“They would prefer to go on September 12th, which is of course the weekend of the Mexican Independence Day,” Dan Rafael said via ESPN.com. “That’s the day Canelo would like to go, but that’s also the date when Floyd Mayweather going on his next fight in his last fight of his Showtime contract. The promoters and HBO have said that ‘if this is when Floyd is going, we’re not going to fight that battle. We’re doing with that. Let Floyd do what he wants to do what he wants to do, and we’ll go some other time.’ So they’re going to wait until the official announcement of the Mayweather fight, but they’re looking sometime in October, perhaps in early November.”

Remember when Mayweather was forced to fight Pacquiao because Canelo-Cotto was about to take the first "Mexican date" of 2015?
Well apparently, Canelo-Cotto can't even take the second "Mexican date" of 2015 from Mayweather-TBA.
Srsly, Mayweather-TBA has bumped Canelo from his coveted "Mexican date". Mayweather-TBA. Canelo is a clown.
Cotto is not about all that Mexican date stuff and you mentioned Canelo the Clown, were you referring to http://www.tvparty.com/vgifs8/bozosolo.gif?
PRPP:boxing:
Makes sense. I was wondering if they were actually going to fight just 3 months after Cotto-Geale. December makes even more sense, but I guess 5 months is okay. Cotto is older now and likes to spend more time with his family I imagine. So fighting Geale, then having like one month of rest and going right back into an 8 week camp didn't make sense.
Mayweather/Alexander does 1 million buys? :lol1::lol1:
I've heard it all at this point.
700-800k. fact,is no1 even pills those numbers but floyd. no1 else was even close last year.
cotto canelo will beat anything mayweather does september 12 but their is something known as "professional courtesy" and Mayweather has earned that respect and I believe this is HBO paying respect.
Lol say what? Why would HBO give a f*ck about Mayweather? They're trying to maximize their earnings. They're not doing no "professional courtesy" bs as you claim.
Dirk talking about Cinco De Mayo is about the funniest sh*t I have ever seen. No one celebrates that day because of whatever it indicates, it's another St. Patricks Day and an excuse to drink. In fact, Canelo has a better shot of taking over St. Patty's day weekend considering as many Mexicans drink on that day as they do Cinco De Mayo lol.
Seriously, Cinco De Mayo in the US = St. Patricks Day in the US. One day you drink green beer the other one you drink Corona. It does NOTHING for PPV buys.
Lmfao! Maybe Dirk has relatives that fought to liberate puebla from the French.
LOL not really but I get your point
Mayweather may fight Garcia, Berto, or Brook/Khan. Only the last two will pull over 1 million buys, but Floyd doesn't care. He's made his money from the Pac fight.
You're short-changing Garcia. That fight would do 1m buys.
Floyd May and Sept dates are as close to a set schedule as you have in boxing. Unlike other sports when you know when and what date they are playing ahead of time.
Mayweather could fight Rod Salka and outsell Cotto/Alvarez. Alvarez and Oscar need to realize that and quit this.

I'm still trying to figure out when it became a holiday. When's the last time you met someone who "celebrated?" Sh*t, 4/20 is a bigger day than that :lol1:

I'm pretty sure Alexander does have some story to tell. It's just a large population of the PPV buying audience won't care because he's not Mexican/Hispanic.
The other 6 were who? Ricky Hatton who had an unrivalled following in the UK. Shane Mosley who had been twice on PPV with Oscar. Miguel Cotto who had a huge PR fanbase. Victor Ortiz is half Mexican. Marcos Maidana twice who is Hispanic. Oritz who is Mexican-American. And Manny Pacquaio....
I suppose it's also a coincidence that he floods his undercards with Mexican fighters.
Floyd vs. Alexander does a million buys. Believable.
Ricky Hatton...white.
Mosley...Black.
Cotto...Puerto Rican (yeah...they care about Cinco de Mayo)
Maidana...Argentine (yeah...they care about Cinco de Mayo)
Ortiz
Pacquiao
Bottom line, there is no holiday in May. Second, it's clear his opponent choice is based on popularity and buzz, not race.
Pretty much anybody Mayweather fights does about a mil, give or take 100-200K. Alexander has no story to sell so he falls on the lower end of that spectrum.
Mayweather has fought 10 times since crossing over with Oscar. Four of those opponents are Mexican. Go figure.

Mayweather vs Devon Alexander does a million buys?
Ok :lol1:

Mayweather literally admits this stuff but his fans know better of course.
He fought Guerrero because he was his mandatory....ok guys :lol1:
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
Dumb = fake Mexican holiday celebrated by...white people.
Dumb = marginally popular fighter now needed to sell a million PPV's.
Mayweather does that # against anyone, pretty much.

Ok :lol1:
They chose Guererro because there were no options and be was the highest ranked Welter.
And being Mexican didn't hurt.
Made perfect sense at the time then the big one with Canelo in September.
Exactly Canelo was the big fight; but they needed it to build a little bit more which is why he was going to fight the Trout/Cotto winner instead of going straight to Floyd in May. Floyd needed to shake off the a years layoff. Guerrero just gave a performance worth him being on a hot streak.
