Seriously, almost all the PBC fights are like last nights card where there is a clear favorite against a older washed up veteran with a name who realistically has no shot. Or a name vs a straight up bum.
Sure, we get the occasional Porter vs Broner and Mares vs LSC but most of these fights end up as we think and they lead to nothing. What does Thurman beating Collazzo lead to? Garcia beating Paulie? Who cares, we expected those things to happen and it's not like it builds any other fights up with those victories.
I'm happy there is more boxing on tv but most of these cards are just "stay busy" type fights and lead to nothing...
Canelo had fought Trout,Mayweather,Angulo,Lara..then Kirkland who was like 32-1.. So stop acting like he's rod fking Salka will ya.
When Quillen,Jacobs,Cotto, lee, or whoever else wanna grow some balls and fight GGG I'm sure he'll sign the contract. Took them a week to get a champion in Lemieux in there. At least he has a sack.
But Canelo-Kirkland was "meaningless" according to the thread as it had no real title implications
WTF? ***** cause you don't get the fights that you want, then ***** when you get the fights. Then you'll ***** after the fights too.
:bottle:
Wtf are you talking about? All I see is names vs bums. Or prospects vs bums.. With the occasional 2 names against each other. Nobody cried when Thurman -Guerrero got made. Or porter-Broner, except for the weight thing.
That's the fault of the sanctioning bodies. If you look at other professional sports, most matches would be meaningless if there was no sense of progress; the results have meaning because they're awarded points which can move them up a table, or they determine whether or not they stay in the competition.
In boxing a fighter's ranking is worth next to shit so the only relevant matches are between big name fighters or title matches. If they had a tournament system in place, the results would matter more: The Super Middleweight tournament is proof of that. If they had a system in place where the number one ranked contender would get a title shot, people would give more consideration to a fighter trying to move up the rankings.
only pbc show I watched was Thurman-Guerrero
praying it doesn't change into some UFC type ****.
UfC consistently has the #1 vs #2 fight each other at least. They don't do #1 vs #70 from the division below haha...
90% of boxing fights period are "meaningless" in terms of belts, titles, etc. Were Canelo-Kirkland and GGG- Monroe "meaningful"?

Haymon got a 420 million $ loan, if pbc fails,no one is ever going to try to build this sport up in your lifetime again, that's for sure.
It wasn't a loan, a large private equity/hedge fund put up the cash
I love the logic here.
Getting free fights on tv will be boxing's final nail in the coffin?
The future of boxing depends on guys like Wilder, Khan, and Santa Cruz?
Some of you boxing fans are so ****ing dumb. Unbelievably dumb.
Awhile ago, I was watching television and some crappy made for Sci-Fi channel movie that was like a copy of Independence Day came on and it was a steaming pile of manure. They also have a Transformers style piece of crap as well and rip offs of other big name franchises. They even rip off the names as close as possible as well. I will not waste my time watching this kind of trash but maybe I should waste two hours or more of my life because it was made for TV and I didn't have to pay 15 bucks to see it in a theater? Maybe everyone should boycott the huge blockbuster movies and sit at home and watch these made for TV versions of pure horse manure instead?
Yeah... I didn't think so. Free does not mean that something is worth spending your time watching. Don't forget, time is the most valuable thing you possess. You can never earn more of it and once it is spent, it's gone forever. My time is too valuable to spend watching PBC CRAP.
He doesn't have the roster to make game changing fights just yet.
It will take more than one fight to get there. Porter beating Broner for example will lead to say Garcia which can lead to Khan/Thurman/Brook which would create a new #1 welterweight.
Just takes time.
Exactly^^^^^^^^^^^

quillin vs tony jeter
trout vs joey hernandez
bute vs some guy
huck vs glowacki
wilder vs some guy
tarver vs cunningham
stevenson vs karpency
garcia vs malignaggi
jacobs vs mora
santa cruz vs mares
you are right. 1 out of 10. that one is only being made because haymon ruined both guys careers with a series of mismatches
A lot of people here called it before PBC even started. Al Haymon has always been more interested in lining his own pockets instead of actually helping the sport. Look at his track record. He is a shady "businessman" with no Boxing backround who has contributed greatly in turning Boxing even more and more into the business side than a legitimate competitive sport.
Did anyone really believe he would change his ways with PBC? Just about every single PBC fight so far has had a predictable outcome. Many of us REALLY do hope it will improve, succeed and help grow the sport more, but so far it's mostly been just the same old Hymen bullshit with a handful of decent matchups sprinkled in between giant steaming piles of elephant turd. This most likely is hurting the sport more than helping at this point.
Someone should make a thread titled THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY and list all of the PBC fights so far and we can categorize them into those three sections. Because it's too simplistic to just say PBC SUCKS or PBC IS GREAT, it's somewhere in between it's been a mixture of good, bad and ugly.
Off the top of my head:
THE GOOD
Garcia vs Peterson
Broner vs Porter
Quillin vs Lee
Harrison vs Nelson
Dirrell vs DeGale
Thurman vs Guerrero
Santa Cruz vs Mares
THE BAD
Garcia vs Paulie Malignaggi
Lara vs Rodriguez
Khan vs Algieri (fight turned out pretty good tho)
Bute vs Andrea Di Luisa
Frampton vs Gonzalez
Broner vs Molina
THE UGLY
Garcia vs Salka
Thurman vs Collazo
Stevenson vs Bika
Stevenson vs Tommy Karpency
Mora vs Abraham Han
There's more but you get the idea
neither was an actual PBC fight
They haven't happened yet? Wtf does that matter, there both happening.
Only reason canelo cotto hasn't been announced as official is there playing a game of chicken with floyd/haymon.
Come on man. Its funner when you dont show your hand so soon
I don't like how PBC tries to shove these guys down everyone's throats and how they just ignore all the other better fighters outside of PBC. Trying to brainwash saps that this is the best there is. No wonder people don't want to tune in. That sh*ts depressing ...
Of course, that's only if you believe the drivel they spew.
"I'm Deontay Wilder, and I'm the Heavyweight Champion of the World."
"Russell becomes 126 pound kingpin in his second shot at the title!"
Yeah, let's just pretend that he hadn't just lost so bad in his last fight that Lomachenko almost got an attempted manslaughter charge levied at him.
I agree, I dont like how PBC tries to ignore all other fighter that dont fight on the network.
Pretending they dont exist wont make them go away. Last thing I want to see is a PBC belt. Dont need nemore belts watering boxing down that much more. I watch PBC everytime it comes on but do think they would benefit from Schaffer aboard.
im not here to argue or name call but its obvious you are just bias and have an issue with something as ur making all the excuses in the world for one side. pbc does have cheesy production but come on man this backlash has to have some other agenda behind it, u guys are bringing up the ali act, making threads daily hoping it fails, i mean what was so much better before pbc as far as match making? top rank fed us the same ol BS for years, golden boy isnt doing much, just relax man sht!
I supported PBC before I saw what it became, you can look in my history if you don't believe me. Heck I'm one of the few people on this board who actually is talking about the Raushee Warren fight, and actually wants to see it, unlike you blind PBC dick riders who always talk about PBC but I never see y'all talking about the fights.
I actually like the production, like the different time slots they fill, have enjoyed some of the fights.
But mostly, it's garbage.
It's a fact, that unless Haymon learns to build stars, learns to build up fights, PBC has nothing. Boxng is, always had been, and always will be about the stars.
I find it ****ing hilarious how before PBC went live all you guys said, it would be great because he will make all the fights fans want to see.
Where they at?
