i think Pavlik had a long good rest and should comeback to boxing at 168 he should train under freddie roach. I think they would mesh well stylewise. Pavlik is an offensive fighter and roack is an offensive first trainer.
Pavlik is one of the toughest guys in boxing, and if his mind and focus is on point, he would probably knock out carl froch agreed?
I bet pavlik isn't even fun to party with, I picture him being one of those angry dive bar types, who sniffs all the cocaine and leaves, and walks home with a 12 pack of budweiser and a half smoked cigerrate for later.
Poor Kelly, he really was the great white hype for a few months.
he was no hype. one of the toughest hard hitting MW I ever saw. he killed taylor . how he came back in that fight will be remembered for 100 years. why they fought Hopkins so fast after he won MW title I will never understand. that fight ruined Kellys delicate mental balance. how a guy like that let the demons destroy his life is beyond me

Kelly wasn't white and he was not just hype. He was the real deal.

That's exactly what Pavlik should do.Box again and turn what's left of his brain into oatmeal soup.Maybe he could get them to put him in the same funny farm that Jermaine Taylor is in next time he gets in trouble.Wouldn't that be something if Pavlik and Taylor were room mates? Now that would make a hell of a movie or tv sitcom. The Ghost with Bad Intentions.I can see it now, they plot their escape and break out of the nut house and go on a crime spree while on the run.
Freddie roach might as well make a comeback with kelly pavlik as his trainer, he can fight chavez sr, winner then can fight de la hoya in battle of ex-alcoholics..
No he shouldn't. He had his day, it is over. The way he fights, he would get hurt. The last time he was going to fight was against Andre Ward a couple years ago, then Manny got KO'd, Pavlik pulled out of the fight, he then retired.
I was a fan, but he was done, that is why he agreed to fight Ward. He wouldn't duck anyone, but the way Bhop killed him, this fight was the end of his career.
Pavlik could and maybe should have done much better. But his style never was made for longevity. He isn't coming back, the hunger was lost a good while before he officially retired and then there's the injuries, alcohol etc...
And there's no way on earth he'd have gone up to SMW and beaten Carl Froch.

Being out drinking and possibly doing drugs isn't resting. He has continued to further damage his body.
Honestly, I think maybe the celebrity got to him a little too much as much as he'd deny it.
He tried to maintain that humble attitude and that's what I had liked a lot about him, but seeing as how his team reacted immediately after the Hopkins loss showed some immaturity out of his camp. It's like they were hiding back the true anger in themselves and it just came out.
Regardless, I don't think he could get back to true elite status if he made a return. He'd be a solid gatekeeper perhaps but not much else.
Kelly has the shakes plus he was real deep into alcohol for a long long time. Guarantee a liver shot by a regular joe let alone a boxer will put Kelly down.
Kelly was a great Middleweight, tremendous puncher..but he never really carried his power up to 168. Plus he had the drinking problem at the end of his career that hastened his decline..
Boxing at the top level is hard. You not only have to have natural talent but you have to try very hard. You have to love to fight and win so that you will train hard and keep improving your skills. Pavlic quit in his prime with multi million dollar fights being there for him. All he had to do was sign the contract and train and fight and collect his millions. His heart wasn't in it even though he was young with lots of natural skill, speed and power. Unless he gets his love of boxing back he won't succeed even with a great trainer like Roach training him.
This guy got ruined by Hopkins. Plus his chosen lifestyle is not going to let him do a comeback.
He was a legit threat to anybody but we will never know[/QUOTEmay
Maybe psychologically. The only thing Bernard ever ruined was a good ppv..

He hasn't had a good rest at all, he's only continued to abuse his body and mind. For crying out loud he passed out in a court room! His reflexes are likely completely eroded and his punch resistance probably gone as well. He's forever done.
Freddie would probably have provided more discipline than Robert Garcia, but if Robert couldn't get him back to contender level then Freddie couldn't have either. Kelly's all done and it would be a mistake to come back.
He was a good fighter, very tough, gutsy, huge punch. Would be great to see him comeback but he has irreparable damage, suffers from seizures. He really cant.
