I cant remember the last good showtime boxing card and i dont think there are any big fights on there radar, most fights coming on PBC and HBO, is showtime boxing dead ?
I would think if PBC is a runaway success Showtime Boxing (certainly Showtime Championship Boxing) will have a much harder time staying afloat than HBO. Showtime has no other fights going on other than the fights Haymon doesn't think are good enough for PBC. They may have some great alternate plan they're working on, but we certainly haven't seen it.
If PBC flops, Showtime Boxing could become awesome because all the Haymon guys will have to come crawling back to Showtime.
Showtime by itself couldn't handle all of Haymon's fighters, this is why they're on so many channels now, it's not possible for Haymon Boxing to exist on 1 network only, this is why they have to make PBC work.
Showtime isn't going anywhere, ShoBOX is PBC's parachute, there's a reason there still showing cards on there. If and when PBC can stand on it's own, I could see them phasing out ShoBOX.

All I know is since PBC started Showtime boxing has pretty much been low level showbox cards. Some of those were good fights, but if Showtime doesn't have a few decent fights lined up by the time this season of Ray Donovan ends I think I am dropping it.
So PBC isn't giving me free boxing, but it is saving me 13.99 a month or whatever it is.
If you paid them what Haymon is paying them for air time, you could show your home videos for all CBS would care. They are making money in a dead timeslot instead of breaking even or taking a loss. When Haymon stops paying, there will be no more PBC on CBS.
Can you post a link to how much haymon is paying? You talk like if your his accountant.
Smh It's crazy to me how some boxing fans are rooting against PBC
I don't get it either, its like these so-called boxing fans don't want to watch more boxing for free than they ever could before. They perfer to pay for mismatches on HBO and showtime then watch them for free lol
Showtime entire budget for the year went to Mayweather vs Pacquiao :lol1: plus another $30 Million they have Guaranteed for him
that fight likely saved their ass. youre crazy if you dont think they made a profit off of it.

Really? Well how much is Haymon paying CBS?
When I say buying in I'm not referring to monies paid to PBC. You said showing boxing on Showtime and CBS is a win-win for them. Why? You're proving my point.
CBS has full insider knowledge on how lucrative the sport is or isn't. That they continue to buy in via Showtime and are now airing it on their channel tells you that they've bought in alright. They don't just put anything on because it's "free."

CBS has bought in to nothing at all. PBC is paying CBS for the air time to broadcast their programs. CBS is not paying PBC. So for CBS it's a win-win situation. They get boxing to show on their network and they don't have to pay for it.

Depends on what Showtime's end game is. For now, all we can say is that they put up a large chunk of change into boxing and generated a nice return. Now the sport has moved to their parent network. If anything, PBC revived the sport on Showtime. So much so that the higher ups at CBS have bought in.

Showtime is fighting back now with this Floyd-Berto ppv
I should have you charged with attempted murder. I had just taken a bite of my steak when I read your post and almost choked myself to death. :)
haymon/espinoza
when haymon/GBP was dealing with hbo. showtime was killing it. hbo sucked.
FOTY-type fights and great matchups.
showtime use to buy the best matchups available. no fighter/promoter contracts (EXCEPT LIKE TYSON). they just put on best fights available.
haymon screwed up showtime.
showtime took over the game in 2013 and was the future of boxing television
then stephen espinoza worked his magic.
Espinoza still has Mayweather's final fight (plus a relationship that would give Showtime the inside track on fight #50, were Floyd to decide to fight again), still has Deontay Wilder (his September fight will be on primetime NBC, but Wilder-Povetkin, and Wilder-Klitschko/Fury winner will both likely end up on Showtime , and (if he finally commits to the sport) he still has Chavez Jr .
You add that CBS/Showtime has the inside track on ending up with the eventual PBC content deal (PBC is likely to also continue the ESPN, Sp1keTV, and BounceTV monthly cards, though NBC/NBCSN is also in the running for the big deal), and you're just hating.
My take is Espinoza was hired because of Haymon. He's just one of the pawn pieces Haymon (and Schaefer at that time) played when they were pitching their plan to CBS executives over a dinner table in some 5 star restaurant.
With Mayweather aboard, the trio's (Haymon/Schaefer/Espinoza) plan was to make truckloads of money off of PPV earnings. Schaefer is of the belief that HBO was cheating and was not giving the right PPV numbers when he was with them. He believes PPVs could be more. If you recall, Schaefer was the guy who predicted unbelievable PPV sales such as 3 million in the Mosley/Mayweather, then another 3 million in the Canelo fight. Schaefer finally discovered first hand that it's really not that huge. It's not really that lucrative. Especially when you guarantee a fighter $40 million per fight. Maidana vs Broner was initially given a PPV signal by Schaefer, but later decided it's not worth it. From there things began to go downhill. It's not sustainable. We all know that HBO doesn't like PPV's. They'd rather do regular fights on subscription.
