my post did I say that Sillakh and Campillo convince me that Kovalev is the top guy? I grouped them together with 3 other good wins didn't I? So why rephrase my post to make it seem as if I said that Campillo and Sillakh do it for me? That was not what I said. I clearly mentioned his whole body of work, Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly, Sillakh and Campillo.
Silakh, Campillo and even Cleverly are no better than Sosa and Rodriguez. They are just fringe contenders/title holders. Your giving credit to one for this level of opposition but not the other.
It comes down to Estrada and Yaegashi for Gonzalez and Hopkins and Pascal for Kovalev. Those are the only high quality fighters on both resumes over the past 3 years. Next he is fighting another top contender in Viloria and we will see how that plays out. That's definitely not a gimme by any stretch.
But you consider Sillakh and Campillo good wins deserving of the p4p #1 spot. That's just shows your bias to the heavier divisions. They are nothing more than contenders like Edgar Sosa and Francisco Rodriguez. Who has Silakh even beaten? He was a hyped prospect that got cracked by Grachev.

I'll give him Estrada too. We did say 3 years so yeah, Estrada included. Still that's 2 good fighters in 3 years. That is not good.

You just said 2 now it's one :lol1: Estrada isn't a good fighter now?
The guys you listed are nothing more than ranked contenders. You just more familiar with the names. Sosa was having an excellent yrar before dropping a decision to Yaegashi.
Kovalev is top 5 though. I hold nothing against him.

In a span of the last 3 years he beat one good fighter bro. Yaegashi, that's it. For The Ring title.
37 of 43...man look at his resume, look at like his first 30 opponents resumes, they are absolutely awful.
Give me Kovalev's 28-0 with 25 KOs and wins over Hopkins, Pascal, Cleverly, Sillakh, Campillo.

In a span of 3 years he won titles in 2 divisions and became lineal champion at flyweight.
Wlad has wins but relies on his size too much to be considered the best boxer in the world regardless of size. Kovalev hasn't even beaten a top 10 p4p worthy fighter. Wlad hasn't either. Gonzalez beat Estrada who is #6 on the TBRB list.
I'll take the 3 division world champion that's stopped 37 of 43 opponents and has looked unstoppable over both of them.

In a span of 3 years what? He didn't do anything.
You think i'm making a case for Pac to be #1? I'm not, I referenced Pacquiao's P4P dominance and what he had to go through in order to get to #1, and what Floyd had to go through to get to #1, and then what Roman Gonzalez had to go through to get P4P supremacy.
For me I wouldn't mind seeing Wlad or Kovalev there.
Pac is still top 10 P4P, but no not top 3, or even top 5. I actually find it crazy that TBRB has Pac at #2, and ESPN has him at #3, but I find Gonzalez at #1 even more nuts.

All in the span of less than 3 years. And be has another solid opponent coming up. Over that same time Pac has 1 good win over Bradley, has been KO'd, lost 10-2 and had 2 tuneup fights.

Oscar Blanquet 32-6(now 32-11)
Francisco Rodriguez Jr 12-1
Ronald Barrera 30-11
Juan Fracisco Estrada(good win)

Exactly!
Gonzalez is the most overhyped p4p #1 since the mythical list/theory was created.
I have to agree, he Is fun to watch but certainly not the best p4p fighter at this particular time. As much as I hate to say this, Clinchko deserves the spot.
