Seriously. I don't know how so many people are thinking it's a good fight, especailly when it's going to happen at 154!
1. GGG WILL be drained at 154.
GGG has never fought at 154. Never! He turned pro in 2006 at 160lbs. If anything, GGG should probably be moving up now. At 154, he WILL BE DRAINED. His power won't be there as much as it is at 160.
2. GGG is an easy style for Mayweather.
GGG just moves forward. He is not elusive. He just moves forward. Stylistically, this is a style that Mayweather feasts on. We have seen Mayweather fight this kind of style countless times. We already know what the result will be.
It's a fight that will make the casual fan get excited but any real boxing student knows how this fight will play out: Mayweather will beat GGG at 154 like he beat Canelo. This is a pointless fight. At 160, it will definitely be interesting, but we really can't expect Mayweather to fight at such a high weight. Let's not forget that Mayweather turned pro at 130 lbs. It's too much to ask of Mayweather to move up to 160. He's comfortable at 147.
I don't want to see this fight.
I agree that GGG wouldn't have enough in the tank @154 to chase Floyd around the ring like he'd need to.
The match-up doesn't really enhance Floyd's resume if it occurs @154. Floyd might as well face Lara then, who's actually done something at LMW.
Well that fight will never happen because it's not fan friendly... yet... Floyd "deserves" an easy match-up for September all of a sudden (or so his true fanboys claim)... He "deserves" all that PPV money for an easy fight...
the goal post always get moved when it comes to Floyd
Pre Nelo: "Forget Pac, Floyd is ducking the young strong power puncher...Nelo even offered to come down to 152...Floyd is getting KO'd baby"
Post Nelo: "Nelo was drained doe....I bet he won't fight Pac"
Pre Pac: "Pac is not like Nelo or anyone Floyd has faced...the speed, the power, the angles, the footwork, the southpaw stance, the straight left, the right hook...Floyd is getting KTFO baby, his 0 will go"
Post Pac: "Pac had one arm and if you watch in slow mo with no sound you can see Pac CLEARLY won the fight....Floyd was running doe...Floyd was on saline doe....Floyd got a hometown decision...the fight was closer than the 3 people with the best seats in the building scored it....Floyd was hugging doe...I bet he won't fight GGG at 154 because GGG will take his head off"
Pre GGG: "Floyd is scared, GGG can make 154 and ice Floyd...he has power and he's skilled at cutting the ring off....Floyd gonna get iced baby"
Post GGG: "GGG was drained doe...Floyd was running doe....Floyd is a coward for not coming up to 160 where GGG would've been a full strength...I bet he won't fight Krusher now...Krusher can make 165 if Floyd man up and take the challenge...Krusher ices Floyd in 2 rounds"
Floyd just can't win over his haters....the hate is REAL and DEEP for whatever reason
do you wanna see it happen? yes
so who the **** cares??
who doesnt want to see it?? no one.
sO WHO THE **** CARES???? who else cna u see beating mayweather 140~153!??!!!
GGG fights nothing like Nelo. Furthermore, he will not try to outbox Floyd whatsoever. That being said you are totally correct that he will be drained to the gills. When was the last time he actually weighed 154 pounds. He was 165 in the freaking Olympics.
GGG can make 154 healthy, he rehydrates to 170 not overly ripped, prolly walks around at like 180, wouldn't be too hard. He'd struggle to make 152 though.
GGG would walk through Floyd, his chin is granite and he's excellent at cutting off the ring.
Slipping punches & countering meant fuck all to Canelo against Floyd.
Against Floyd clearly Canelo's style was atrocious as Floyd won every minute of the fight. You wouldn't want GGG to be anything like Canelo. Someone who can cut of the ring and apply relentless & intelligent pressure is what you would want. Just speaking of the styles that would be much more in GGG's favor than Canelo.
GGG would actually be a much easier target for Floyd to land clean on than Canelo was. Floyd even said Canelo was more crafty than he anticipated. I think Floyd just has to avoid GGG's power, which may prove to be a daunting task for 12 rounds, and he can beat him.

At 154, there will be no cutting off the ring (low stamina) and not as much pressure (low stamina).
And obviously much less power.
Ggg won't be 100 percent but you can't just assume all of his skills will be gone
Honestly, if GGG could make 154 easily he'd be fighting there instead of 160. He'd be drained, but whatever, I think most people would still want to watch this fight.
Comparing GGG to Canelo now? Didn't realize Canelo was a pressure fighter who sliced the ring in half really well and had hands of stone. The movement is differently, power, punch selection and ring cutting capabilities. There's also the intangibles.. which I won't even bother getting into. Completely different fights.
I actually think Canelo is the more fluid puncher of the two and has slightly better defense. Golovkin has better foot placement and much more power. GGG is better at cutting off the ring while I think Canelo is better at combination punching, slipping punches, and countering.

I honestly believe Ward vs Golovkin would be Mayweather vs Canelo part two.
But I agree with the topic starter that at 154 GGG would be weight drained especially considering the fact that hes 33. When fighters over 30 try to drop a weight class it really ever works out.
