Yes,i think he could,He would takes Hearns right hand away and make him overwork himself..i think Mayweather is a nightmare for Hearns
Fawking Larry doesn't even beleive his own BS haha
I would pick Hearns to win by KO. Hearns is famous for his power but he was also a great boxer. At the end of 12 rounds in his welterweight fight with Leonard he was well ahead of Leonard on points. Hearns had the fastest hands, the best left jab and the best straight right of all the great welterweights. Leonard came from behind to KO Hearns but I don't think Mayweather has the power to do what Leonard did to Hearns or the chin to take Hearn's power. Hearns would use his jab to keep Mayweather off balance and land his long, lightning fast and devastating straight right to put Mayweather away. Hearns is the only guy to KO a near prime Duran and he did it with the straight right. Hearns may have been weight drained for his first fight with Leonard and he never fought at welterweight again. Leonard wanted no part of Hearns in a rematch and put that off about 10 years. Prime 147 pound Hearns KOs the prime 147 pound Mayweather in my opinion.
Mayweather wasn't prime at 147.

Hearns wasn't one dimensional offensively.
I say that if Maidana and Mosely could touch Floyd, Hearns would have a pretty good shot of doing so as well.
And neither one could crack like Hearns.
Floyd is in trouble in this one. It's not a knock against him. The whole of the '47 division gets destroyed if you drop a Hearns in the division today.
I agree with everything in this post.
Don't count Mayweather out, Benitez gave Hearns a lot of problems and he was also a defensive fighter but with less speed and worse defense than Mayweather, Mayweather's in and out speed and use of angles is something that would give a tall opponent like Hearns problems, u can't just outbox Floyd from a distance all night, can't think too much with him and Hearns didn't have the high punching output, swarming pressure style and stamina to keep the pressure on Mayweather. Would've been a great fight though.
This is one of my all time favorite mythical match ups. I am curious to see how some of the boxing heads think this match up would have played out.
No ! Mayweather would get knocked out Floyd would hide at 140 until Tommy moved up to 154

Dumbest comment on the board I have read so far. You obviously don't know much about boxing beyond Floyd. You could make a case for maybe Floyd frustrating SRR to a decision, frustrating Duran to maybe the same thing but he has no chance in hell to beat the Hitman. Tommy is a huge welterweight, too much height, a very good boxer with a piston like jab and a huge right hand. If you think Miguel Cotto's jab was a problem for Floyd, you can double that problem with the Hitman's jab.
Floyd's most effective punch, the left hook would not be a factor as Tommy is too tall and fights tall too, his punches to the solar plexus will be tough with Tommy's jab and right hand being a constant threat. SRR, Hagler had success because they were willing to throw caution to the wind, eat some punches and pressure Tommy which ultimately wore him down. Floyd is not that type of fighter. So stylistically, the Hitman is just all wrong for Floyd.
