If you take a highlight video, Mayweather looks like a prime Duran in comparison to Pep. Significantly more offensive, up until he was in his mid 30's.
Even Duran had become a pure counter puncher by that age, and rarely led.
Maybe in 60 years that video will still exist and people will be saying "Mayweather was an all action fighter with devastating power" :lol1: That's a good video though to highlight Floyd's offensive side.
I think it's stupid that people dismiss the fact or try to pretend that Floyd wasn't exciting as a youngster and was in many entertaining fights.
Yeah as an older fighter he's not exciting any more but from 96-2006 (up to probably the Baldomir fight) he put on many exciting offensive displays. That's 10 years hardly a short amount of time.

Floyd = modern day duran......:lol1:
duran would've feasted on maidana without ref's help

Yea and last time he fought for a title he was 28 and lost..you are comparing him to Floyd at 38...show me Floyd holding at 28
Yeah but you just asked if he was a running coward so obviously you're comparing him to Floyd I assume....
Floyd was awesome at 130, I agree..he was actually enjoyable to watch and would entertain...not so much the last 4-5 years....
I didn't see him hug or put his fore arm in the other guys mouth once then throw his right hand after it.

Compare Willie Peps' ranking on niche ATG lists (very high)
To how many people have any clue he exists (you me and 5 other people)
Sorry but no matter how you spin it guys who just ride the rules to survive to a decision are never remembered as much as actual fighters. It's not why anyone tunes in.
Rocky Marciano fought during the era of "real" PRIZEFIGHTING, "real" BLOODSPORT", "real" FIGHTERS who went up the ring with full intention to hurt their opponent. And he fought "real" FIGHTING. If Rocky fought on this era and wins his 49-0 hell be way up there. If Floyd fought on Rocky's era, he will never even get pass his 20th fight, no promoter will get him, nobody will pay to watch him run around and pitty pat his opponents. Nobody. If floyd and rocky lives in the same era it will be like... https://youtu.be/Y2gOde2LRi4
Pep fought in the same era doe
Larry must have a day off today. He's bumping treads he made in early July.
No according to people on here fighting defensive can not make you an all time great and in the 40's you'd be laughed at
he punch with intention and he's engaging, that aint mayweather marathon
Exactly, TS trying to compare a legend to Floyd. Blasphemy.
Pep fights with intention to hurt. Floyd fights with intention to survive lol
Willie Pep was a bum man, if he fought today he would only be worthy of washing Mayweathers bugattis. TBE mayweather would have made easy work of pep man. Mayweather invented defensive boxing, pep was nothing but a pale imitation. Pep had a time machine and saw mayweather fight gatti in 2005 and learned how to fight defensively. TBE mayweater.
Nope. This is bum boxing. For lack of a better this is garbage boxing.
Calling Pep a bum. That guy has the cohonez to fight. The one below compared to Pep has a vagina lol
Clinching to prevent an opponent from punching is and always will be garbage boxing.
First of Rigondeaux is not boring. Willie pep is not boring.
Floyd is and will always be boring and a fighter who found a loop hole to exploit the hugging and running tactics that diffuses the essence pf boximg which is to engage and fight. Big difference.
Have they changed those results yet for you big fella?
It makes me laugh when idiots say you don't know boxing if you are critical of fighters who are boring like Mayweather and especially Rigondeaux. Well, let me get it out of the way that I've had almost 80 amateur fights and therefore probably know more about boxing than 99.9% of you. Mayweather hasn't always been boring, but he is now. He never goes for the knockout, never throws combinations and - worst of all - he has now become a prolific clincher. Rigondeaux's only redeeming quality is that he doesn't clinch a lot, but other than that he's the most boring fighter ever - he could knock every fighter out but leaves so much to be desired compared to the way he often fought as an amateur. Movement and boxing are fine as long as you focus on offense more than someone like Rigo, but constant clinching is not excusable and is in fact cheating. Holding should be penalised much more. I understand why fighters do it - in fact I do it myself as I'm an intelligent boxer. However, there is less of an onus of responsibility on me to entertain as I'm not paid for what I do.
