Anyone else think 2015 was probably one of the best year for boxing?
Thurman vs Guerrero
Broner vs Porter
Garcia vs Malignaggi (For me personally. As a Philly native, I enjoy the Philly vs Brooklyn fights)
Kovalev vs Pascal
Figueroa vs Burns
Matthysse vs Provoknikov
Canelo vs Kirkland
Mayweather vs Pacquiao (Finally some closure)
And we still have the second half of 2015 coming up with...
Klitschko vs Fury
GGG vs Lemieux
Santa Cruz vs Mares
And of course the big one...
Cotto vs Canelo
Not to mention PBC. Free boxing!
If your judging it by last years standards then yes it has been a good year.
But it hasn't exactly been great either. No stand out fights for me thus far. Hopefully Cotto Nelo delivers.
I see your point but 2015 was bigger than expected for me. There was a point in time where we thought we would never see Mayweather vs Pacquiao. There was a point in time where we thought we would never see Cotto vs Canelo (maybe for some, but I thought Cotto was going to retire before this fight came to.) There was also a point in time where we thought we would never see match ups like Matthysse and Ruslan because of GB and TR feud. We thought that boxing was going to be considered a sport for the "oldheads". Now it's on its way back to mainstream. Boxing is back on free TV. All these happened in 2015. If we're just talking fights, then sure. I'm sure there were other years. But if they make Rigo vs Loma. Its game over. 2015 takes the cake for me.
This year has been better than expected I'll give you that. I was seriously losing interest in the sport and was growing tired of the politics. All things considered, it's a good year.
There have been some decent fights this year but to say it's one of the best years ever is a very far stretch. Some good matchups have been made and the huge Mayweather-Pac fight and now Canelo-Cotto and I'll throw in GGG-Lemieux. But outside those three fights the rest have been just ok fights. I remember I the 80's and 90's there were multiple great fights happening all the time. This era is decent competition wise but it doesn't compare to the golden age of the 80's or the last great era which is the 90's. But overall for what we have now this year is fine. I'm totally psyched for Canelo-Cotto. I just remember there being great fight year round is the 80's and 90's.

This year has been okay. Haven't seen many back and forth truly competitive fights. A few fights had some competitive rounds but nothing this year has even been as good as Gamboa-Crawford.
I don't think this year has been particularly good at all. Thankfully we have some decent fights coming up but overall its painfully dry. Only a few of the fights listed was decent and one of those was in reality very one sided and the other was practically a blowout, a total mismatch as expected.

-Wilder-Povetkin
-Klitschko-Wilder
-Stevenson-Kovalev (I honestly believe that Kovalev's pride isn't going to let him get dimed out by Duva)
-Ward-Golovkin
-Brook-Khan
-Mayweather-Cotto 2 (honestly the only fight that I see Floyd coming back for, as I don't see Oscar teeing up Canelo for the fight, especially with the HBO deal in the lurch)
-Frampton-Quigg
All in the cue for 2016, not to mention the upcoming PBC welterweight showdowns to determine the new 147 king, in addition to the large slate of PBC fights (126lbs showdown fights, increased UK exposure for some of their rising fighters, etc)
a good time to be a fight fan
