Q: -How are negotiations going?
R: -Very difficult. I dont understand. It seems that they dont want Wilder to fight Sasha. Looks like they are building their negotiating strategy in a way to avoid this fight... I have in mind two tactics. We make the fight together with the Americans in the United States. But my condition - we will do in a best possible way, it should be a show on highest possible level! For a long time there were no great fights in the heavyweight division. Everyone knows what it is, who are these guys and what is the competition. It's a fight for the WBC title.
The second tactic - if negotiations remain unsuccessful, then I am just gonna try to win a purse bid. Either I will buy it for a high price, or the other side will buy it, but also for high price. And of course I'll try to pay a lot to make the fight in Russia.
Q: - Will the figures be comparable to the Povetkin - Klitschko fight?
R: - Yes.
Q: - Are you ready to fly in the US?
R: - We are ready to fly to America. We are not afraid. Probably making the fight in US will be even better. Because it will be there will be a purse bid, I will do everything to make a fight in Russia.

I expect Vladimir Hryunov to troll his way into this one to either drive up the price or force them to come to an agreement without having to go to a BID.
I will be honest, it doesn't matter where they do the fight, just as long as it is Televised and I don't have to watch a Awful stream on a Saturday Afternoon :lol1:
One mandatory defense per year. Read the rules. Wilder was the mandatory when he won it, hence the title was defended in a mandatory in January.
The thing about two was because Bryant Jennings won an eliminator, right? And then he took a shot at Wlad instead.
I don't remember all this fuss when Vitali sat on it without fighting his mandatory, Stiverne, forever. Chagaev held the WBA for a year without defending it at all, then bystepped his mandatory (Lucas Browne LOL) to fight a voluntary, now plans another voluntary ... so that one will probably go 2 years without a mandatory challenge, or 18 months at the very least.
Yet ... crickets. Hmmm.
You'd think Povetkin had been waiting three years instead of three months.
read the rules but how many mandatory defenses did Vitali make? Did you read the article I posted that was words straight from Sulaiman's mouth? 2 mando straight uninterrupted defenses because Vitali inactivity and not fulfilling said rule
Yea... that was in April... Povetkin became mandatory in May... well before the Molina fight... there was plenty of time to order and mandate a fight then... but they push it to October, Wilder talks about making a fight since Late June and rules are just whatever they want it to be.
Sucks you don't remember Vitali inactivity and not fulfilling his duties as a champion, but that happened
Like WBC rules mean anything, they'll bend it to suit whoever gives them bank... they're loving the idea for a purse bid before these two since they'll both grossly overpay

Remember this? 2 straight mando fights.... only one was made and that was Wilder/Molina.
Povetkin was made official mandatory in May... well before Wilder fought Molina... so why is the fight mandated to start a bid in October when He's already mandatory in May?
And then Wilder gets another defense.... another voluntary one?
WBC make and erase rules at their leisure... this is nothing new... they're in it for the money

The guy became the mandatory contender 3 months ago ... how have they postponed it?
The mandatory defense isn't due until January. The WBC have said they will order the start of negotiations in October (look at their rules, there's a process to this) ... and if no deal is struck that is followed by a purse bid.
It is right on schedule. To take an offer before forcing the price up with a bidding war would be bad negotiating and not in the best interest of the fighter.
If the Russians offered, say, $10 million to Wilder, why should he accept it when the gazillionaire just said he's willing to bid as high as he bid for the Klitschko fight ... which was more than $23 million -- and if it goes to bid then Wilder gets like 70-75 percent of that number. What sense would it make to take an offer that's likely $6M less than he gets for waiting all of two months ... and the fight isn't going to take place any sooner even if he doesn't wait?

That would be best for Wilder, but I think this is likely the route Haymon will go as it's most beneficial to him/PBC:
Imo Haymon will work with these guys to put the bout on in the US. Wilder will probably get less money, but home advantage and Haymon gets a blockbuster fight.
What I think they want, when they say highest possible level, is a Vegas fight on PPV...lol.
Just throwing **** around and guessing though
Time to Cash out Wilder , take care of your family for life and still have a chance to make an upset , if he vacates and somehow gets Wlad (which still can happen somehow , because america rules the boxing world) then he will get less money and have even less of a chance to win.
TLDR - take the money now.
Then have your checkbook ready and wait for October
If Wilder vacates, Joshua is next in line. Imagine.
Maybe the WBC would have Joshua fight Glaskov in an eliminator. All hypothetical though obviously.
I would be hard pressed to see a scenario where Wilder turns down a huge payday of $5-10 million because he doesn't feel obligated to travel.
I wonder doe - Wilder has stated that he won't go to Germany to fight Wlad; " Wlad has to come here for him."
I'm almost looking more forward to the negotiations for this fight, than the actually fight :lol1:
Anything can happen. Peter Quillin vacated a belt, turned down a career high payday, then fought for said belt for much less.
Haha well Ryabinsky you say you're ready to massively overpay for the fight in a purse bid, then you wonder why they're waiting for a purse bid?
"I don't understand why they won't sell me the car right now. In a few weeks I will be prepared to double the offer. It's very frustrating."
Exactly.
LOL.

there is reason to speculate since so far they have refused to negotiate and appear to have finessed the wbc into postponing the mandatory for as long as possible
but i guess that if ryabinsky is willing to put up $15m-$20m then they might as well take their beating from povetkin instead of klitschko. povetkin is evidently the money man in the division, and an easier fight than wlad

I support purse bids. If dude outbids Haymon than it is what it is and fans should rightfully criticize Wilder if he finds a way out of it.
They would, I'm sure about that!

Ryabinski saying that he and Sasha are willing to come to the States, and also saying he would bid the same kind of money as he did for Wlad, if necessary, is both a threat and an invitation to Haymon to make concessions on the purse split, imo.

Sounds plausible, especially if he gets bigger than expected ratings for the Duhapas fight.

It's going to be interesting. The issue of PED testing is bound to come into it too.
This is a reasonable position.
If Wilder doesn't go through with the mandatory (or unification followed by the mandatory), he will be stripped. And then it's fair to criticize him and his management for "ducking" ... but until that happens, it's criticism based upon speculation.
It's like saying "This actor sucks because I believe he's going to do a bad job in his next role" before watching the movie.
