Double standards.... Mayweather has defeated like 13 major world titleholders in a row
Berto is as well
He could fight anyone not a middleweight and some will complain anyway
He can fight who he wants he already beat everyone who matters
Smh.........
Pac was shot.. rios and algeiri were supposed to put up better fights.
Floyd was just a money grab for a waited out shot fighter..
Duhhh.
Manny was shot? You don't know anything about boxing if you think that, man. Manny won the fight, so how was he shot? What about his performance made you say that? Other than the fact that he tore his rotator's cuff? What fight did you watch?

uh, usually I co-sign anything you post as a fellow flow-moe, but really dude? Comon. The uproar was huge for the Algieri cherry pick, don't be ridiculous.
Pac came off a devastating KO loss. And Algeiri is better than a lot of guys Floyd has fought recently anyway.
Floyd is coming off the biggest fight of our time, and put the entire world to sleep with his boring performance. He owes the fans, not the other way around.
You Floyd stains are so delusional you think you owe him something. It's sad and pathetic the excuses you make for this guy, "Floyd earned this yo."
Earned what exactly? I paid 100 bucks to be entertained, not to watch a dude, grab and run for 12 damn rounds.
Maybe they do. They get paid by Floyd to post garbage.
Calling yourself "TBE" and then taking a soft opponent doesn't really add up. However, Berto is just as capable as any of the others in the division at this point so I don't see the issue with the fight.
If Mayweather was serious about being remembered as TBE, he would have faced GGG. Bradley is the only one at 147 who wins a few rounds against him, but we all know that fight will never happen.
Trivia question: Who did "The Greatest" fight after the "The Rumble in the Jungle"?
Hint: A fighter that makes Berto look like the second coming of SRR.
dude he's 31 years old. he is never going to be anything more than he is now. Can't you understand that?
Manny could struggle against a guy like Floyd that can control distance with his length. Algieiri can't do that. remember he has no amateur experience. he was kickboxing.
Thats where a major flaw lies for Chris Alighieri in his boxing career is that he's used to using his feet in order to control the distance and he needs to improve on doing that with his jab.
I'm not a Floyd fan but after giving Paquia a boxing lesson and Amir Khan once again needing more time to recover from Rammadan it would appear that theres nothing wrong with FLoyd fighting Berto.

You got the article from Algieiri's hometown newspaper dude, come on.
Sparring footage? you watched him spar and that is how you determined he's an up and comer.
Ok.
When I say "up and comer" I don't mean "going to be running the division in a few years" I just mean "early in his career and showing promise". So yes, Algieri's performances, not just from the sparring footage, did give me that impression.
And my bad, didn't realize that was a Long Island newspaper. Ignore that article, and refer instead to this one.
"Pacquiao could struggle against a fighter who is able to control the distance, use every inch of the ring and stay out of his range."
"If he’s able to pop Pacquiao’s head back the way he did Provodnikov, he could have something big to build upon."
"Algieri is an athletic boxer who builds his offensive attack off a stiff jab and movement. His style, reach and length can give Pacquiao more than a couple of problems, "

I'm sorry, are you suggesting I should give a **** about any of the fights he had against primarily bums? I watched a good deal of his workout/sparring footage and those fights, which frankly is about as much as I can say is relevant imho. You're reaching if you feel it's necessary to watch his fights with fighters like 14-12 Wilfredo Acuna etc to reach conclusions on him.
I definitely would have seen him again, I thought he showed some grit against Provo and I've had less reason to watch fights of other fighters. We would likely have seen him fight in his next fight defending his world title against a 140 contender or moving up against someone else at 147 if not for Pac.
What reason do you have to keep saying that we wouldn't have seen Algieri again exactly? He won The Ring Magazine's Upset of the Year in a fight for a title that was at the Barclay's center and the co-main event of a card on HBO. What are the odds he'd suddenly disappear after that?
Also, keep telling yourself that only pac-turds thought Algieri could win. Took me not 5 seconds to find an article that suggests otherwise. Find me one article from a reputable news source that isn't just quoting from Berto or his trainer/camp (or Floyd/his camp), that like the article mentioned below describes a way that Berto could have a chance to beat Floyd, and I'll change my avi to a pic of Floyd until the end of the calendar year. Just one.
"Algieri can win this fight with his jab. "
"That firm jab will be what knocks Pacquiao off his game and his reach will make it that much harder for Pac Man to penetrate with his attack."
"If Pacquiao settles into a chess match with Algieri, the Long Islander's jab can carry the day."
"If Algieri gets into a comfortable rhythm of landing his jab and right hand, even the great Pacquiao will have trouble beating him."

dude, you just admitted you watched algieri/provo then went back and watched Taylor/algieri. You've seen 3 fights live and 1 on tape, where he is 2-2, about 20% of his total fights. Is this enough to make a fair judgment about him?
So when he fought Manny you had seen 2 fights of his. if he wasn't on HBO when would you have seen him?
Yes, Berto isn't where he was, but Algieiri isn't even where Bert is right now. he has NO WW WINS. Berto at least won his last WW fight, even if it wasn't an earth shattering performance.

Yes he did lose to khan on the cards but it was a super close fight and could have went either way. But no way absolutely no way Berto beats Algierie now.
I can respect your opinion. I'm just asking Algieri win 1 fight at WW before we proclaim his ability to beat Berto. Again Berto isn't much, but Algieiri has never been on his level, even the low level he is on currently.
These "Where was all the uproar.." type threads need to stop.
1. Not everything is comparable.
2. How the hell do some of you morons not understand that Mayweather is extremely difficult for a decent human being to like or respect? Of course he is going to get more "hate."
So you are saying he's a much better pro now then Algierie? Or was a better pro than Alguerie at one point.
Because right now I'd totally pick Algierie to beat Berto and beat him quite easily without question.
But before Berto was raped by Ortiz, Guerrero and Soto-karrass and turned into a zombie I'd pick Berto over Algierie.
I'd still take Berto. Algieiri hasn't shown he can beat a WW yet. he did fight Khan tough, but that is still a loss.
You have to consider both wins and losses over his career, and where he is currently at. Yes, at one time Berto was doing quite well. All the wins you just mentioned were good wins but they happened 5+ years ago. The Berto that beat those guys is not who he is anymore. He's washed up.
And again, because I watched Algieri-Provo, I would absolutely know who Algieri is. But feel free to keep saying that to yourself.

At some point guys like you need to value wins. You give Algieiri all this credit for losing tough to khan and for beating Provo because Provo fought tough and lost to Tim. meanwhile Berto beats people like Carlos Quintana (that beat Paul Williams) Collazo, Urango all that are better than Provo.
Berto may not be great, but Algieiri is NEVER going to have the same level of respect Berto had in his career.
If Algieri didn't fight Manny, you would never have known he existed.

Pacquiao was originally supposed to fight Provo, because everyone expected him to win.
But he didn't--- so he fought Algieri (who won).
The Brandon Rios was a tuneup fight after being KTFO. Nothing wrong with that.
We'll just have to agree to disagree on this point. If Floyd was fighting someone like Sadam Ali the analogy would work better in my view. Or I guess to be fair I should make the analogy with a 140lber, so maybe someone like Rances Barthelemy. *shrug*
I agree that Algieri shouldn't have been the opponent for Manny, but I think Berto is a worse pick is all I'm saying.

Yes, he did well against Khan, most likely because Khan is one of the more over rated boxers out today.
That said, you seriously can't compare 1 fight against Berto's body of work. That is an uneven sample set. In any metric you use, Andre Berto is a better pro than Algieiri. They may be close to the same level now, but Algieir is at his peak, while Berto is far below his.
Yes he could pick them, except for Tim who is with TR, and they would be better than Berto. Same as Manny could've done when he picked algieiri.
the point is Berto is to Floyd what algieiri was to Manny.
