Trainer Peter Fury has informed WBN that he wants former heavyweight great Vitali Klitschko to come out of retirement and face son Hughie on the same bill as his brother Wladimir on October 24.
Vitali, 43, retired in 2012 after ruling with an iron fist over the top division for almost a decade and has since been a prominent figure on the Ukrainian political scene as leader of the UDAR (Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform) Party and as Mayor of Kiev.
The elder Klitschko has never looked back since hanging up his gloves on the back of a tenth successful defence of the WBC championship against Manuel Charr, although Fury hopes to persuade the veteran to battle undefeated Hughie in Dusseldorf.
Wladimir fights Hughie’s cousin Tyson for the unified world heavyweight titles - meaning top billing and chief support would be a family affair if Vitali can be coaxed out of his exile from the sport.
Peter also revealed that he originally wanted his 15-0 son to fight Klitschko’s coach Johnathon Banks on the ESPRIT Arena bill, but has since switched his attention to Vitali and believes it would be a great opportunity for Hughie to make his mark.
“We asked about the possibility of Hughie fighting Klitschko’s coach Banks first of all, but if we can get Vitali out of retirement then that’s even better for us,” Fury exclusively told World Boxing News.
“Banks refused, I think because he wanted to stick to training Wladimir for the fight against Tyson, so why not get Vitali in and make it the Fury’s against the Klitschko brothers?
“Vitali is a great champion and I have nothing but respect for him, but I would have no problem putting Hughie in with him on October 24.
“If we can’t get Vitali or Banks, we will look for a top name to continue Hughie’s progress,” he added.
Details of which other fights will feature on the Klitschko v Fury undercard are set to be trickled out over the next few weeks.

Vitali won't come out of retirementertainment to just fight some green kid
I agree, he'd need a big money offer or a god story line...imagine if Fury beats Wlad, it'd be the perfect return for Big Brother.
An untrained Vitali beats Hughie. Easily.
That said, Vitali looks to be in incredible shape still. If he had a full training camp, he'd brutalise him.
Odd that a father would want his son to get a beating.
Vitali and Wlad both stay in shape year round and the 42 year old would beat just about any heavyweight out there.
I am sure Vitali would see it as very respectful that peter considers him a stepping stone for his novice son..'at this stage in his career'
Lol, I never viewed the interview like that. Maybe it is a poke, they be calling out Banks in all this too !

Gotta love Vitali, he's a monster of a man. I expect Wlad will be utilising his brother as a sparring partner for the test of Fury.
I'm not sure what a win over Hughie would mean for Vitali having an already illustrious career. Pete Fury is just selling the fight more so getting a few more tongues wagging, good on him I ain't gonna hate on the guy, he appears to have nothing but admiration of the Klitschko's.
vitali great? vitali ruled over the division for a decade? when did all this happen?
You never tire do you ?

not gonna happen though
vitali isn't in the standard boxer retirement (hanging around gyms, snorting coke, waiting for a phone call)
he's a high profile politician and boxing is probably a distant memory
Why not get in the ring yourself and make it 3 Furys laying in a pile on the canvas? It didn't turn out so well for the last Peter who faced Vitali after his return from retirement.
Haye did send Vitali into a sort of "retirement duck" but there's a possibility he might fight a highly inexperienced guy like Hughie who would be far less risk than Haye. It's a novel idea in some senses with the 2 Klitschkos against the 2 Furys. If Vitali has any itch for another fight at all it would be a good tune-up fight at least.
