Mares holding was ridiculous in the LSC fight and he should have been penalized

yea that holding was cringe worthy i couldn't watch that **** mares could of done way better

He blew his load in the first minute of the fight. He was gassed. My bigger issue was grabbing the ropes to try and keep Santa Cruz in place. he was not gassed. he kept a high volume pace for 12 rds....Leo was just landing the cleaner shots

It was getting annoying, i could imagine if i was LSC i would lost my cool and throw a cheap shot but he kept his cool.

He wouldn't have survived the distance if he traded with LSC non stop. Mares have lost some steps since the Ponce de Leon fight. Although he managed to eke out a TKO win in the 9th/12 round, it was a huge struggle. He fades in the later rounds and he hasn't looked good since. He's clearly trying to change his style, but with his diminutive physique I don't see him going any farther.

I didn't think it was excessive. No, it wasn't blunt excessive holding. Mares resorted to some inside roughhouse ... Mares proved to be physically and technically weaker than Cruz, therefore he had little choice. And I didn't notice LSG to complain about excessive holding either.

Hunter taught him well, guess he followed Ward's example, Reiss is a corrupt, etc. Something should have been said. it did get really excessive. At least warn him, you know?

Really did not effect the fight IMO I thought Leo handled it well and he started turning Mares and getting out of it which was a great adjustment on his part Ref was a little too slow to break sometimes when Leo would try to turn and Mares would grab him with that 1 arm. That wasn't clinching that was flat out Holding Ricky Hatton style lol

Absolutely excessive, that last 6 rounds were very hard to watch except when they were both exchanging. his holding was disgusting, he had no idea what to do so he just held on for dear life when ever he was close. refs need to do a much better job because that was awful and I don't like seeing it. They threw about 1000 punches each and mostly threw punches while in the clinch. I can't complain.
