He stopped trying to fight like Floyd? If he let his hands go and threw combinations? If he used good footwork and head movement instead of his Care Bear defense.
He has the build and speed to fight with more of a Hagler-type of style, but the kid has deluded himself into thinking he's some kind of Floyd-lite.

:lol1: Floyd-lite indeed ...
Broner's problem is that he has gotten by for so long just countering opponents for the win and as a consequence, is unable to pull the trigger offensively.
I agree with your first point, that he has to forget what he's been doing up to this point and learn another method of fighting. He will always have his former style to fall-back on when necessary, but he needs to urgently adopt an aggressive style that emphasizes the jab. And use that jab as a pivot to introduce other weapons that he is already very capable of delivering.
I could go further and more in-depth .... but we are talking about Broner after all, and he seems to be stuck on stupid at present.
I don't understand why broner fans can't accept the fact that he's just not very good. He feasted on smaller guys for years and showed his limitations in fights with guy's like ponce. Move on already, there's much better guys with more potential.
When he lets his hands go hes a ****ing beast. in the porter fight he never let his hands go once hes got good power even maidana said he punches really hard. But he thinks his mayweather the dumb arrogant fk
You are saying how good would Broner be if he was a completely different fighter? But he is Broner and what you see is what you get. He is 25 years old and he has been a boxer for many years and he has a trainer to try and correct his mistakes. It's very unlikely Broner will change much or get much better. Broner really hates to take punishment and Maidana and Porter made him more gun shy than ever.
Always said he should fight more like Prime James Toney instead of the Old Welterweight Version Floyd Mayweather
Mayweather at 25 years old was an amazing and COMPLETE Fighter
But he did , just isn't very good at it
It's not his style as much as he doesn't prepare like a professional it's really that simple

He's a ll hype was never that good he was only good when fighting little guys he out weighed by 20 pounds at fight time
I think the better better question is how good would he be if he stayed at lower weights and didn't come up so fast. That, and his poor dedication to the sport..
Broner gets gunshy. You look at his punchstats and he throws more the less his opponent does.
Although against Paulie he was able to throw over 800 because Paulie was working him and he had to keep it close.
He doesn't choose not to let his hands go, he is incapable of figuring out opponents well enough to feel comfortable letting his hands go. He's easily confused and that keeps him from throwing.
If he just started winging combinations, he'd miss a ton, tire out, and be no better.
He doesn't have the endurance the throw many punches. Doesn't have the chin to take many punches. Doesn't have the power unless he's fighting midgets.
He was outboxed by Ponce De Leon, who came up in weight to fight him. So what's he supposed to do? Acting like a fool and attracting Floyd groupies has been the best thing for his career. Imagine if he had to actually garner acclaim through his skills.
Great point.
I think he would have more success. But i think he will always be hesitant to let his hands go against good opposition. His lack of defense means he will leave his self open.
About as good as Amir Khan with an Iron chin and the ability to cope with pressure...
Broner is what he is. He simply can't fight in the manner you're talking about.
