I didn't realise there are only 9 and a half weeks left until September 12 and we still haven't had confirmation of who he is fighting next. I know 8 weeks should be more than enough time for his opponent to prepare for a fight but you'd expect an announcement shortly especially if there is to be a couple of press conferences beforehand.

Berto, Thurman, Porter, Mayfield, Khan. Whoever is available and currently does not have a fight coming up should be training for Mayweather right now, whether they're picked or not. An athlete should be disciplined enough to get themselves prepared. A student should stay on top of his homeworks and school materials, whether he has a test coming up or not.
fight will be announced during Garcia fight tomorrow...
at least that is what I suspect. They would want the ratings spike it would cause. "spike" sounds like an understatement.

"Very doubtful," that today is deal day for @FloydMayweather. Compromising continues in @Canelo @RealMiguelCotto talks.

One final, strung-out power play from the control freak. He gets his kicks from knowing everyone is waiting on him, not to mention the advantage he gets from not letting his opponents know they are getting the fight until late.
Thank God we won't have to deal with the circus for much longer. The post-Mayweather boxing landscape is going to be far more enjoyable.
u will see him in the ring again next year

Amen to that.
What would you guys say if Floyd fought both Berto and Mayfield on the same card on the same night, back to back, for 49 and 50? I cant recall such being done in the modern era of Boxing. What are ya'lls thoughts on something like that?
I would love it! Maybe not Mayfield, how about Berto and Porter?? But Floyd has noting left to prove to anyone.
Floyd giving two young African American boxers some exposure on national TV in his last fight is a nice little middle-finger to everyone.
I don't care who's he's fighting. If its someone decent I'll watch, if not I won't.
I do care that he's holding up all the match making at 147.
No Khan-Thurman, Khan-Porter, Thurman-Porter, Brook-Thurman, Brook-Bradley, Khan-Brook can be entertained until his little "power show" comes to an end.
People who say they don't care who Floyd is fighting next are liars. They will run onto boxing scene to discuss it when he announces his opponent and they will watch the fight
Now onto Floyd, I do agree with people that say this is getting slightly a little tiresome now. The whole charade of the Mayweather sweepstakes, who will be the lottery ticket winner etc.. Why not just announce it like a normal fighter..
Nearly end of July now... Fight is scheduled for September. 8 or so weeks away. Not totally out of the realms of possibility that Floyd might not even fight this September.

I'd be laughing the whole way through.
I care, because I like boxing and I like to watch the very best in the game.
So why do you want to watch any fight with Andre Berto? Maybe I'd care who Mayweather was fighting if C-level opponents line Berto and Mayfield weren't the front runners. I want to see fights I'm excited about and I cannot bring myself to care how the badly the #1 p4p fighter beats the fuxck out of a low quality opponent.
1) Floyd is 38. Take a look at what all the greats in history were doing at 38.
2) Berto is a solid fighter in his prime. If Floyd wasn't so good, he would be one of the respected names in the division as the interim WBA title holder.
3) Khan is easy work, so it doesn't matter.
4) Why does he need to retire if he's still the best? To find any competition you have to name a guy that is 20 lbs heavier. Meanwhile, that same guy is ducking Ward because of 4 lbs.
You Floyd haters are clowns.
#2 Has no truth at all. Berto is not in his prime, has no big victories, knocked out by Karass and lost to Ortiz and Guerrero. Won interim by barely getting past Josesito Lopez. I'd laugh at any top five welter taking him on.
I think it's even funnier to see the Willie Monroe Jr and Algieri comparisons that were being made when those are not even close to comparable. An equivalent pick to them right now would be someone like Sadam Ali. Young, up and coming respectable contender. Still an easy fight but at least it's not a washed up, once a B level fighter (maybe), Andre flippin Berto.

We are all patiently waiting for the princess to announce his fight.
It's either Berto (low risk, low reward) or Khan (high risk, high reward). Who he goes for, depends on what he wants out of his career finishing fight. Does he want glory? Does he want an easy bye bye fight?
How is Khan high reward?

If Berto is "solid" then who isn't.
He loses as often than he wins in recent years and not to top guys, to other "solids", gatekeepers and borderline journeymen like soto karass.
"Solid, rugged, heart", all nice ways of saying someone is shot and has a puncher's chance.
Except Berto does not have a puncher's chance, he has no chance at all.

I'm not a Floyd hater. No way. He pisses me off sometimes, but
that's all.
1) Are you suggesting other fighters at 38 were fighting easy fights? then you perhaps contradict yourself at point 4 saying floyd is still the best so he should fight the top competition until the end For entertainment value! not because I'm ****ing on his record!
2) Berto is not a good opponent. Maybe if your an errol Spence coming up, but floyds potentially last ever fight? **** no.
3) Khan would be fun while it lasted. It's an entertaining and partly interesting match up. Khan has been in the running for a while. To me it's fine ,if it's khan.
4) You have a point where you say the only real real tough comp can come from higher weights. But you still have thurman, khan, lara kell brook. Who are all better than berto.
Just a friendly debate BTW. Don't take it t heart
