Roger mentioned after the Pac fight that Floyd was having hand issues in camp. This seems to have been an ongoing problem for years now, do you think this is why he doesn't throw as many combos as he used to during his "Pretty Boy" days?
Or is that overblown?
of course. he's had bad hands for his entire career, from what it looks like. lots of boxers do.
if you've got a set of cast iron knuckles you can wear reyes gloves and load up even if you aren't a big puncher, and maybe even get your opponent out of there. if you have bad hands you get yourself into a hard leather, fully foam glove, like a grant, and you can hardly make a fist or hurt a fly.
Mostly age and perhaps his general change in attitude after beating De La Hoya. He said he felt like he had done enough, made enough money, didn't have the desire for boxing anymore etc going into his retirement. I didn't necessarily buy that that was why he was retiring per se, but he did appear to have less fire in him as far back as 2007/8 than he did in his earlier fights. Plus, people generally become less willing to throw it all on the line once they get older or already feel like they've "made it".
His hand injuries were a problem that had been around a while and that didn't stop him initially, although I have no idea what the status of his hands are and what he has done to manage the pain etc. Nevertheless I don't have a reason to believe that they were the primary cause of his change in style but they could be.
seriously, if fraud has had hand problems then it's no big deal, anyways he is known as a featherfisted fighter.
the real problem is if fraud has a leg problem then it's a big deal 'cause he uses both legs to run around the ring.
3 if you want tot include the bum in your avi in advance!
Also undefeated means dog ***** when you're hand picked opponents and marketed well enough to pay for wins. Its obvious it was a business more so than implementing a legacy that was more important to Floyd (the Puppet) and Haymon (The Puppet Master). If you are that gullible to believe he is the best due to his undefeated record i feel sad for you. Gullible can easily be replaced with "stupid"
He is the best because he beat every hall of fame fighter from his era.
Being undefeated while doing it is just a bonus.
What fighter from his era goes through his resume undefeated?
Please name one

And as far as his hand issues I really do think it changed his style up alot... not his age he still have better stamina then most of these young fighter out there. Now is he the best ever maybe not the best ever but defiantly one of the best ever and thats in any era. Guys knock him for not fighting some guys earlier in their prime but go to youtube which im sure most of you already know the fact but hate to much to give him credit...but he called out all those guys when they was hot not his fault they refuse to fight him then right or wrong? You have more stamina when your younger the older version tries to conserve his energy
Really shows here who are just groupies and who are real boxing fans if any of you dumba$$ everseen Floyd in his early fights he was beating $h!t of every one he fought
Smh..........
Smh. Do you honestly think you can be a professional fighter as long as Floyd has, if you have "significant" hand problems? Honestly? Boxing is about punching ALL the time so how is it his hands? It's not his hands, Floyd is just a coward. How can you even be given a decision without letting your hands go? Hmmmmm.
Most definitely, he's had hand problems for a while and that's why he wears specially designed grant gloves. He was a killer in the lower divisions but when you're hands are at risk of breaking you will of course be reluctant to throw hard.

Or is that overblown? He loops his right hand more than he throws straight rights these days....
He also let his hands go more with 10 oz gloves at 154
The Manny fight he seemed anxious to make him feel the right hand early, before it went dead he later abandoned it and went left hook crazy in that fight
Let me preface this by saying I think he's one of the best I've ever seen in 20 years of viewing. That being said, his hands aren't the issue, it's an excuse for his safety first style. Going up in weight and not being able to hurt guys, is the issue. He doesn't unleash combos because they won't hurt the other guy, and it opens him up for return fire. He's able to win on accurate single shots and by avoiding, and frustrating, his opponent. It's a winning formula so I don't blame him for sticking with it. Despite what his fanatics say, ww is his ideal and natural weight. A grown 5'7 man isn't natural at 135, hes where he should be. He's had to adapt to his limitations at this weight and has done fine.
I would say that he still uses the left hook, but definitely not as often as he used to. It used to be thrown a lot and in combination, now he mostly does it as a single punch or to check hook.
He uses it more as a deterrent now as opposed to a weapon.
Mainly to get off the ropes or out of the corner.
His hands is defintely part of the reason he's adapted his style, aswell as just overall age and being well passed his physical best.
Just went over your head. Your bitterness creates this delusional thought process that diminishes his accomplishments. And your ignorance causes you to ignore his run at the lower weights because you didn't witness it.
Talk about over the head...lol Thats twice and you failed to respond. Thats when you know you have stumped someone. avoids response at all cost/Quickly diverts with post that means nothing]
Im not bitter btw. I know quite a bit about little Floyd. Past and Present. lmfao, So really its over your head and you're the ignorant one. Oh, here is the post for the 3rd time in case you develop the intelligence to respond more adequately!
This^ made no sense in response to my post to you! lol

I think it has caused him to be more conservative with his punches. For instance, he rarely uses the left hook anymore. That was his bread and butter at one point now he's basically beating people with a versatile jab and right hand and nothing else.
