So pretty soon there will be announcement on who Lomachenko will fight on November 7 as the co-feature of the Bradley-Rios fight. More than likely, when the opponent is announced, posters here are going to complain that he is fighting a bum. But on Dan Rafael's espn chat today, he mentioned that top rank has been trying to get Lomachenko a good opponent but everyone keeps turning him down....and besides that, the other titleholders at 126 are with Haymon. Unfortunately, it also looks like Rigo doesn't want the fight either.
So my question is, who can Loma fight that will be an acceptable guy and not a waste of an hbo co-feature? Be creative if you want, but it will have to be someone at 126 and not with Haymon.
Everyone will complain but Marriaga wouldn't be a terrible choice he gave a solid effort and is a offensive guy just didn't have the size for Walters
Also Castellanos is w/GB he's next in line for Russel but who knows when they'll actually fight him so he could get a immediate title shot now
Eric Hunter is another guy
Rumor floating around Twitter is that Matias Rueda guy I mentioned.Matias Rueda recibió una oferta del Team Lomachenko para enfrentarlo el 7/11 en el Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas por el Mundial Pluma OMB.— Boxeo de Campeones (@BoxeoDCampeones) September 12, 2015
Really disappointing choice of opponent. From what I saw of him, he is powerful but sloppy. As for Rigondeaux, I guess he really is intent on waiting out his Hyde contract. Problem is Hyde says it doesn't end the 15th. And if it does, Rigondeaux probably just signs with Haymon. In other words, the Twitter stuff, as I was afraid, was probably just grandstanding. Lomachenko should have fought Walters in May. Now Walters is gone and virtually all the top featherweights are with Haymon. Not been a good year for guys like Lomachenko, Crawford, Bradley, etc. Top Rank's year this year has been like 2014 for Haymon. Difference is Haymon chose not to match his top guys together. Arum just didn't have access to enough quality opponents. Lomachenko and Crawford aren't exactly young and can't afford to lose years like this.
Top Rank is a dying company, fighters shouldn't be signing with them anymore. I'm over-exaggerating lol.
K2 would be a great company for Eastern Euro and Central Asian fighters.
Vetyeka and even Gradovich would be better opponents for Loma.
IMO Loma should just move up, I didn't want to rush him, but right now that Haymon doesn't control 130 go up and take advantage by trying to unify up there.
Especially if Salido wins today, a rematch would be a great introduction to the weight and hopefully Walters also gets a belt and a unification with them could happen.
Even if Salido doesn't win, Martinez said this will be his last fight at 130 so that'll leave the belt vacant. Loma could get a shot at the vacant belt since he is the current WBO champ at 126.
Loma shouldn't waste time at 126, where it seems hopeless now for TR fighters. Plus, this gives Valdez a shot at a title at 126. If Valdez becomes champion, makes a few title defenses and gets more hype behind him, he could be a future opponent for Loma in sometime.
Rigo didn't want it after talking so much. He can't fight Haymon fighters. Vetyeka would be a solid test or Grado, but Rueda is a lose-lose imo.

Read, they alreadydid and last time uncle bo lowballed GR.
Rigondeaux said HE was going to be the one to send the offer to Loma, but then they p*ssy out and said that TR didn't give them a good offer.
On twitter he said he'll give Loma 1 million to fight him. Then he says it was Tr, when he originally said he'll be the one offering the deal. Now they're at it again, pretending that Caribe is going to offer 1.5 million to Loma. So they're saying Caribe will be the ones putting up the money but they will blame TR again when it doesn't happen.
Rigo doesn't want to end up looking bad that's why he's talking again.
There goes Rigo and team talking sh*t again.
It's funny last time they said they were going to offer Loma the money to fight him.
But then Rigo said that Arum didn't give him a good deal. I thought Rigo was going to offer the money?
Now they're doing the same thing, Caribe is supposedly going to offer Loma the money.Read, they already did and last time uncle bob lowballed GR.
Lomachenko is a talent, but he's gonna be held back by HBO. HBO boxing is on life preserve. They charge you $50 for mismatches these days.

I see no evidence that Rigo, who was 128 in the ring against Marroquin 3 years ago, can still comfortably make 118. That seems to be the current excuse for why he can't fight Loma, which is a shame. Hopefully Loma can get someone who can really push him. A Salido minus the 100 low blows, if you will.

Superman is gonna destroy your boy.
Eric Hunter (21-3); affiliated with Golden Boy Promotions, never been stopped, only actual loss on his record was by a 1-point split decision (other two losses were by DQ for sloppy fighting), career featherweight, "Philly fighter".
Doubt that Arum makes that call, ever.
Rigondeaux is a 34-year old bantamweight, fighting out of his division off of sheer talent; there's no way in hell that any handler, with Rigondeaux's interest at heart, is going to put him in against a fighter who cuts down to two divisions above where Rigondeaux should be, physically, fighting and then let that fighter rehydrate up another ten pounds from the weight.
Ah, Hunter is with GB. If they can't get Rigo, and don't want to move up for Walters, then Hunter is the best fight to be made.

Well, Vetyeka, Selby, Russell, Cuellar, Santa Cruz, and Mares are with Haymon. Valdez and Magdaleno, top two WBO contenders, are nowhere near ready. Walters is moving up to 130 lbs. It wouldn't be a massive shock if they matched him up with the #4 WBO contender, that Matias C. Adrian Rueda guy from Argentina. He's 23-0 (20 KOs) but his only even somewhat noteworthy opponent is Walter Estrada. If it counts for anything, in the past 24 hours, Caribe has gone a bit off the deep end in calling out Lomachenko. I'd personally love to see them fight. However, if Rigondeaux signs with Haymon, that kills the fight. Of course, Rigondeaux could move up in weight and since he holds the WBO title, that force Lomachenko to fight him. Like when Garcia got a shot at Martinez when he moved up to 130. This is the fight to make, hopefully it gets done, but knowing Arum he would want all control. Wonder what Arum offered originally?

I don't care, at one point Arum had Donaire with a belt, Walters, and Evgendy.... just cuz they have a belt doesn't mean he would've made the fight anyways.
It likely wont be any of the big star attraction names, I will put a guess on it being Gradovich but in an ideal world we'd get to see a fight with Gary Russel Jr again fingers crossed.

Jessie Magdaleno? TR guy and #1 contender for the WBO. He isn't ready for Lomachenko type of opposition though, dude has been fighting 8 rounders since 2012.
