Another thing that's bothered me is the fact that a fighter is hated because none of his opponents have been good enough to beat him. 46 fighters (I say that cause he fought Maidana and Castillo twice), 20 of them world champions, and at least 10 are current or future hall of famers, could not beat him but yet he's the hated one. How is it his fault that these guys couldn't shut down his "running" and give him that "L"?
But somehow Pacquiao is not hated after having admitted to cheating on his wife with dozens of women, despite denying women in his country (a country where a new HIV virus is diagnosed every three hours) access to contraception, despite admitting to drug use and gambling.
Floyd is the hated one because he flaunts his wealth and allegedly smacked a few hoes around?
People and their hypocrisy...It's about public perception. A) they perceive Floyd as arrogant and flaunting of his wealth and B) Pac as being humble and reserved. That doesn't make one fighter a better person, but they see Pac as having stopped the bad stuff due to his faith; a changed man. Now if Floyd dumped all those Ho's and spoke more humble, who knows. Floyd has also said things about Leonard, Holmes, Ali so he has pissed off some fan bases of great fighters. In a way, Floyd puts up walls, and Pac is perceived as not having walls up. Since we don't know the inner character of Floyd or Pac, we as society based things on outward character. So you have to look at many things that influence the public and its a complex situation that boils down to simple perception, whether right or wrong.

But back to the purpose of this thread. On his boxing ability alone, why is this man hated for his opponents failing to do their job, which is win.
Your arguments about Pacquiao are not entirely relevant. You bring up how Pacquiao cheated on his wife and such... but apparently he's done a 180 (as mentioned by his wife). So far, no further comments about the cheating have risen up.
Floyd deserves a second chance as well, but don't act like the two scenarios are remotely comparable. Mayweather was escorted off the property his ex-girlfriend and child were staying at, and later returned, to beat his ex-girlfriend IN FRONT OF HIS OWN CHILD. Let's not forget the fact that he actually THREATENED his own children. How the **** is that even remotely comparable?
In 2001, he allegedly struck the mother of one of his children in the face with a car door and then punched her several times in the face.
For attacking two women at a Las Vegas nightclub in 2003, he was found guilty on two counts of domestic battery and given a suspended six-month prison sentence for each as well as a $500 fine for each count, or community service.
Questioned by CNN reporter Rachel Nichols last year about his abusive behavior, Mayweather showed little remorse.
Then in 2010, he beat the mother of his children as I mentioned above.
He's made the same mistakes repeatedly. Are you still trying to contend that they are remotely similar?
So now that we've established that, let's move on. Their persona's. Pacquiao has been depicted as a relatively soft-spoken, seemingly genuine individual. Mayweather JR has always promoted himself as being the best ever, the $$$, and showing off his extravagant wealth.
Pacquiao:
He is now building a two-story church in General Santos City, Philippines. The said structure–which will be called “The Word for Everyone Movement Inc.”–is set to be completed in December 2015. It includes a Bible sanctuary, picnic grounds, and a tennis court.

I can go on and on and on, but again, in this regard who is does more charitable donations/positives for the community? Pacquiao.
Please don't compare the two. Floyd is the superior boxer, but that is it. He doesn't compare to Pacquiao in regards to being a decent person. That's where all the negative stigma occurs. Do you see people badmouthing Sugar Ray Leonard often? No, people actually enjoyed and overall respected him, and he was a popular fighter as well.
Most people can separate the personal lives from the professional lives of the sports figures they follow. There is no defending some of Floyd's actions outside the ring, but that really has no effect on me or any other fan.
What many have done is let their hatred for Floyd the person (or at least the person they think Floyd is) cloud their assessment of his ring accomplishments. So they call him a boring fighter and people retort by posting his many exciting fights. He's had a few less than exciting fights and he didn't try to finish Guerrero or Marquez when he could have, other than that he's had an exciting career. Then they march out easily disproved examples of him supposedly ducking a fighter. ie Mosely (tried to fight him for years), Cotto (made a fight with him within a couple weeks after Cotto left Arum), Pacquiao (It's obvious Manny's side is full of crap after the BS they've pulled after the fight.) etc etc. They'll even bring up Tszyu who Floyd was wanting to fight until Hatton retired him so Floyd fought Hatton. He fought Baldomir instead of Margarito, that's the only actual fight you can say Floyd could have made, but Baldomir was the lineal champ and an easier path to the payday that De la Hoya would mean.
So basically you have one of the most decorated careers in boxing history and because people do not like him, they blind their selves to it.

Well he has lost at least 3 fights unofficially. He is criticised for many reasons. CWs, cherry picking, waiting for his opponents to get ko'ed before fighting them, and also saying he will ko opponents but not fight like he is trying to do that. Not taking risks and waiting for guys he beat to take the risks people want him to ie Cotto beating Sergio instead of Floyd, now Cotto will likely fight GGG cos Floyd don't want any of it.
I could go on.
Floyd Berto is most definitely Floyds fault.
Given that he fought and beat the man everyone wanted him the fight, what else was there to do? He's only doing this fight because he's under contract.
Because a lot of those fights have asteriks on them. There's always a catch. He fought names but avoided them at their prime and managed to catch them later down the road on top of other things. Fought mostly plodders. Always fought a specific type of fighter minus early in his career. I'm not going to start detailing **** thats already known. Everybody knows what's up. The fall back excuse on most of those wins is (they're name wasn't big enough yet even if they deserved the opportunity as well as mandatories a while back)
Floyd fans.....excuse to that almost always is this is business.......so its business to avoid mandatories? That's the setup/rules......that's not part of business. That's what should've been done but was somehow circumnavigated.
The only two fighters I can think of that Floyd avoided in their prime was Williams and Margarito. People always throw in that he waited for Pac to get old. That's not true. A lot of folks forget that Floyd tried to make the fight at first, but Pac ran once blood testing was mentioned. Even Freddie Roach later admitted that was not a smart move.
And another thing I noticed is that these guys don't become "cherry picks" until after he beats them.
I get your point, and of course boxing has always been filled with people who have committed criminal acts, but Floyd is more unlikable than all of those guys, and not just because of the domestic violence, although it plays a big part.
Yeah I understand don't like his confidence and ****iness. I believe he has the right to call himself TBE if he feels that way. Its no different then when Ali used to call himself the greatest.

floyd is hated for his trash talking and for his money and bling bling attitude and cherry pick
and for his somehow boring style maybe (lately), but i bet if his attitude would have been different he would have been loved more even with that style
If Floyd is despicable because of a domestic violence situation then Ali is the same for dodging the draft, Tyson is for being a rapist, De La Hoya for being a drug addict, Hopkins for being a convict. You see where I'm getting at? Everyone makes bad decisions. No one is perfect. He did what he did and was punished for it. Doesn't make him despicable.

Didn't Floyd lock a woman in a room for hours on end for suspecting that she stole his jewellery? And threaten her he was gonna let his bodyguards run a train on her if she didn't speak up?
Was he accused or prosecuted and charged for that? Doesn't mean much unless you're found guilty. If not proven its just a rumor sir. Lets go off facts and not rumors
Yeah but he still went to jail for it. I just think its crazy that people are saying Floyd is so awful like he's the only celebrity in the world to have domestic issues.

Mike Tyson never raped that b.itch.

I know right. Funny how folks treat Pac like he never did nothing wrong in his entire life but quick to write Floyd as a bad person because of ONE incident.
He is hated because he is a despicable human being, not because of his boxing skills.
