Amir Khan believes Floyd Mayweather Jr is in danger of 'messing his own legacy up' if he continues to refuse to fight him.
The unbeaten American (48-0-0-KO26) beat Manny Pacquiao in May and claims he will fight for the final time on September 12 - naming Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield as the leading candidates for his ring farewell.
Khan (31-3-0-KO19) has made no secret of his desire to secure a big-money clash with 38-year-old Mayweather but has thus far been rebuffed, although two weeks ago, the Bolton fighter revealed he had been involved in a heated exchange with Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Speaking to Ringcast.net, Khan said: "We've been talking to Al Haymon and hopefully we'll find out in a week what's going to happen. Mayweather wants to fight on September 12 and I'll be ready for that date.
"Floyd says he thinks he needs an easy fight now because he's proved himself by beating Pacquiao. He wants to fight Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield. No disrespect to those two because they're good fighters and good friends of mine too.
He needs to finish on a high. What he's probably going to do is leave the game on a low and I think that's the worst thing to do.
Khan on Mayweather
"I think he's messing his own legacy up. He needs to finish on a high. What he's probably going to do is leave the game on a low and I think that's the worst thing to do.
"I spoke to his father and he says it'd be an easy fight if Mayweather fought me. If it'd be so easy then why not do it?
"Mayweather hasn't announced who he wants to fight yet. He's mentioned a few names but mine should've been in there because it's a fight that the fans want and it's a fight that would make big money."
One man who is chasing a bout with Khan is unbeaten IBF world welterweight champion Kell Brook, who looks set to defend his belt against Brandon Rios on the same September date.
Khan, however, remains adamant the Sheffield fighter has not earned the right to call him out.
Kell Brook: Unproven on world stage, says Khan
The Olympic silver medallist added: "When the question comes to me, why don't you fight Kell Brook? My body's taken wear and tear fighting all the top guys, the world champions so why isn't Kell doing that? Why should I give him this big pay day he's after?
"My name gets mentioned among Mayweather and Pacquiao - that's the level I'm at. If I was him, I'd be chasing after guys like Timothy Bradley, who refused to fight me. Kell Brook needs to fight some decent names first and then he can have that big fight against me.
"Let him build his name, let him prove himself and let people say he's untouchable and then I'll come beat him. We're both the same age, young and hungry and I've done a lot more in my career. I believe he has to step it up a little bit.
"It'd be a big fight in the UK and I know the fans want it but this is all about timing. He needs to prove himself at world level. Even Brandon Rios is a lightweight really."

Khan is so full of himself without having backed up anything, that he is pretty boring now.
Usually a casual would hear about a fighter making headlines by talking sh*t or some big fight he won, and youtube him, and hear about some crazy win he got in the past and watch the fight on YT, becoming a fan instantly. With Khan, casuals read about him talking sh*t and run into his Prescott KO1 loss and his Garcia TKO4 loss footage. That's when it all goes down hill.
Yes because those #'s had nothing to do with Broner being the A-side in that fight and many tuning in because there was a good chance of witnessing broner get his azz kicked again!
The same khan be said for Amir 'Chin' Khan.
Like Mayweather says, he got the win so he gets to claim the numbers.
Porter has just won a fight against a top American fighter he wasn't picked to beat - something khan has never done.
This is classic stuff .... :lol1:
It just doesn't get better than this in terms of hilarious and delusional.
Someone who is no where near HOF material, trying to tell a first-ballot HOF guarantee, that he needs to fight him to go out on a high-note.
You just cannot make this shit up
Oh yeah, after beating Pacquaio in his last fight, not fighting Amir Khan will damage his legacy!
How deluded can a guy be?
Floyd's legacy is beyond set.
"My name gets mentioned among Mayweather and Pacquiao - that's the level I'm at."
Only by himself. He makes himself look and sound worse every time he speaks. Delusional assclown.
Said nothing wrong but will get hated on.
Unless you're a d|ck riding flom0, no one wants to see Floyd fight Berto or Mayfield.
Should either been Khan or Brook.
I prefer him to fight Khan personally, he has the style to win his fair share of rounds or get K.O'd
As good as Brook is, his fights are pretty boring. No one can dispute who is more exciting out of Khan or Brook, and that is what people should be looking for they pay their money.
said nothing wrong?? Khan does 0 for Floyd legacy
Gets KOed by Garcia, struggles with Diaz and Algieri. Khan has not shown anything more that what could he be with the speed he has.
This dude is legit delusional thinking that Floyd has to fight him for any type of legacy

Would it do more than Porter?
Porter just more than doubled the viewing figures khan did.

Yea it does when Floyd is holding 3 world titles and there is only 1 belt left.Brook is the logical choice right now, since Floyd is fighting to keep the WBO
"All belts do is collect dust!"
-Floyd Mayweather
While Khan sounds delusional most of the time I kind of feel for him for 1 reason. He wants to fight Floyd because he genuinely thinks he can beat him. He's not clamoring for the fight for a paycheck like most of Floyd's opponents. Khan can care less about the money. He just truly wants to fight and beat Floyd.
COULDN'T CARE LESS
understand?
