Remember when Mayweather was forced to fight Pacquiao because Canelo-Cotto was about to take the first "Mexican date" of 2015? Makes sense. I was wondering if they were actually going to fight just 3 months after Cotto-Geale. December makes even more sense, but I guess 5 months is okay. Cotto is older now and likes to spend more time with his family I imagine. So fighting Geale, then having like one month of rest and going right back into an 8 week camp didn't make sense.

Ricky Hatton who had an unrivalled following in the UK. Shane Mosley who had been twice on PPV with Oscar. Miguel Cotto who had a huge PR fanbase. Victor Ortiz is half Mexican. Marcos Maidana twice who is Hispanic. Oritz who is Mexican-American. And Manny Pacquaio.... I suppose it's also a coincidence that he floods his undercards with Mexican fighters. They chose Guererro because there were no options and be was the highest ranked Welter. And being Mexican didn't hurt. Made perfect sense at the time then the big one with Canelo in September. Exactly Canelo was the big fight; but they needed it to build a little bit more which is why he was going to fight the Trout/Cotto winner instead of going straight to Floyd in May. Floyd needed to shake off the a years layoff. Guerrero just gave a performance worth him being on a hot streak.
