Brook vs Bradley
Thurman vs Porter
So my question is, where is the criticism of the welterweight division? They are all fighting Berto level opposition or worse. Berto's last 2 opponents are actually in the same league as the bottom 5 of these other welters.
Since when is not fighting the best so you don't ruin your chance to fight Floyd acceptable?
I find the whole conceit of this thread weird. It's basically designed to say.....hey, these guys haven't done sh*t either, they are no more or less deserving than Berto.
Seriously, everyone needs to get over Mayweather vs Berto. It's a crap fight but not worth all the discussion. It's the fight after which the WW division'd, and the boxing world's, equilibrium is restored. Which I am tremendously looking forward to.
But if you're that hung up on all these WW fighters not doing enough, go after Al Haymon like the rest of us have been doing. This is the guy who was behind one of the worst years in boxing in 2014 and has made a bad start with PBC - you know, the entity that is showcasing Peter Quillin fighting a tune-up on network TV. I don't know about you but when I used to yearn for boxing being back on free time, I wasn't thinking about Quillin fighting a part-time stripper.
So where is your criticism of Al Haymon?
It all goes hand in hand. The division is a mess right now because fights aren't being made. Floyd belongs in this discussion because he is the guy that these fighters are hoping for while not fighting each other.
Khan has put his career on hold for close to 2 years hoping for that call.
OP makes a valid point regardless if he's defending Mayweather Berto or not. But I think all these underachievers did was let Floyd off the hook because this dude got past his boogieman Pacquiao and now does not want to take a big risk in this last fight. If he wanted a legacy fight he could have snatched away Cotto from Canelo, at a catchweight for the middleweight title, like he looked to poised to do in the event Mayweather Pacquiao fell through early in the year.
(There was some talk of him taking an easy fight earlier this year and we thought they meant Khan!)
There is criticism all of the time, of the person who controls basically controls the division - Al Haymon.
In fact, Khan, Thurman, Brook, Broner, Guerrero gets heaps of criticism for choice of opponents. Yet it's Haymon who controls their career.
Yes, they should push for better opposition but we all know in boxing there's only about 3 fighters who get to pick who they fight. Everyone else is manoeuvred by their team. These guys put their faith in Haymon, even when they know he isn't matching them well.
We all know it's a joke that these guys are waiting for a Mayweather shot that is/was never coming. But who created this paradigm? Mayweather and Haymon. Mayweather strings out his choice of opponents and Haymon dangles the carrot.
It's Al Haymon, the saviour of boxing, who is f*cking things up.
Porter turned down Thurman because Floyd wasn't guaranteed after. Khan is creating barriers to fight Brook. Brook has no issues with cold wars. And Thurman talks a good game but I'm not buying his excuses anymore.
If a fighter accepts fighting lackluster opposition over an extended period of time they are just as guilty as Haymon
You have nothing dude. Your favorite fighter's crowning welterweight achievement is beating Devon Alexander
Better than losing to Soto Karass to be fair
This is why I'm indifferent to 9/12.
There's 2 reasons why I don't criticize Floyd's exhibition fight with berto.
1. He already beat the fighters who separated themselves as the best.
2. None of the new fighters have yet to separate themselves as the best.
Its time for these new fighters to start fighting each other.
Thats been the problem with 147 past couple years or so, everyone is scared to ruin their Mayweather/Pacquiao sweepstakes so they all avoid each other for the most part, I mean look at Khan, if he would have just fought someone beyond Devon Alexander he probably could have got Floyd, same goes for Thurman but I blame his team on that, Brook the fu ck has been doing he's acting like Khan is the only person worth fighting. This is why there is no one who has risen above the rest of the pack, I can't wait till Floyd and Pac are both retired.
Good post. Its time for these pups to turn to Dogs

Khan-Porter-Brook-Thurman-Garcia-Spence
Super Six for 2016. Make it happen.
Brook is not a favorite fighter of mine.
And I don't hate him. I acknowledged his win over Porter in the opening post...kudos. But his opposition since then has been lackluster so he falls into the category with everybody else until then.
I don't care if the thread was made 1 week early or not. Fights are not being made in this division and that's a problem.
I'm going to kiss his ass for taking the opportunity to fight for a title. That's what he's supposed to do. Now take a step forward not backwards.
Ever since this fight was announced, Floyds nuthuggers have been on the defensive
100-1 odds
"tbe doe"
:lol1:
These threads are getting ridiculous and BS obviously has the worst moderators on the internet.
The main reason why I want Floyd to retire. And Pacquaio for that matter.
I want all these guys to fight each other for the belts.
This. Now all these guys fight bums and wait on Floyd or Manny fight.
It's not even being technical, you put Khan's win over Alexander which happened last year within 12 months, but not Brook's win over Porter which happened last year within 12 months. It's more pointing out your inconsistency rather than my technicality.
Ok great. 358 days. Corrected.
Point stands. He's had 2 interim fights since and Diego Chaves is scheduled when all of these guys were available. Props for beating Porter but it's time to step up again.
And if it's just the technicality you're worried about I'll change it to 358 days.
