Obviously everyone has their own personal reasons, but what's the general rule of thumb for a fighter to gain entry into the top ten P4P?
Interested to hear everyone's thoughts!
B-Hop said this years ago and I still agree with it 100%
As for what Qualifies you, in boxing today I'm not really sure, everything is just a Popularity Contest now especially RING P4P Ranking which many people USE TO respect and live by but now that has become a JOKE!
I just think fighting a beating the very best in your Division is what Qualifies you on top of everything B-Hop is saying in this Video
Do what Froch did from 2009 - 20013 , fight world champions , and former world champions back to back to back....
Floyd fought more world champions than anybody and he still doesn't get the respect he deserves.
I can't remember the last time he fought a dude who wasn't a champ or former champ.
Maybe 2004
Fight a minimum of twice per year against top 10 ranked competition or 4 times per year against lesser ranked competition. More than 6 months between fights and you drop 5 spots. 1 year between fights and you drop off the list. Once off the list, need to fight two top 10 contenders to get back on. Have a minimum of 20 fights to qualify for the 6 - 10 spots and minimum of 25 to qualify for the 1 - 5 spots.
They should probably be one of the 10 best fighters in the world :)
this.
a p4p list gets more and more subjective as you count down from the top spot.
the 10th best fighter if all fightesr were the same size? there's a lot of wiggle room with that.
i try and rate the 10 most able fighters based on their accomplishments and my perception of their h2h ability.
They should probably be one of the 10 best fighters in the world :)
But how do you classify that amongst the many great fighters there are in the sport? Silly question maybe to ask. But I've noticed a lot of invariables in different P4P lists.
Fighting the best in your division is a good place to start. Weight-jumping is also valued when discussing P4P. 6 of BoxingScene's top 10 have fought in at least two divisions (Floyd, Manny, Crawford, Gonzalez, Estrada, Bradley).
In order to be P4P-worthy, you have to be #1 or #2 in your own division first imo.
