Only thing impressive about him now is that he still has never been stopped in nearly 90 bouts. It would be tragic if some bum manages to TKO him and wreck that amazing accomplishment.
Lol, the guy is a robot. As **** and old as he is nobody can ko him.
That may be the case but it's not good for his long term health, Toney has shown marked signs of deterioration in speech for quite some time now. He may just love fighting but he really needs to call it a day.
Its time for a Commissioners office to say no not here!
When the fighter can't tell he's done only the powers to be can stop him.
Unfortunetly they don't care.
Ray Funny but the NYSAC did this to Holyfield when he was on his 4 or 5 fight losing streak against top 15 opponents. Holyfield had much more in the tank than Toney has now. I guess when you fight on television with millions watching around the world commissions are quicker to show compassion.
Was so sad and worrying to see him in our (the UK) Prizefighter 3 round KO Tournament a couple of years ago. They had him on Ringside (boxing weekly show since cancelled for TV) to hype the event, he stood up to show them some moves and staggered forwards almost losing his balance - pretty poor that when the damage is so clear these outlets still hype his appearances and have him on.
Just because it's 'All he knows', we shouldn't idly watch as he takes more & more uneccessary punishment, because we all know where it will end. I'm all for allowing him to make a living but there are a multitude of other ways he can do it, and hopefully with help from the boxing community.
I hope he doesn't have issues later in life but I fear he might. Apparently Audley is having problems already and he's younger and had many less fights (yes I know he was also badly knocked-out several times & I also said he should retire before he did due to this).

Doesn't the guy have a right to make a living? Boxing is all James Toney knows
James Toney loses to nobodies all the time, did you not watch him fail to win a prize fighter tournament?
True but given it was a 3 round fight and on a good day Toney isn't even warmed up past 5 rounds that was inevitable! Funny because Gavern who beat him in the tournament went on to get knocked out by Wilder in their 10 round bout less than a year later in round 4 of a 10 round bout.

Damn... This fight was in St. Louis... I almost went to it but had other plans...
Toney will forever be one of my favorites but dude is done and needs to retire
**** he needed to retire way before last night. I think I've understood about 20 words he's said since 1999 ffs.
He can always be relied on to deliver a "Nahm sayin" in a clear and crisp manner. The day he loses that ability will be a sad one indeed.
WOW...Charles Ellis is a 40 year old who only fought 13 4 & 6 round fights for a total of 43 rounds against nobodies. This was his 1st 10 round fight ever and Toney lost a UD to him...so sad.
:lol1: @ your sig
