In quotes reported by the New York Daily News, Cotto said: 'Mayweather said before that he's going to retire after this fight .
'I can't point to someone who's not going to be here later. But if he's going to stay after his fight , I think and I know that's a fight that people can watch.'
Puerto Rican Cotto, who will turn 35 in October, is confident of beating 25-year-old Mexican Alvarez when the two fight at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

wonder (if he gets the W vs canelo) if the WBC would allow him to defend the MW belt vs floyd instead of GGG
WBC will not be a problem because that belt is going to end up in Canelo hands

"Cotto lost to Mayweather in 2012 after a unanimous decision went the way of the American in Las Vegas"
****ing daily mail. what nationality is a puerto rican again?
Perfect ending to frauds career, beat a jmw u already beat for the mw title at prob 156(if he gets past canelo) i can already see f lo mo s jumping for joy...some ppl know better.... Grow some balls and go big.. Ggg full 160 and u will get most ppls respect
.... Pacquiao won his junior middleweight title at 150, and the only junior welterweight title that he actually won was a status decreed by a print magazine, yet you have the nerve to diss the idea of Floyd going for a middleweight belt? lol
Who then, pray tell, would you want to see him fight?? Garcia, khan Thurman berto? Oh wait you are already getting berto. Enjoy.
Btw not one of those guys has a prayer to beat floyd. At least cotto has a chance to beat floyd.
Why does cotto have a chance too beat floyd.
Didn't you see cotto lose 8 rounds already?
Nobody wants to see floyd fight somebody he already fought.
As I said in my previous post, Floyd doesnt have to fight anybody. But if he fights for a Middleweight title. It should be against the man that everyone believes will ko floyd. That's GGG. Not cotto. Nobody will pick cotto except cotto fans, and Freddie roach.
Cotto cant beat floyd and I know this because we already saw them fight.
Be taking golovkin undefeated record is way more impressive than beating a guy you already beat.
And not just beat. Floyd beat cotto in a cotto type of fight. Floyd didn't run, he stood and fought and he still beat cotto.
Cotto vs Mayweather doesn't move the needle.
Mayweather vs golovkin makes me foam at the mouth
I'd actually give floyd credit if he fought the winner of GGG/Lemeiux x Cotto/Canelo for #50, that would easily be his most career defining victory depending on how he wins the fight
I don't know if I'd watch a May/Canelo rematch. The first fight was ugly and I'm not sold on Canelo being a fundamentally different fighter from that fight.
On paper winning a 3rd lineal would be nice but Idk if many will be impressed by the fact that it came by beating a fighter you've basically shut out already. :dunno:
agree 100% w/ this guy
Canelo has shown like Danny Garcia that they need an aggressive fighter to come to them to be successful, and Floyd always dictates how the fight plays out so Canelo would again be forced to be the aggressor like he was vs Floyd & Lara and will not look too good, again.
At least with Cotto, he's a much better style matchup vs Floyd than Canelo is
And yet, I'm picking Canelo to beat Cotto because....styles make fights, plus he's a lot younger, fresher, and not been knocked out more than once.
Standing in front of your opponent with your arms crossed and using ur shoulder i don't consider toe to toe. Floyd is just no my kind of fighter. Trading blows, countering, not to much backing up is my kind of fight
To each there own
Except that wasn't what you said.
And you would get outpointed just like the last time, hug his way to the ud
Where was the "hugging" in the Cotto fight? You think that fight was all about "outpointing"?
Been saying this for a while it only makes sense him to fight the winner only problem......hes with rocnation and jayz and al haymon dont really see eye to eye.
Dont know if floyd would want to take a big risk in cotto fight at 160 (or catchweight) when hell be 39 by the time he could fight him or canelo (again a problem as Golden Boy sueing al haymon too)
I'd rather not see it tbh, even for the historic significance.
Did you actually watch the first fight?

I've wanted this fight since Cotto beat Martinez. If Mayweather retires 50-0 and lineal champ at WW, JMW, and MW... well that gives me a boner.

lol @ putting Berto in a list with Garcia, Khan and Thurman. Also I think Mayweather is a horrible style matchup for Garcia, so I wouldn't have been crazy about that matchup either although I would have contended that Garcia is still a quality opponent.
lol @ Cotto has a chance to beat Floyd.
Good post bro :biggthump
