It will take place Sept. 12, at the MGM in Las Vegas. He will fight Andre Berto. Alas, it will not be offered on CBS, a freebie, but will instead be offered on pay-per-view, a solid source informs TSS.
A CBS fight was on the table, embraced in many circles, seemingly a go...but ultimately the money matters had some folks uncomfortable with that outside-the-box plan.
Eyeballs are great but revenue is king, is I guess the message...
As always, I encourage readers to trust, but verify; Mayweather does his own thing, when and how he wants it. This will be the gospel truth, Twitter verified, when Mayweather himself tells us all. This could be the plan now, but change in three hours. Capisce?
It is official. Berto is the next victim. PPV is the platform. Floyd Mayweather announced Tuesday, August 4, late afternoon his plans for Sept. 12.

Thoughts, friends?
Berto is one of those guys that don't look like they're punching particularly hard but they are.
And apparently prices will be $65 SD and $75 HD which I think is pretty extortionate. Will probably be on Sky Box Office for £15-20 in the UK as BoxNation don't seem to be interested.
I predict 700k PPV sales as some of his fans and casuals will still buy as it's Floyd Mayweather and his apparent swan-song and the undercard is decent. The main event also has potential to be "entertaining".
Quadruple Header:
-Ishe Smith vs Vanes Martiroysan
-George Groves vs Badou Jack
-Roman Martinez vs Orlando Salido
-Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Berto
I predict Vanes, Groves, Martinez and Mayweather will all win.
Official Results:
-Vanes Matiroysan won a Majority Decision flooring Ishe Smith in the 3rd and 8th
-Oquendo won a close Split Decision over Johnny Gonzalez
-Badou Jack won a Split Decision over George Groves
-Orlando Salido and ROman Martinez scored a split draw
-Mayweather beat Berto in dominant fashion to win a unanimous Decision
I thoroughly enjoyed the card and Berto tried his best but I would have preferred Mayweather-Khan, what were your thoughts on the event?
Post Fight Updates
@danrafaelespn: PPV industry source on #MayweatherBerto numbers tells me they're very poor relatively speaking. 'Being generous is might hit 550,000 buys.'
@danrafaelespn: #MayweatherBerto will be Floyd's weakest PPV showing since he first went on PPV with Gatti & Baldomir, fights that were 300k plus. #boxing
@danrafaelespn: Purses for #MayweatherBerto main event alone was $36M. If PPV does even 550k it nets around $20M. Lot to make up with gate & other revenue.
Not really a surprise but will come as a disappointment for Shosports who may potentially have a made a loss on THIS particular Mayweather PPV considering the expenses for the solid undercard fights and Mayweather's $32 million purse guarantee (Floyd claims he's making $71/72 million)
You have to consider the opponent. The check left hook then pivot was so easy against Manny because Manny would (and always has) over commits on his attacks, especially with his left so Floyd would use the hook as well as Manny's own momentum against him and cause him to reset while landing a scoring blow and reestablishing distance. With Berto, the prospect of getting hit with a right while pivoting out was slightly higher because of how Berto throws that punch plus Floyd knows Berto doesn't on the inside well at all to he was more than okay being on the ropes. Look at the gif someone on here has of Floyd landing a 2 punch combo, slipping off the ropes and then landing a left hook counter afterwards. He could have done that more but didn't need to.
Other than that, I agree he no longer has the offense but again, he's 38 years old. As long as he's aware of his limitations at this point, that's all that matters and he should bow out gracefully and let the young guns have it from here.
That's true much like Ortiz he used it very well against him also just in that first 4 rounds.
But on the same token he used it well against Cotto for example (not saying he fights like Berto obviously) I just saw times where he could easily have used it and would have been a lot more effective but instead he just held or went back to the ropes. Obviously he's not going to check hook every time but I don't recall him using it at all the enitre fight.
I agree though he's 38 and a 20 year pro and obviously well into decline I don't dispute that but to me I've never seen him look worse from an offensive standpoint.
Watching the buildup to the fight and then the fight itself, I can honestly say it was amazingly anticlimactic. I'm not sure why Floyd expected fans to pay for this, or even entertain Berto as a credible opponent? I could guess at his motivations, and have but it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Andre Berto should never have been anywhere around the ring with Mayweather, he was so absolutely outclassed. Everyone knew what was going to happen when the fight was announced and it didn't fail to live down to the expectations.
Floyd Mayweather is an all-time great in my mind, but not a class act.
Whether he was or wasn't in September 2015 has no bearing on whether he was when he got the IV in May 2015 before the Manny fight.
a simple yes or no would suffice Dunn
was Floyd dehydrated @146 lbs. against Berto?

During the fight In attendance I was very unimpressed. Even shaking my head every now and again at the complete lack of offense on Floyd's part. I thought maybe as I'm watching it in the arena it looks different than it does on TV so I rewatched it on TV today.
My thoughts haven't changed, Mayweather is clearly done as a fighter. He had a guy infront of him that 5 years ago he could have put an absolute beating on. Where was the jab for the body followed by the right upstairs? Where was the sweeping right hand? Counter uppercut against the ropes? Lead right hand and duck under? None of that was present. Even the left hook was seldomly used. And then the few rare instances he did let his hands go, he was very sloppy and Inaccurate. The pull counter wasn't working either.
Berto trapped him in the ropes several times. He couldn't even slip away, no check left hooks off the ropes (like he used against Pacquaio)
He threw 400 punches, most of which were jabs.
To me it's very clear the offensive side of his game is competely done. Finished. Shot. He's still sharp defensively but that's it. His offense consists of jabs and an occasional right.
In all honesty it was depressing for me ringside, seeing a shell of Mayweather. I was expecting a vintage Floyd against a Berto level opponent, an offensive masterclass for his last fight but instead I got the opposite.
It's a good job it was Berto in there Saturday. I don't see that version of Maweather lasting much longer.
It couldn't be a more perfect indicator to retire. I really hope he stays retired.

Funny how I made a Berto-Broner thread about 6 months ago and most people were down for it...instead he fought big bro. Anyway best bit was when someone shouted "WHAT ARE THOSE?!?!" And Floyd mid-fight replied "they're the new Reeboks" :lol1:
Hahaha!!!!!!!
Was Floyd dehydrated @146 lbs. against Berto?
An even better question would be, did he cheat against Berto? Fraud has way too much control in the sport. He could've been juiced to the gills for all of these years. Smh. What a disgrace.
Do you want to be liked? It doesn't matter.
Aside from all the BS, Floyd has life figured out. Introspective, philosophical people like me will get what I mean.
If this is his last fight, I am glad to have supported it. I bought all of his PPVs since DLH. It was fun to hate him but at the end of the day I can appreciate his figure/presence in the sport. Farewell, floyd. The hate stays inside the ring. Thanks for the memories and wish you happiness in life.
Hunter's fighters don't seem to react well to him during fights, happened with Angulo as well. He may have bad breath or something.
And LOL at floyd sticking his tongue out at Bertos wife.
Wow, that was awesome. I love these epilogues, so epic... very nice editing. Watched it twice, rewinding and playing, I like to pick up on all the little details. I find in interesting to see how floyd interacts with characters like Bieber and stuff.
Really liked the shot of floyd entering the ring, sliding back out like he is looking to leave but gets back inside for one last fight.
I'm going to miss this bish tbh. :o :o
And LOL @ Hunter grabbing Berto like a ragdoll lol. I like his psychotic ways.
