this sport is about to under go some rapid changes. It's already starting and all of you can see this. We see a man leading us in the direction we wanted it to go, but many of us are unsure of his over all plans.
We see him throwing money into investing in the sport, but if it fails we're afraid boxing might be left out in the dark with no home to go to. Like it or not PBC could be the end game for us, this could be our final era. If Al Haymon fails in his marketing plan this could be the end as we know it. The push he is making now is the future of our sport and we need to ensure he moves it in the right direction. We need to back Al Haymon.
Many of us don't agree with his current trajectory, this is why we need to influence him, speak our minds so we make sure boxing is around when all that investor money is dried up. I'm very serious. Boxing has been around for a long time, but it's been here because of the fans. You are the fans. If we don't influence Al Haymon and change this course then this could be the end. Boxing lives forever, but it survives through its fan base.
You need to know that Al Haymon is not working against you. He is trying to help this sport as much as the rest of us, but he is a fan with money. He enjoys our sport but doesn't fully understand it. This is why we need to speak our minds and let him know the faults of throwing such a large amount of money at the wall and hoping it sticks. It's not the money that needs to stick, it's the impression. He's willing to throw the money but he needs to make the impression now. The networks won't listen to echoes of the past, and if it fails HBO and Showtime won't have the respect for the sport they used to have. At the end of the day they're networks. These two networks won't back us forever and if this plan of Haymon's falls through then this could be the wire that tricks us.
Boxing has survived for so long because of the fan base that protects it. For every bad decision the promoters make there's a fan base that speaks its mind. There are no two fighters who will save boxing, you are the fight to save boxing, so long as you speak it will never die. Don't stop speaking. You can say boxing has been around forever and it always will be, but maybe you won't be - your sport needs you now. Help it now.
Boxing is not going to go away because of it's strong albeit small cult following. however it will need a very special tyson/ali like fighter to make it mainstream again. I think it will stay a niche sport for a long time.
Also mcgregor and rousey outsolds mayweather's last fight. Now I'm convinced that boxing is playing 2nd fiddle in combat sports.
May-Pac PPV buys > all ufc ppv buys combined this year...
:wave::Flush:
Couldn't have put it better myself. HBO is afar superior to that dross PBC. I won't watch boxing anymore if it is all UFC style soulless garbage.

If boxing died, as you say, it would just go underground where they fight for % of bets.
You want to help save boxing?'
Than get involved............:boxing:
I am involved. Everyone on this forum is involved with boxing. Your word carries the sport.
Nothing! It goes right back where it was before. HBO, ESPN and maybe Showtime. Maybe Spike will try to continue some kind of boxing show on their own or with the remains of PBC.
with nowhere else to go? You think HBO, Showtime and ESPN are going to pay the same rate for a sport that gets kicked off all other mainstream networks? If this fails then boxing officially becomes a B sport. Boxing has always had its dignity and history. This is what keeps its head above the water with the main players even though it doesn't get the same ratings as them. If this fails then boxing will officially be downgraded. We're on the bring of a new era, Haymon is steering the ship but it can up or down from here and we need to back it to make sure it doesn't go down.
and if all these networks see boxing fail after the rug is pulled?

The fuvk are you going on about? Pbc hasn't even existed for a full year,and you act like if its our last hope. Newsflash,boxing was here before pbc,and it will still be here long after al haymon pulls the rug out from under pbc,and moves onto his next business venture.

I hope Al Haymon ends up in a hole in the desert near Vegas. He is the worst thing to come along for boxing since Don King. Boxing does not need to be controlled by a monopoly run by one person who thinks the rules do not apply to him. What boxing needs is proper regulation by one controlling body - not 50 state athletic commissions, and proper government oversight to ensure that the rules are being properly followed.
