A recognizable name with a low KO ratio. Maybe he thought he was going to look better than Pac did and KO him. Chris even that he goes down has a good chin and will power
He wasn't a pick at 147 at all. Algieri was not even ranked as a top 10 contender at 140 or 147. Can't even call that picking on the weakest, and I mean that in a bad way. Like the weakest "WW" would have been someone like Chaves. What Khan did when he picked Algieri was beyond weak, and then he looked bad at the same time. Algieir never even fought at the full 147 limit before Khan. Wasn't the Pacquiao fight a 144lb catchweight?
Algieri was in negotiations with Crawford to go back and fight for his WBO 140 lbs belt that he never lost in the ring for March, 2015.
He fought Algieri because he was the easiest pick at 147 available.
Yet he still struggled.
While Khan's masterplan of domination at 147 plays out, the rest of the division moves on without him.
Amen to that.

On second thought I actually like these Algieri-bashing threads. Why, because, like I said, he's not with TR. We could actually see results, prove and disprove what has been said about the guy. I for one will be bumping these threads when I see the ref raising Algieri's hand when he beats one of Haymon's boys. :boxing:
Garcia vs Algieri will most likely happen also, after the Thurman fight.
The logic is fighting Algieri was a nice safe fight against a guy who was not that good and could not punch hard. It sort of backfired because Algieri fought better than anybody expected and hurt Khan a few times. Algieri backed Khan up the whole fight and had Khan holding and clinching a lot. If Khan ever fights again I think he will pick another light hitter who is not very good. Khan rarely fights and has been averaging a fight every 9 months. If Khan really believes he is the best pound for pound fighter in the world then he should be fighting guys like Brook, Thurman or Porter and not guys like Collazo and Algieri. Khan's choice of opponents indicates that he doesn't really believe in his abilities in the ring.
Oh Algieri will be hanging around. He's still young. And I realized Haymon doesn't really have that many opponents for his boxers. He's running out of Guerrero-type opponents for Thurman, for instance. We may well see Thurman vs Algieri.
They have forgotten that it was Haymon who made the Khan/Algieri fight. Same Haymon who made Thurman vs Khan's leftover. Haymon doesn't give a crap about what fans want. So I'll expect Thurman vs Algieri next.
Let's see how good Thurman really is, or how bad Algieri is.
Stupid fans are no longer watching boxing. They all have agendas.
Didn't you see the Khan/Algieri fight? It was very competitive. That's the point of boxing. Not some effing mismatches like Brook vs No no Dans.
And this Algieri bashing has got to stop. Anyways, we'll see more of him. I bet these idiots would change tune when he makes guys like Broner, Garcia, etc. look like average.
He's not Top Rank doe. He can do business with Haymon. Let's see if you'll stick with your silly opinions of Algieri. He'll be around. Just remember that.

Forget Khan he's just a "glass hype job"
Let's ask the real question! Why is Mayweather fighting Berto?
Honestly he could be fighting the guy who holds Berto's spit bucket as his faewell fight for all i care..he has earned it
Algieri struggled against Provodnikov, and lost every round to Pacquiao.
It says more about how limited Khan is.
This is true. When you get walked down by a guy with 9 KO's, you know you haven't improved.
