He's never been officially knocked down in a fight which is remarkable, but he's had countless sparring sessions spanning decades, surely he's been hurt or knocked down bad at least once?
I know this thread is going to get a lot of sensitive responses from the usual suspects who will start crying but I'm just interested if anyone has any rumours/stories that are solid
He's been competing for about 30 years and training virtually all of his life (his dad got him into the sport very early, when he was a toddler), so it's very plausible that he's been dropped before, especially in his amateur days when he was still learning. When you think about the amount of rounds these guys spar it's easy to take a big shot and go down.
Yeah I know but out of interest I wanted to hear if anyone had stories and rumours.
Like the guy below said, thousands of rounds, some where he was out of shape and he hasn't been dropped once? Quite a stretch.
Technically it is dropped, if your glove touches the canvas it's a knockdown.
Thats true glove touch is all it takes and only fighter I recall doing that to him was Zab...but of course in his career of sparring im sure some point he have got hurt or maybe even knocked down but we talking about practice PRACTICE!!!! Lol
Spadafora had good first 2 rounds and in the 3rd Floyd was adjusting and the work was pretty even I would say, u never know naybe it was Floyd's first day in camp and Spadafora could've been in the gym for a while?
At this stage of his career he didn't have a lot of experience fighting southpaws, he improved alot during the period (2004-2006) cuz he fought 3 good southpaws Judah Corley and Mitchell, these are 3 fights and 6 months of sparring southpaws which helped him a lot latee.
It was actually because of this sparring session that Mayweather became the gym rat he is today. Roger said he never wanted to be out of shape like that again between fights.
Him not being knocked down in his proffesioanal career isn't that remarkable when you take into consideration the way he fights, he don't chase kos or take any chances. If he went for kos like Pac did against JMM he surely would be down more. But he has touched the canvas in a pro fight against Judah.
But in sparring im sure hes been hurt, just that he didn't publicly say he was hurt and youd be none the wiser. Im not surre if hes been down in sparring, because if he has, the sparring partners must have signed a contract not to mention it as they have been quiet and gentlemanly about it that's for sure.

Floyd wasn't in Camp. Spadafora was in the Middle of camp.
I thought it was even at first and then Spadafora took over. Floyd has exhausted by the end of it which allowed Spadafora to go to work.
Spadafora didn't drop him.
But he did beat him up.
Footage is on YouTube.

Mayweather actually does have an official knockdown, when he broke his hand against Carlos Hernandez when his glove touched the canvas though it was because he broke his hand it was still an 'official' knockdown.
Interestingly the round after that Floyd fought as a southpaw, only time I've ever seen him do it.
He fought almost all the rounds after that as a southpaw, and actually he turned southpaw on numerous occasions when he was younger, he also turned southpaw against Castillo cuz of the injury he had and he didn't do so well, but I remember against Sharmba Mitchell, Mitchell was moving all the time and Floyd couldn't land the straight right as cleanly as he wanted so he turned southpaw and landed a beautiful straight left hand.
Against Judah he was throwing a straight right to the body and got off balance and Judah touched him with a check right hook and Floyd's right glove touched the canvas, but it wasn't called a knockdown
I havenr heard rumours of him being dropped.
But some rumours ive heard over the years are;
Infamous story of Erik Morales landing some shots on him and Mayweather leaving the ring.
Spadafora obviously that's available to view.
Lamont Peterson breaking his rib in the Marquez camp.
Erol Spence giving him a black eye in the Guererro camp.
JLeon Love giving him problems in the Cotto Camp.
There's more I just can't remember.
And the chances are he's been dropping in sparring at some point.
I'm not sure that's how the rumor wen., I do recall reading that Peterson gave him a very heated sparring session but it was supposedly some British kid who injured his ribs in some freak accident before the Marquez fight.

Yeah Paul gave it to him bad in there. Beat him at his own game and threw hard shots. That would have been a great fight, shame they never made it. Spadafora was an excellent boxer and a huge *******.
That would have been a crap fight lol , Paul was right before a fight and Floyd just start back in training , the sht on here is like ol washer women gossiping about nothing lol .
Paul Spadafora had him rolling around the canvas like a fish out of water at the end of their sparring.

Why would it matter? Sparring is all controlled. If you go hard you'll get knocked down at some point. If you go light you'll probably keep vertical no matter how weak your chin is. Sparring often involves guys much bigger and smaller than yourself so it's not a true combat environment. It's just training for the sake of improvement.
Of course he's been dropped in sparring at some stage or another.
As anyone would tell you, nobody gives a shyt. It's boxing.
Yeah I know but out of interest I wanted to hear if anyone had stories and rumours.
I know so , but anyway show me any guy who is supposed have put him down stating it ?
Its no big deal I dont see what your problem is , I know a few guys that were long time fighters that were never put down or stopped you seem to think its magic lol .

Maybe not recently, but there is no doubt he's been knocked down in sparring. Floyd has sparred with other World Champions to train, he's been caught no doubt.
Dude has sparred thousands and thousands of rounds. Often time he's sparred early in camp when he wasn't in top shape and against guys who were fight ready. He's had to have been caught numerous times.
I'm surprised that nobody remembers how he got dropped in the zab Judah fight. He ran into a counter, his glove clearly touched the canvas, but the ref decided not to call it.
Im surprised barely a glove touch is dropped to you .
