PBC purchases fights in a manner no different than how HBO would purchase fights; one obvious difference is that all of the shows picked up by PBC feature fighters/promoters affiliated with ubermanager Al Haymon
I thank that's different. PBC has a contract with NBC, CBS, ESPN ect.
Golden Boy, Top Rank don't have a contracts with HBO, that's were the choose to fight.
People seem to be under the impression that every fighter on a PBC card is a Haymon fighter which is false. A lot of these fighters are promoted by more obscure/smaller companies. PBC being on free tv is obviously key to promoting your fighters.

interesting.........
But of course all those bigger names I named; Khan, Thurman, Mares, Santa Cruz, Charlo's, Quillen, ect were with Golden Boy under De La Hoya.
Some guys have promoters with PBC, some don't. I noticed the bigger named fighters like Thurman, Khan, Porter, Quillin, Mares, Santa Cruz, Charlo's, ect aren't under any one promoter.
But other guys like Edwin Rodriguez, Joe Pedraza, ect with Lou DiBella. Fonfara, Barthelemy, ect with Warriors Boxing. Fortuna, Campillo, Julius and John Jackson with Sampson Boxing. Adonis Stevenson, Beterbiev, ect are with GYM.
For example, the PBC on CBS this weekend is promoted by Warriors Boxing. The Trout FS1 card by TGB Promotions. The Quillin NBC card next week is Lou DiBella. Stevenson Spike card by GYM and of course the Mayweather PPV is Mayweather promotions.
I think those are the major players working with Haymon and PBC.
interesting.........
yea but they just promote the "event", or the "card", but they aren't the official promoter for any one fighter in particular with the exception of maybe one bum fighting on the undercard or something!!!
is that the loophole everyone is talking about with pbc????

typically it seems as though fighters have to pay the following:
1. the trainer/team
2. promoter
3. manager/adviser
that's (3) at the very least, of course you could factor the cutman, the strength coach, the personal chef and all that too.
but when you look at 99% of PBC/Haymon managed fighters, none of them are really "promoted" by anyone in particular!!!!!
so they only pay the following:
1. the trainer/team
2. small cut % to manager (haymon)
is that why/how they are able to get so much damn money!!!?????
how does that work??????
Hymen gets a "manager's" cut or something from each boxer's purse and since most don't have a promoter, he either gets a higher fee or he pays them a high purse so his % nets a larger return. Not sure how it works but trust me, he's double dipping somewhere.
Lou DiBella, Warriors Boxing, TGM Promotions, ect. Various guys promoting for PBC.

so who's paying these PBC cats then??????
and how come some of them are with mayweather promotions and some are not with anyone????

Fighters don't pay promoters. Promoters pay fighters. Promoters typically receive what's left over after paying for the fighter's' purse and other expenses. In this case, the PBC investors would be receiving the profits instead of the traditional promoter.
