And the perfect opponent is Robert Guerrero. Now, that could either be his next fight, or would he take one more before that.
Either way, both guys need a big win. Guereeo didn't impress many with his last victory.
Sink or swim for both guys IMO.
As far as Broner being the next big boxing PPV star -- that ship done sailed. If it didn't sail the night of December 14, 2013, then it surely did this past Saturday.
However he's still a draw of sorts, though. People love to hate him and will always be down to tune in to catch a Broner fight with the hopes that they can see him get his ass handed another loss. That will probably never get old.
He can still make good money in the sport.
Broner has never been the heir apparent, not even close, and is not even a superstar and I doubt he will even win another title even though I thought he would prior to Saturday. His bubble was popped big time. The best he can hope for is earning another shot at the title and at 140, I can name a number of guys who would beat him. His 15 minutes of fame were up long ago. He lost to Ponce De Leon, he had what should have been a draw or a loss earlier in his career, he barely scraped by a non-descript Pauli, was doused by Maidana and Porter. The honeymoon is over. The party has ended, close the curtains, nothing to see here folks except a fraud who he, and his mindless minions thought was the future of boxing.
Not sure what people keep talking about "it's over" and crap like that. He's not the next floyd obviously but he's still the top 1% of pro boxers. Most don't even have the ability to make it to this level
so you would put porter in the top 1% of boxers?
When it boils down to it, Broner is essentially just a better version of this guy
I watched this video...and then thought, you know what? At least this guy got every concievable bit of awesome out of the deal.
Broner actually has some talent and ability doe, so it's a bit of a stretch.
If he f**ks up one more time, I hate to say it, but it's over if that happens.
Every time Broner has step up to the competition he had his chit pushed in.
Heck, and that's on a c+ like Maidana and a B- on Porter.
Overrated hypejob.

Not over in an absolute career sense but over as far as his aspirations and the aspirations of his backers go. He'll likely continue to make a decent living in comparison to the vast majority of boxers operating in the sport but his chances at multi million dollar paydays are going to go south unless he can turn things around in a major way. That's all that's meant.
the Guerrero fight is a perfect comeback fight really. Guerrero is taller but he's not a big welter. He's not going to hurt Broner, he's far slower, his right hook is nonexistent really and he can't avoid a right hand. Broner wins and easily.
2ndly, don't exaggerate Broner's position; he lost two decisions to two good, solid fighters, he wasn't knocked out or humiliated in his last fight. He just fought wrong and thus lost more rounds than he won. And with Broner, there is clearly room for possible improvement because he has the physical attributes and the youth to do these things, like let his hands go, use jabs or hooks to the body instead of forearms to throats. Otherwise, Guerrero is a good fight for him.
Broner gets disoriented against pressure fighters. He panics. (Credit to Maidana for exposing his flaw. Did you see Porter rushing to get to him after every break up?) Broner just doesn't have the skill to fight in close quarters and his main defense is to clinch. Berto is way better on the inside and could unleash power shots even on the ropes. Give Guerrero the same ref as in the Berto fight and it will end up the same.
I honestly feel bad for the kid. Truly, I like hating guys that are liyd mouths that are successful. If you're just a loud mouth and you keep losing my "hater" gene turns to a "feeling sorry for" gene. But he brought this upon himself. If he's gonna sell his "brand" by being this arrogant bad ass, then he needs to back it up and so far he has not.
Wow. Good post. Agree 100%

Are we all forgetting the Taylor fight? PDL?
FFS DeMarco is his best win.
Broner needs to stop trying to be Floyd. Period, he has good hand speed and his power is good.
"Let dem gifted hands go son"
Yep, he's so focused on his appearance in the ring and not actually winning the fight. His shots are sharp and crisp but SO FAR AND FEW BETWEEN! He needs to lead a lot more as well, he picks his shots extremely selectively and it's annoying
Guerreros done, like washed up done. AB isn't washed up, he just didn't live up to his hype. I wouldn't be surprised if AB KO'd Guerrero at this point, Guerreros ripe for the picking. But sadly I think haymon will make the fight to keep the hype alive & market AB off the Mexican $ Guerrero will bring. Broner vs Rios is more of a crossroads fight in which I'd slightly favor Rios.
